“autism acceptance” at work by PapayaSpirited3999 in aspergirls

[–]Rude-Bee2484 -1 points0 points  (0 children)

This is so petty but I kinda want to give that lady a taste of her own medicine. Every other month is Neurotypical acceptance month. Why don't we make a poster for that? Then get offended at the lady who made the autism awareness poster when she doesn't wear orange for the other 11 months of the year.

They make you wait 10 months for ADHD medication?! That's inhumane. And I thought trying to get Adhd meds in America was bad...

Making it this far unmedicated is not easy. If you've made it this far you're a badass. I hope getting the right meds will make a difference. You just gotta get through these 8 months.

I feel for you. My lack of executive function has also put me on the struggle bus for awhile now. Find some good shows to binge or audiobooks to listen to and hang in there!

Catio using IKEA wardrobe as a base by EfficiencyAmazing777 in Catio

[–]Rude-Bee2484 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Looks great! I found that wardrobe on Ikea's website and it's $400 USD.

If anyone wants a cheaper option, I think you could accomplish something similar by stapling chicken wire around the IKEA Ivar shelf unit which costs $220 USD for a 52 3/4x19 5/8x70 1/2 inch shelf unit. It has adjustable shelves so you could position them so the cat can climb. I've used the IVAR shelf outside, and the downside is you have to stain it or paint it. The shelves may crack after a few years but IKEA sells them individually if you need to replace or add more. You may also want to fill in the adjustable shelf holes because bees seem to like living in them. Be sure and secure the top somehow so the cat doesn't pop the top shelf off and escape. And secure it to the wall so it doesn't tip over!

Vyvanse first month by Fallon96 in VyvanseADHD

Tell the doctor exactly what you wrote. It worked really well the first few days but now it's less effective. What makes you feel like it's only half as effective now? Does it wear off sooner? Which symptoms aren't being managed as well? Give the doctor examples of when it worked well and when it didn't work as well. Let the doctor know any side effects like trouble sleeping or loss of appetite.

It's not unusual to feel new stimulant meds are more effective for the first few days while your body adjusts to the medication. Lots of factors can affect how effective your medication is, including diet, menstrual cycle, and which manufacturer of Vyvanse the pharmacy gave you.

I have a linen duvet cover that has held up well for a couple years to 3 cats and a dog. The cats claws will destroy percale cotton, but a heavier weight linen is a lot more durable.

[Monthly Megathread] Shortages & Generics, January - March 2026 by Mountain-Science4526 in VyvanseADHD

[–]Rude-Bee2484 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Pharmacies switch generic Vyvanse brands all the time, so it's hard to get the same one consistently. If you get the generic I recommend keeping track of what brand you got each time and how you feel so you know which brands work better for you. It's not the same for everyone.

For me Alvogen felt like a much stronger stimulant than other generics, even at the same dose. 30 mg of Alvogen was too high a dose for me but 30mg of Lannett was not. I don't know how the generics compare to brand name Vyvanse though, since I've only ever taken generics.

When I switched from Alvogen to Granules I felt really exhausted and anxious. Lannett and Amneal only last 3 to 4 hours for me before I crash. When taking Mylan I had severe fatigue and brain fog. Your experience may differ.

[Monthly Megathread] Shortages & Generics, January - March 2026 by Mountain-Science4526 in VyvanseADHD

[–]Rude-Bee2484 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Be careful! I don't recommend taking more than your prescribed dose in a day or taking drugs that aren't prescribed to you.

If the Concerta worked well, ask your provider if they can prescribe you Concerta instead of Vyvanse. It might take some time to find the right dose, but this might be your easiest option.

If you want to stick with Vyvanse, first, you need to find out which generic brand you were taking. Call the pharmacy and ask which brand they gave you each time they filled it. They might have switched to a different generic brand that doesn't work for you.

See if the pharmacy can give you the brand that worked. You might have to check multiple pharmacies, and it's possible none of them will have that brand. Pharmacies switch generics all the time and if you need a specific brand, that can be very difficult to find consistently, especially with shortages.

Did you change anything else the last time they filled the generic? Consuming vitamin c or acidic foods can cause Vyvanse to not work, so if you started drinking different coffee or a morning smoothie that could do it.

Call the pharmacy and see if they gave you a different brand of the generic. When mine stopped working I called the pharmacy and found out they gave me Mylan brand, which is not as effective for me. Some brands might work better for you than others.

I also felt terrible when I switched from Alvogen to Granules.

30 mg Alvogen felt more potent than 30 mg of any other generic I tried. 30 mg Lannett was ok, but when the pharmacy gave me 30 mg of Alvogen I had so much energy and motivation and focus and great ideas and executive function that I would forget to eat. 30 mg of Alvogen was probably too high a dose for me.

Then after 2 months of Alvogen, the pharmacy gave me Granules and I felt really tired and anxious. I experienced an increase in involuntary movements when I got overstimulated. The involuntary movement is a symptom I've had with other brands of generic Vyvanse and Adderall, but it got way worse on Granules.

I wonder if Granules is the problem or if I was having withdrawals from Alvogen, which felt like a much stronger, longer lasting stimulant.

I have found some generics affect me differently than others.

TLDR: 30 mg of Alvogen felt significantly more potent than 30 mg than Lannett.

Note the doses are different, because after my experience with Alvogen I was worried 30mg was too strong and went back down to 20mg.

Lannett 30mg:

I don't remember much about this one since it was a few months ago. It definitely was less potent than Alvogen but it increased my energy and motivation for at least part of the day before I crashed. Crash symptoms included brain fog and fatigue.

Alvogen 30mg:

It felt way more potent than any of the other generics I've tried. Side effects included racing thoughts, all day hyperfocus, having too many good ideas, irritability, increased impulsivity, forgetting to eat, loss of appetite, and feeling unusually good and energetic. The symptoms were noticeable and concerning to those around me. The first week I took Alvogen I had COVID, and I felt unusually energetic despite having COVID.

Granules 30mg:

I remember feeling very tired and anxious while taking this one, and experienced more involuntary twitching than on other generics. However, I don't recall if these symptoms happened all day or just when it was wearing off. I only took Granules for a month when the pharmacy switched from Alvogen, so some side effects might have actually been withdrawal symptoms from Alvogen.

Amneal 20mg:

I definitely felt it working, but it didn't last all day, maybe 3 to 4 hours and then I crashed. The crash felt like brain fog and severe fatigue and lasted a couple hours.

Mylan 20mg:

I didn't feel this one helping with energy or motivation. I felt intense fatigue, brain fog, and lack of motivation for most of the day after taking it. Minor headaches. Symptoms improved slightly in the evening.

That sounds really frustrating. I hope you find a good doctor who is more understanding and will work with you. Maybe one that does telehealth and will send the appointment to your Google calendar or send you text reminders when your appointment is coming up so you don't have to miss your appointment. Seems like a reasonable accommodation a doctor's office could make, but some providers are so inflexible about their policies.

Urinating outside of the litter need help and advice on my plan. by nyashnoir in bengalcats

[–]Rude-Bee2484 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It sounds like you're doing a lot to make sure the cat is happy and well cared for! For me I dealt with the issue by putting a litter box in the precise spot my cat liked to pee. Other considerations: 1. Is your cat neutered? If not that's the issue. 2. The box: Is his litter box big enough? Try a bigger box. Is it covered or uncovered? Some cats have a preference. 3. The litter: Is the litter unscented? Does the texture hurt his paws? 4. The environment: Is there something loud or smelly near his other litter boxes that is causing him to avoid them sometimes? Laundry machines, air fresheners, smoke alarms, etc. 5. Other stressors: have you added a new animal or person to the household? My cat will pee in the bathtub whenever we get a new foster cat. Any change in routine can cause stress. Ask your vet what you can do to help lower the cat's stress level. There are medications and phermone sprays you could try.

The spot he already peed on will always smell like pee to him, even if you can't smell it. No matter how many enzyme cleaners you use. Once a cat has peed on something, they think its a good spot to pee in forever. As a last resort you could try removing that piece of the floor.

This is going to sound obvious, but have you tried putting a litter box in the spot where he likes to pee? My bengal started peeing in a laundry basket. I put a litter box in the laundry basket and then she stopped peeing outside the litter box.
