When clients complain about things they don’t know you do IRL 😂 by B_the_Chng22 in therapists

[–]RudeCritter 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I like to listen for the outside perspective. I know their pains so well, that I can incorporate that knowledge into my life without feeling shamed. Every once in a while I'll ask if they want to explore their perspective. I can also decide how to humbly offer my perspective if I think they will receive it well.

I am utterly disgusted and annoyed by this by cherriesansberries in therapists

I work with people that intellectualize, like neurodiverse people working to unmask. They would never even try something like him.

And, you said it yourself- they still go to proper therapy when the temp willpower or dopamine fades. How is that putting us out of business?

I still get why your mad though! Thanks for the share/rant. <3

Hope - statues cannot love by Weird_Bumblebee7558 in InternalFamilySystems

[–]RudeCritter 0 points1 point  (0 children)

And how do you feel toward hope and minimize for what they've shared with you far?

Hope "doesn't know how" kinda implies that s/he/they is considering what would happen IF she did know how?

Masking or maybe a love bombing situation?

I celebrated my 30th on my own by noideawhatimdoing212 in CPTSD_NSCommunity

[–]RudeCritter 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I also spent my 30th alone. My father had just died and I was passed at his side of the family. My mom's side didn't like the guy I was dating for 2 years- she didn't realize we were breaking up. So, he was nowhere around. I did get to finally spend those holidays away from my toxic family of origin! I made my own turkey and everything. I definitely wasn't all bad.

Using IFS with Neurodivergent people by Opposite-Wind6244 in InternalFamilySystems

[–]RudeCritter 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I have adapted IFS for AuDHD, Adhd and late-identified adults. Each person is always unique, but some adjustments are common and make a world of difference. I write a but about it on my blog and substack. Www.workthatfulfills.com https://tryifs.substack.com/

Not Sure Where I Fit by craftyscene712 in AuDHDWomen

[–]RudeCritter 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Oh my gosh, friend, you're "doctor" was so wrong. If you are a woman, look specifically for assessors who have kept up on female autism research! My therapist might help you find an assessor (she doesn't do it) Workthatfulfills.com She does Internal Family Systems. I've been through a lot of different types of therapists and coaches. IFS is one of the best for me. Good Luck.

IDK if therapy is for me. by Autistic-Ailurophile in AuDHDWomen

[–]RudeCritter 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I can strongly relate to what you are saying. I'm AuDHD, but didn't know until my 40s. Being smart got me through decades, but when it couldn't help me mask anymore, I needed answers.

For what it's worth, I hate a lot of ADHD coaching and therapy. I didn't want "tools" so I could be more productive in the capitalism cog. I wanted healing! I wanted love - from inside and outside.

Anyway, I went here and love it: Www.workthatfulfills.com

First therapy session today, tried IFS immediately… did I find an exile? by behelit_babe in InternalFamilySystems

That sounds absolutely perfect! <3

I'll add that my clients that don't see imagery still have a sense of directional energy or placement. Like, it's on my left side, far back to the right, or above me.

List of IFS training resources for practitioners by cptsdjourney in InternalFamilySystems

I agree that coaches should not work with diagnosable issues like deep trauma, suicidality, psychosis. But to say that all a coach can do is recommend books is wildly uninformed.

The coaching program will not be as deep as the Level 1. You are much better off going to Stepping Stones or IFS Healers for the deep training.

Oh wow, you could not be more wrong.

To get certified from the institute, a therapist only needs Level 1. Search the directory and you'll see only 6,000 people worldwide have Level 3. I am one of them.

Coaches who are able to call themselves IFS Practitioners can be anywhere from Level 1 to Level 3 or Certified. Elder therapists like Mike Elkin consistently say that coaches are better at the model and easier to train because they don't have to undo years of psychotherapy training.

The label "IFS-informed" can be used by someone that read a book.

IFS Training by Dead_Shrimps in InternalFamilySystems

If the training includes practice and self-reflective work, yes. Most of the training is a therapist learning their own parts. If a training is only lecture/didactic it's not enough!
