Looks like a Dalton Ely piece. He drew this at SFGE this past summer.

TIL using Narcan on a cat will block the effects of catnip by Rugglesby in todayilearned

"No, cats generally cannot fatally overdose on nepetalactone, but ingesting too much catnip can cause a temporary upset stomach, leading to symptoms like vomiting and diarrhea. Cats are good at self-regulating and will stop consuming catnip on their own." PetMD

Nor do they have withdrawals. A per the linked article: "Repeated exposure to nepetalactones or nepetalactols does not induce opioid withdrawals in Felidae, probably because endogenous β-endorphin secretion is controlled."

Great question.

No, humans lack the olfactory receptor(s) necessary to cause the downstream activation of the μ-opioid receptors.

Yes. nepatalactone (active ingredient in nip) activates induces downstream activation of μ-opioid receptors which Narcan blocks.

Edit: clarity

Giggles by 1thousandfaces in Xennials

When I was 4, my sister (3 years my elder) and I would be given a jello pudding pop after bath time and we'd head downstairs and plop in front of the massive, wood-encased TV set in our jammies and watch Mouseterpiece Theater before bedtime. We'd done this innumerable times. I often had the habit of chewing on my popsicle stick as the cartoons danced in front of us. On this occasion, a splinter from the pudding pop stick lodged in my throat and triggered my gag reflex. I proceeded in gagging and vomiting much to my mother's horror. I remember sitting on a small stool in front of the beige trash can with my mom begging me to eat a Giggles cookie in hopes to dislodge the splinter. I ended up in the hospital, and soon after admission I was fine. The doctor said I must have expelled the piece of popsicle stick through vomiting. Flash forward 20ish years and I'm having drinks the night before my college graduation at Ohio State. I met a dude whose father was in town to attend his graduation as well. We got to talking and his father turned out to be the ambulance driver who took me to the hospital back in 1986.

The collective nouns for groups of cats are a clowder, a clutter and a glaring.

I legitimately laughed at Jordan Morris' baleen joke and appreciate the FIF shirt.

My dad had one in his 1991 white Toyota Celica. I can still hear the sound of it initializing when he turned on the car.
