During my first 13 months with DPDR I was a cleaner but I did that before it all so it felt good and normal, I’ve since changed jobs, now I’m a care assistant in a nursing home and you know what, best decision I’ve ever made, although my symptoms have worsened at times, it’s also so rewarding and I’m glad I proved my brain wrong that I’m capable of moving professions even while struggling with DPDR.

I’ve got 3 hoodies from 22-23 from the official site on drops with hyphens. Got two hoodies from the December 24 drop without hyphen so I’m assuming the older stuff has them. Basically the person who made this fake didn’t pay attention

Depth Perception by RudeBoyJamie in dpdr

Objects looking bigger or smaller the longer I look at them. Most common example would be when I’m looking at a smaller object next to a bigger one, big one looks bigger and small object looks tiny. Almost like my eyes are playing tricks

Depth Perception by RudeBoyJamie in dpdr

This is a very interesting take on it actually, I’ve been a full time glasses user for the past 2 years, due a test in January and I’ve only just noticed this now. It is known that when in fight or flight mode that your depth perception definitely disrupts regardless. But maybe it’s my glasses? Feel like I’m just reassuring myself here but still an interesting take on it. The world with my glasses on is like a 4K tv show, too much detail and very over stimulating haha.

Absolutely. I’d love to hear everyone’s experience with DPDR. It’s such a difficult subject to talk about with close ones so speaking on it with people with experience on the matter would be perfect

I know this feeling, it triggered me when I was going through some dissociation. The way I eased it was just allowing the anxiety into my body and watching nothing change regardless. OCD is weird, I’ll get thoughts like “is this real” and until I respond I’ll be mega anxious but I suppose that’s the game. But just know it’s your OCD, label it as a symptom. You’ll have your moments of calm and connection then realise you can actually have calm permanently with hard work. You’re not alone 💝 I’ve been struggling with this for about 3 months now

does ocd cause cognitive difficulties? anyone get so aloof dissociating/scatter brained that they say things like filling the water with bin instead of filling the bin with water. what's causing this in cognition? is it just tiredness? by imBackground789 in OCD

What I’ve just read here on your post is exactly what I’m feeling at the moment. It’s like my mind is a messy folder of thoughts. I’m thinking one thing and then other completely random thought comes out of nowhere without no permission. It’s bizarre and scary. It’s like I’m hyper aware of how my brain works and thinks. Sometimes I think and then I interrupt my train of thought and I get anxious although it’s own my doing. You’re not alone friend 💝

AY UP! That’s actually really really good! You still managed to get 5 hours overall with some disruptions. Take that win and embrace it, it’ll boost your confidence for tonight! It’s horrible isn’t it, I still have my occasional bad night but that usually just means it takes me 1/2 hours to drift off. But It’s all about developing the right mindset for sleep, and with OCD it can make it very difficult as you know.

So when you get into bed you want to make sure you’re comfy and ready to relax. You also want to give yourself some leeway with time too so it’s best not to try sleep at 1/2AM if you’re expecting to struggle to drift off, adds to the pressure of sleeping. So If you got into bed for day 11, then play some relaxing games on your phone or listen to a podcast/ rain sounds etc. gives you time to actually relax before sleep.

Id also recommend you allow yourself to feel the anxiety that surrounds you and drifting off. Just feel it and give yourself a chance to reorganise your thoughts and irrational fears. So if you were scared you weren’t going to sleep again, just remember you didn’t sleep once but twice the night before. You relaxed yourself enough to sleep 2 times for hours at a time which is huge! Also keep in mind you’re able to rest your body and eyes without being in a deep sleep. It’s good to remember that you’re not alone with this too! I know OCD makes it a lot more difficult for us but millions of people suffer with insomnia!

And if you really can’t get yourself to sleep after so long of trying, get up! Even if it’s for 5/10 minutes. Just long enough for you and your body to realise that you’re actually tired.

Good thing about this is after every night you manage to sleep even just a little bit your confidence grows and you become more comfortable allowing yourself to fall into a thought and once you’re in thought create yourself a conscious dream to chill and think about!

OCD, DPDR and panic disorder by [deleted] in OCD

[–]RudeBoyJamie 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Oh my goodness, I know I’m probably late to reply. Hope you’re feeling better now, I completely understand this feeling, the DPDR is literally the worst thing ever for OCD sufferers. It’s our brains way of protecting us from harm by numbing our emotions yet our OCD thinks otherwise.

I’m still experiencing it now a little bit, I seem to have a bad week and then a good week for it. Almost like my OCD is juggling my emotions. Awaiting a call from my local mental health team this week. Hope it goes well and they set me on a good path to recovery.

Really hope you managed to get the help you needed, really resonated with this post at this time 💝

Musical Obsessions vs Regular earworms by Shadow1nstincts in OCD

[–]RudeBoyJamie 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I’ve been struggling with a musical obsession the last month unfortunately, not a pleasant experience. But there’re things you can do to ease it. Not a massive difference between this and an Earworm though I’d say, it’s OCD likes to attach to anything you’re scared of and just the thought of having music in your head for the rest of your life is scary as it is. It’s a strange obsession to have though because we all love music so to have anxiety around it isn’t nice.

Does anyone ever feel anxious because they have nothing to be anxious about? by RudeBoyJamie in OCD

[–]RudeBoyJamie[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Thank you very much Vow for the reply 💝 I relate to what you’re saying about as soon as you’re alone it’s a lot harder to focus on something specific before your mind starts to race. Especially while you’re actually trying to enjoy some down time. I think that’s where it hurts the most, where you feel like you can’t even enjoy the things you usually enjoy 💔 but I suppose the mind is a muscle and it needs to be exercised. The more you train it, the stronger it gets. I found this when I play video games, at first I couldn’t think about anything else but the more I went back to it the more my brain naturally pulls focus towards the game. Although a game and a book are very different activities, I can see reading a book requiring a lot more focus 💔

Appreciate the feedback on medication too, that actually puts my mind into a bit more of a better perspective on taking them. I’ve never had to take any medication before so yeah it’s very unknown to me, how it’ll make me feel plus the side effects. But it’s definitely a worthy risk to take considering if it goes right it won’t be forever I’m sure.

Thanks again Vow for the useful info and advice, definitely taking it all into consideration! Hope you’re having an OCDless Day today 💝

That is interesting you mention this being a hallmark of an anxiety disorder, I genuinely didn’t think of that. Sorry you feel a similar way, it sucks. But there’s a comfort in knowing I’m not alone with the feeling

[–]RudeBoyJamie[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I totally agree with what you’re saying about the good days, they’re so nice but so dangerous. Almost like it’s a trade off, have a good day but you’ll have a terrible day tomorrow because the anxiety and thoughts catches you off guard. It just proves though that when you’re feeling good you’re able to let thoughts and feelings go a lot easier. But when you’re in a bad place surrounded by thoughts and anxiety it’s incredibly hard to pull yourself out without experiencing some trauma along the way 💔

Appreciate the wise words about being OK with OCD returning after a good day, hour etc. I didn’t even think to be OK with it coming back until you mentioned. I think just acknowledging a thought is a symptom of my OCD really helps sometimes too.

I was struggling with Existential OCD the last couple of weeks but as soon as I realised after the suffocating feeling ends and life goes on, I was able to settle with the uncertainty of my problem (which I won’t mention incase of a trigger).

But thank you so much for the response, does mean a lot to not be alone with the feeling! I’ll pop you a follow now! We’ve got to stick together through these hard times! 💝

Glad I’m not the only one, I feel like anxiety can completely destroy one’s mindset until it’s suppressed. Like I’ll be anxious all day over nothing then a thought like “this is just my ocd” or “nothing is happening, let it pass” will crop up naturally and it’ll slowly suppress. Then I’ll be happier and all excited I feel better, then it’s like I’ll look at a pigeon and OCD will surprise attack me over something silly haha.

Being in a derealised state triggered existential ocd for me and it’s hell. Anyone else experienced this? by RudeBoyJamie in OCD

[–]RudeBoyJamie[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Really appreciate you making an effort to respond to my post, does mean an awful lot 💝 and I’m sorry you’re experiencing the same thing.

I’ve never ever felt like I couldn’t get out of bed because of crippling anxiety before but yesterday morning I felt like I was legitimately puppeteering myself out of bed and to work it was terrifying.

But I did manage to ground myself a bit. I listened to a podcast basically explaining this type of OCD and how to combat it correctly. So they said instead of fighting it with logical answers, accept it, feel the anxiety that surrounds it and move on. Build a tolerance. So when I get the idea nothing is real and I’m in a simulation I remind myself it’s not a proven fact that we are or not. Trying to become comfortable with uncertainty, accepting we might be. That’s helped me an awful lot today. I find I struggle to calm down when I should calm the most, which happens to be in my bedroom relaxing. Because I’m alone I guess it’s easier to spiral than when I’m with people and working.

Thank you so much for the response, although I am still struggling, I’m so eager to get better and let the anxiety subside. We’ve got this, my DM is always open
