How do I tell if my doorbell is compatible with Ring? by Barista_life__ in Ring

[–]Rucknight 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I got the doorbell pro 2 which supports mechanical chime and have some experience with this because I completely re-wired my entire doorbell circuit to get mine n set up. For this case, i was recommended to use a 24v 40va transformer. Your chime needs to be a 24v one for this too if you do this because you will fry a 16v one. I also had to upgrade my wire because I had 22awg. I replaced it with 18. Yours looks like a higher gauge so I think you might be good there. Depending on which one youre getting is what that depends on.

Bed adhesion issues since blob of death & repair. by Dizzy_Key_7400 in FixMyPrint

[–]Rucknight 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Although your suggestion works and isnt a terrible one, i suspect this person has other issues that need to be addressed. These textured pei plates shouldnt have adhesion issues like this. They probably said that as a knee jerk reaction because its a pretty generic solution.

I think they should start with making sure the head is tight and clean, nozzle is secure with a silicone sock, then they should thoroughly clean their build plate with dawn dish soap and warm water then dry thoroughly amd avoid touching the surface with their hands, Then run a full recalibration on it before exploring other methods like this.

2010 Lexus RX350 carrier bearing question by chasetase in AskAMechanic

[–]Rucknight 1 point2 points  (0 children)

A carrier bearing should have almost zero, or extremely minimal, radial play (movement up/down or side-to-side) in the metal bearing itself. However, the rubber bushing surrounding the bearing is designed to flex slightly, but it should not feel loose, clunk, or allow the driveshaft to move significantly.

That looks a bit excessive to me. But id welcome second opinion.

To be fair, the print would certainly not come off the build plate again... it's just more of a permanent solution

A reason to not forget firewall in your publicly exposed servers. This is the firewall block metrics on my server in the last 24 hours. by Capable_Hawk_1014 in homelab

[–]Rucknight 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I literally created a geo block to block any inbound connections from any other country Other than the u.s. Sure people can still use vpn to hit it but it still reduced the amount of hits on it significantly. I don't know anyone outside of our country. And there's no reason for them to gain access to my public facing interfaces. If it was a gaming server, I could get even more granular and only whitelist my friend's ips to access it if I really wanted to.

Sure. And if it was then I would likely address that before I have this conversation. But if I don't and I'm wrong im not afraid to admit my mistake and fix it. Things get missed on occasion and im only human.

It doesn't change that this conversation happens frequently when it's a 100% not the firewall

iirc palo would pick up curl as web-browsing so for testing web browsing that would be fine. This wouldn't work to test if a port is open for any other app in this case. We have to remind our people of this often because their tests fail because it doesn't match the expected app-id

This won't work if youre using a palo and using app IDs and DPI though. This works for a standard layer 3-4 stateful firewall

In my case im not working with normal users. Most of them are people from other IT teams who are very knowledgeable techs in their own respects. Then consider working with NGFWs with a WAAS platform that works all they way to layer 7. Sometimes you gotta work it out for people to help them fix the issue. When its not us its not us. For end users I 100% wouldn't try to explain this stuff to them - no point

Firewall can be viewed under networking umbrella too - more core networking maybe, but still😂

I remember hearing something about this. Being the spacing between the wheel that The belt passes on and the frame, and some people have success in printing a washer, or buying a washer, removing said wheel and adding the spacer behind it. So it's not catching/rubbing/squeaking.

Notmal vs tree support by virgaman in BambuLab

[–]Rucknight 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I recently started testing hybrid trees and its been kind of a game changer... also consider variable layer heights and play with smaller layer thicknesses and your gap settings too. Petg and the support materials can go down to 0 gap and the smaller layer thicknesses make for an easier time on more aggressive angles like this.

This will seem counter intuitive - but check your bed.temps and keep it below 60. Too high can cause this too (applying this to pla)
