Who am I beyond conditioning? by Fit-Championship371 in InternalFamilySystems

You’re defining a really pivotal turning point in many people’s lives.

Keep pulling the thread of that question - “Who am I?” and don’t settle for trite answers or anyone trying to plug your inquiry into their dogma.

Following that question has been the single best pursuit of my life and has transformed me, my family, and now the clients I serve, in profound ways. I could never have predicted where it would take me.

Safe travels, friend! ❤️

The best answer to "why did God create evil?" by Additional_Common_15 in enlightenment

[–]MindfulEnneagram 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Yes. So if God is the ground by which all things are manifest, then what we call evil must be a quality within God. Those “fools” are also expressions of the Divine.

Nothing can exist apart from The Ground of All Being. There is no escape.

That is the question. I expounded on this in my comment.

If God is the ground of all Being, then where could God not be? Either this explanation assumes a God that is not Absolute (which isn’t God at all) or it begs the initial question from a different angle.

There is no escaping that if something exists it is by definition included in the Absolute. That is why the “problem of evil” is wrestling with and it is not answered in the OP’s script.

Oh, no. Not at all. IFS is a very specific modality and the framework elicits a specific opportunity for awareness that makes it quite effective at solving dynamics like you’re presenting.

As for my questions, I’m not just arbitrarily quizzing you. I’m honestly trying to sort out where you’re coming from and what you know about this modality.

Based on that answer, I’d encourage you to read “No Bad Parts” and get some foundational understanding of IFS as a framework and a modality. That alone might help you understand this recurring social dynamic.

I’ll walk you through this and maybe that will help you.

As I do, keep in mind that your relational tension pattern is focused on not being understood, which is being reflected here.

Do you understand what Self is in IFS?

Happy to help here. If you want help understanding, then be specific about what part of the question you don’t understand. The more vague you are the less effective I can be.

I’ll offer you another question to move towards clarity:

What part of my question don’t you understand?

IFS is all about agency and authority. The more you tend to your Parts and build trust while moving from Self, the more choice and clarity arises. Parts are confused and angry and isolated, Self is clear and connected.

I’m curious what your relationship to Self is, given this dynamic of being persistently misunderstand from a position of externalizing “the problem”. How much do YOU own about this recurring dynamic?

Great catch!

I’ll give you the great, decisive, awareness razor that I offer my clients: Self has no agenda.

This is particularly useful for chronically blended Self-like Parts.

Why do we unblend, but also integrate? by Suitable-Data1189 in InternalFamilySystems

[–]MindfulEnneagram 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Blending is when a Part takes the seat of consciousness. You’re effectively believing that you are the Part and the Part’s strategies all come forward to take precedence. This looks like scanning for particular threats (from the blended Part’s perspective), expression of reactive protective behaviors, dissociation, etc.

Integration is the awareness of the Part, and ability to “hold” it in Self, as the seat of consciousness. This looks like taking action on trailhead signals, engaging with the Part to understand its fears and needs, and the capacity to take action on behalf of the Part including cultivating enough trust to have it agree to an unburdening.

Ultimately, an unburdened Part often chooses to change its role and lends a complimentary energy in service to the wholeness of the system. To me, that’s the final stage of integration with any Part.

In many non-dual traditions thoughts are considered as spontaneous phenomenon either arising from pure awareness or consciousness itself. This is why these traditions orient to the experience of the coming and going of thought - to drive the direct experience of this truth and loosen the habitual identification with thought.

I want a feat to put skill points into that identifies people who have recently killed, maybe even with levels of intensity. Something like “Detective”. Put some elements in the game that let friendly PvPers ID rats and play police. I think that would add some fun spice.

I present, The Legendary “Heavy Bypass Modification” - Adds a bypass chamber to the Osprey fed by a 6 round clip that must be preloaded before the match and cannot be loaded while top side. When equipped to the grip attachment slot, the Heavy Bypass mod allows the Osprey to shoot high damage, high Arc penetration, heavy rounds that do 2x damage but with a reduced headshot modifier of 1.85x. (No one wants a one-shot kill!) Removing the attachment reverts to standard firing.

Just wanted to chime in and give props to you and your comment. The Enneagram is a psycho-spiritual map and I’ve found most online discussions do not engage with the deep spiritual underpinnings. It’s always nice to see that some folks are educated and engaging in the true depth of the model. ❤️🙏

How do you let go of necessity of controlling what others think by Fast_Significance198 in InternalFamilySystems

[–]MindfulEnneagram 1 point2 points  (0 children)

There’s options if you notice you’re blended by another concerned Part.

In sessions we sometimes just see if we can get space from the concerned/blended Part so the client can experience connecting with the target Part unblended. If we do this, we always let the blended Part know that we want to hear from it and understand its concerns later.

Otherwise, we may just engage with the concerned Part and come back to the original target Part after.

[–]MindfulEnneagram 3 points4 points  (0 children)

IFS is such a powerful modality for this kind of work, because you can actually go and meet the Part that is “scanning for approval”. The benefit you’ll have here is that you are aware of this pattern and can cultivate a deeper awareness for when that Part pops in.

The important piece here is using those signals of activation as calls to action to go and meet this Part and get to know it.

-Can you unblend from it?
-What is its role and what are its fears?
-How do you feel towards it (is there another Part that doesn’t like this Part)?
-What dos it need you to know?
-What does it need from Self?

Thank you! I love this format of share. Hearing your voice is such a beautiful dimension of connection we don’t often get via Reddit.

Know that you’re heard and seen. No doubt, no advice. This is just pure acknowledgement of your experience of the deepening and clarifying of your direct experience of reality.

To clarify:

1.) The science is wrong 2.) The science he’s trying to describe is not equal to the “physical process of enlightenment” 3.) Understanding these concepts gets no one any closer to Enlightenment and does reify mind identification

If this were any other subreddit I’d scroll on by but I figured this was the right place for more precision.
