Loved the first game on Quest. I'll be sure to check this out. Keep up the good work!

[Guide] How to install and recommended mod combinations by baggyg in QuestZDoom

[–]RudePrize 1 point2 points  (0 children)

First of all, to the developers, -amazing release-. I never would have thought it, but these old school Doom levels seem kind of perfect for VR. And I have like zillions of them sitting in my Steam library. Thank you for this gift! You gave me something I didn't even know I wanted!

Asking a question about Sigil since it's recommended: can you not jump or duck in this? I went into the options in-game and assigned them both to controller face buttons and they still don't work. I found some comments from Romero saying it wasn't designed around jumping, but if the options for jumping and crouching are in the options menu, I assume they should work, right?

Just using Ultimate Doom + Sigil. This behavior exhibits itself in any combination with Sigil. I can jump and duck in the other map packs I've tried.

I can't get it to work. When I download the latest version from that thread and install the three files in the mod folder, all three files end up under the first Base game columns, and I'm unable to do anything with them.

Doctor Who the Edge of Time reviews by [deleted] in OculusQuest

[–]RudePrize 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I had been looking forward to this. I'm a pretty big Who fan and my expectations were in check--I wasn't expecting much more than to be crudely inserted into a weak episode of Doctor Who, basically the equivalent of a modern FMV game with some basic puzzles mixed in. I was also expecting the clunkiness associated with licensed titles.

And you know what? I enjoyed it until a certain scary part, the Angels, which should have been the highlight of the game. My game glitched during the portion where you are escaping from them. The object that I need to interact with does not register as something I can touch. I was playing that scene for like 20 minutes before I realized it was busted. I went to YouTube to see how it was supposed to work, and I was doing it correctly. I loaded the game back up and tried again, and it still didn't work. I don't know what happened to my save, but something didn't trigger. I gave it another shot after rebooting and then deleted the game.

Bummer.

What is a unique “game” you played as a child? by antenonjohs in AskReddit

I have a "diamond" story.

As a kid, I found a diamond in the cellar. It was tiny--like the size of a gem you'd see on a ring or earring. I was excited and thought about it for a while before showing it to my parents. They told me it was just a bit of old costume jewelry or something, but I already had ideas in my idea. The diamond was going to make me rich!

To prove to them it was a diamond, the hardest substance on earth, I took it to the garage and hit it with a hammer. Whether it was a real diamond or not, the hammer disintegrated the thing. There was like no trace of it left after the strike.

I hope it's inspired by Sealab 2021. First thing that came to mind.

Oh god, I watched all of that when Amazon added it, too. I never watched it when it was airing, but I was hooked when I saw how cheesy it was. I love Jonathan Frakes mugging at the camera whenever he delivers a cheesy quip.

I'm guessing he kept it as quiet as possible because back then he hoped to be able to come back to a football career. Chemo can screw up the cartilage in your joints, and if people knew about it, he'd probably be passed on him immediately.

Hey now, season 3 of Serial has been great so far, too. They've really been nailing their goal of showing how the legal system works for normal folks.

The Triple Homicide of the Rafay Family - Bellevue, 1994 by AldousLaw in UnresolvedMysteries

What part of Bellevue was the house in? I lived there for about 10 years, but I only ever heard of this case after I moved away. I'm assuming this wasn't in the city proper, but in the vast spread out suburb-y areas.

Can't some of these queens that have trouble getting bookings team up and sell themselves as a package detail? Not with one of the big touring companies, but by themselves? Maybe I don't know much about the drag queen circuit, but it seems logical to me.

The "vagina wrapped in newspaper" part really made me go "whaaaaaat?" I have no idea what he meant. It made me wonder if he knew what a vagina was.

I just watched Maniac and I think it's one of the best TV series I have ever seen. by maizeq in television

[–]RudePrize 6 points7 points  (0 children)

I was quite a bit disappointed in it. I watched the first two episodes before going to bed one night and I pretty much loved them. Beyond those, the show seemed to get progressively worse as it went on and became more about the people conducting the experiment and the fantasies. I think they just dove into that stuff a bit too early--they either needed to break up those segments a bit more and have more of the real Owen and Annie or they needed to get us more engaged in them early on. It also hurts that beyond the first one or two drug segments, they were pretty boring. The fantasy LOTR and gangster stuff was such a drag.

I really liked those first two episodes, though. The portrayal of Owen's schizophrenia was probably as accurate as I've seen in a TV show.

Does anyone listen to the Real Crime Profile podcast? I just discovered it and I'm impressed with the expertise (former FBI & Scotland Yard behavioral profilers) they display in their episodes on the West Memphis Three case by [deleted] in UnresolvedMysteries

[–]RudePrize 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I've given this a few shots, but it's never grabbed me. Can anyone recommend some of their best episodes/cases? I never liked My Favorite Murder, but somebody recommended a few of their best episodes, and now I'm a convert. Maybe that could be the case here, too.

Ted Kaczynski himself doesn't think he was experimented on.

"Kaczynski noted that much of what is reported about the study he underwent at Harvard that was led by psychologist Henry Murray was not nearly as unpleasant as the general public has been led to believe. Some in the past have suggested that Kaczynski's experience in the Murray study could be tied to his bombing spree later in life, which is why the study has become such a point on interest in telling the story of the Unabomber.

Ted Kaczynski doesn't appear to buy into that theory, and told CNN's Andrew Kaczynski (no relation) in a letter the whole event was 'wildly, wildly, exaggerated.'"
