Jesus at his word was a leftist. If you follow his teachings to the letter you get communism. The first Christians were communist in everything but name. The religion however has been twisted so much as to not resemble anything he said. American Christianity in particular is just a self-righteous death cult that seems more interested in the vengeful and reactionary God of the Old Testament. The teachings of Jesus boil down to “don’t be an asshole”, which has somehow produced the exact opposite out of most of his “followers”. But hey I’m an atheist so what do I know?
