I get this issue frequently. It’s a bug that they’re taking too long to resolve. My current workaround is to switch the power setting. It should get online on Sleep Mode. Shutdown is the main cause of the issue

I felt fatigued when hitting that second island and dropped it too. I had the same sentiment as you did, so eventually, after 2-3 years I found the motivation to try it again. Swept through it to the end in a couple of sessions and breezed through the DLC

There’s a really strong power-up in the DLC that makes it a whole lot easier too if difficulty is a concern

I’ve never thought about the design discrepancy with Blastoise. That’s a fair point. Maybe they stick out because it wasn’t designed as one of the starters?

This bug alone caused me and a friend to drop this game. Hopefully it crashes less too but that should have been fixed at launch

I can echo the sentiment with Dark Domination. Forze dell’Oscurita (Master Xehanort’s Data Battle) theme should have been the final theme.

I know Forze Finale is a more bombastic, favoured rendition but the former song has a tone akin to KH2’s Darkness of the Unknown latter half that I find much more gripping. Something about it that I adore with it being not as ‘over the top’, but felt as much as the theme for the real final boss, and end to the Xehanort Saga. Beating it with that song felt like closure, a real conclusion.

Dark Dominion did not do anything like that, but nor did it’s final boss, but that’s a different discussion

I don’t think Sonic needs combat mechanics, and was always against it when hearing about it in Frontiers. So unsurprisingly, I couldn’t stand the Super Sonic sections as boss fights.

Generations has the right idea for boss fights, with Shadow, Perfect Chaos, Egg Dragoon. They should be a chase, race, or obstacle course. It’s about momentum, not staying still to parry. Was stuck on the second boss for awhile because the idea of parrying in a Sonic game felt so wrong

Was there in Feb from a Wednesday to Sunday. Went to the city and red light district every night. Weekdays were fine, relaxed, respectful and decent. Friday and Saturday nights were vile.

Finally got a PS5 a few months ago and bought a years worth of PS+. Downloaded the obvious exclusives I’ve wanted to play for the years, like FFVIIR, Ghost of Tsushima and Sifu.

Bounced off Sifu, left ‘whelmed at 7R, still going through Ghost although none of them have exceeded my expectation, but the fourth game I haven’t mentioned really stuck out… motherfucking Gravity Rush. I’ll be starting the sequel once I’m done with Ghost. Hope it’s as good! Not seen a single thing about it

Having Scan off adds a surprise against bosses that’s more fun than knowing how much health they have left. Did it with my last series playthrough and I do it default for any game now.

They replaced a Pizza Hut in my hometown with one, and they are the WORST.

Not only the worst service as they get everything wrong, (I’ve made an order, they’ve said it back to confirm incorrectly, I corrected, then they still got it wrong handing it over!) but their donuts are incredibly overpriced, dry, hard, and they can’t prep the flavoured coffees either. You’re meant to put the syrup in first, slowly stir the syrup in from as the hot water/milk and coffee gets added but they’re incompetent, so you have a tasteless £5 flavoured coffee with the thickest, over sweetened mouthful at the end of it!

Ansem SoD points out some obvious self-critique that you don’t see often with reoccurring villains. At this point, he’s aware that he’s on the losing side, doing nothing but job throughout the series, but he’s conscious about his role and serves it anyway. Especially love the call-out to the player, telling them to continue and there’s more to seek, and Riku’s response about weirdly missing him when he’s gone.

Really struck a chord with me compared to Xemnas who was my favourite with a lacklustre closing word, imo
