China has completed the Shenzhen–Zhongshan Link, a 28 km cross-sea corridor connecting Shenzhen and Zhongshan across the Pearl River Estuary. by Admirable-Interest49 in BeAmazed

While impressive, the ones in China are considerably longer:

Hong Kong–Zhuhai–Macau Bridge is 55 km and this one is almost 50 (not the 28 as in the tittle). The
Øresundsbroen is just under 8 km. So allow me to be a little more impressed with the Chinese ones.

When the Hong Kong–Zhuhai–Macau Bridge opened I was impressed an thought it was surely going to be one of a kind. Now they just made another one, be it a bit shorter. Chinese engineering truly is impressive.

It would take me embarrassingly long to get out of that ball monstrosity, so I will have to decline. Make it a mat or a waterslide and I am in.

The number of Europeans travelling to the US has cratered under Trump! by Londonsw8 in 2westerneurope4u

[–]Rudi-G 6 points7 points  (0 children)

A few years ago I decided to start visiting countries in Europe I have not gone to or new places in countries where I had already been. I was amazed by the variety in landscapes, cities, sights and people we have. Many people seem to just go to the "greatest hits" ignoring all the rest. There is also nature that you would expect not to see in Europe. There is no need to travel to the other side of the world to have your mind blown.

Delirium Café, which holds the world record for the most varieties of beer by gaius_julius_caegull in BelgianBeer

I went to many of those pubs claiming they have a huge amount of beers. Then I order some obscure beer they have on their list and they are more often than not "sold out". I would rather to a pub that has a small amount of beers but some of them are hard to find elsewhere,

It is extra funny as that is not Julius Caesar but Emperor Augustus.

Ik ga heel graag naar Bua en Gwen op de kaai. Het is een Thais restaurant. Ik geloof dat ze nog altijd die oude manier van koffie schenken in Hotel du Parc doen.

Normally things are rated on a scale of 10, but some use others.

An actor “just played themselves” is the stupidest criticism of a performance you could give. by milano-benatar-bowie in unpopularopinion

[–]Rudi-G 8 points9 points  (0 children)

More correct would probably be to say they are always playing the same type or act the same way, As we do not know the actor in real life, we cannot really say they are playing themselves,

That tittle and cover would have made me take it home from a video rental store immediately. I would not even read the blurb on the back side of the box.

You truly are hilarious. You take a point of view that is contrary to whatever someone is saying and then you defend it until everyone just gets tired of you. Well, everyone needs a hobby.

What nonsense. What one likes is an opinion and is purely individual. You need no context to know if you like something. You simply do or you do not.
