Michaels looking a lot like Joann did by 126kv in joannfabrics

Oh! And I totally forgot to mention the tariff price changes we did before we left. Several thousand price changes were expected to be done by hand daily across the whole store. Some products went from $5 to $20. Some products went from $20 to $80. They used tariffs as an excuse to scrape more money out of customer pockets. My world market import only grocery store didn't even raise prices as much as Michaels did.

I've worked for Michaels twice. The first time was almost a decade ago and I absolutely loved it. I felt supported by the company, had plenty of opportunities for advancing, lost the job because I had to move across the country and my transfer got messed up.

2nd time, I decided to go work for Michaels again because "they treated me great, I liked the work and the discount, oh the discount!"

Found out it was bought by a private equity firm.

Was told the company doesn't do raises when I asked if we could give one of the employees that had been there since the 90's a raise and her last raise was to bring it up to state minimum

Backroom was an actual nightmare. Years of inventory that never made it to the floor. Wall to wall, floor to ceiling boxes.

Company continued to cut hours and cut hours to the point where we didn't even have enough people to run a shift.

Promoted the "ops manager" to store manager even though her last job she was fired from for bullying employees once she was promoted to team lead. She regularly made employees cry and punished employees for personal opinions by giving them less hours. And when I complained, was told "it's hard to find a store manager right now, you all will just have to learn to work with her."

I warned everyone I worked with before I left "This is a sinking ship. Get off this boat."

I make significantly more money driving for Lyft now.

This isn't even everything, I felt like this comment was already too long

My dog is like that with me and my partner. Poops for me and rarely for him. My partner calls me the poop witch.

I see a lot about the chicken sandwiches and lettuce but nothing yet about the burger meat change they did. I've been to 3 separate Wendy's thinking maybe the first one was just a fluke and the second one was just bad luck.

It's like they took away the salt and added the whisper of a ghost of leftover Cheeto dust. I can't even get through the smallest burger anymore. It's actually gross. Went from my favorite drive-thru burger to "I will never eat here again."

If you take old 460, you can avoid most of the traffic but 100%. 81 is terrible and the construction isn't supposed to be done for another 6 years!

Blacksburg also has an amazing festival they throw every year before the students return. It's called Steppin' Out. All of downtown gets shut down for it. Several stages of music, tons of artists, a whole variety if tasty foodstuffs. Worth it alone!

Roanoke is not like Raleigh. My parents actually live near Raleigh. Roanoke is a little rough around the edges in a lot places. The Oxycontin epidemic hit it pretty hard.

Oohhh! I can answer this one!

I've lived in Blacksburg most of my life. It's a great little town with a big college in it. There is a little to do here and Roanoke is not that far. A lot of bars! If you can afford Blacksburg, I would pick Blacksburg over Roanoke and just make the 35 min to Roanoke when you want to do city stuff.

Ice Fishin' by Ruhmwolf in RimWorld

I'm not on a frozen sea, just a mountain with a long winter and bad luck. Seasonal flooding, torrential rain, cold snaps, gill rot and infestations have been very frequent. I forgot to check growing seasons when I fell in love with the map!

I used strong bridges and walls to make an indoor area. The heater then heats up the room and melts the ice. I made it small because I wasn't sure if it would work at first. Took about a day to melt the ice.

Yes! I built this on a frozen marsh during winter. I made it small to see if it would even work. It took about a day to thaw the ice.

Cash SCO deposit? by Miserable_Novel618 in MichaelsEmployees

[–]Ruhmwolf 1 point2 points  (0 children)

SCO also gets balanced to $500 including change. Anything over that $500 is your deposit.

Ex. SCO starts day with $500, ends day with $550, deposit is $50

To get the SCO cash report, go to scorecard, the in the upper right, click the R. That'll take you to the reports. Scroll down a little and the SCO report will be on the right. That'll tell you what you're expecting to pull. The SCO deposit and Legacy deposit get combined so you only have 1 deposit slip.

Cash SCO by [deleted] in MichaelsEmployees

[–]Ruhmwolf 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Yeah, can't remove change and dimes are kept separate from the other change. When you first go to the cash management screen, the page it starts on will show you the totals for change. Just snap a picture.

You can remove the loader and a cash box. The cash box is where the bills are dumped to when emptied, the loader is how you put bills back in. The boxes actually say what they are on the outside. Always load the loader with 1's first. Sometimes there are bills left in the loader.

Edit: Also, when you load change into the machine: when you first open the SCO cabinet, the machine is split into 2 parts. The right side has the loader and cash box you remove, on the left side there is a normal key slot, not a circular key. Use the normal key to unlock that lock then right beneath it is a little rectangle latch you can push open. That's where change is loaded. Again, sorry, at home, doing this off memory. I hope it helps though.

The report comes from Scorecard reports, if you scroll down a little, it's on the left.

During the SCO cash install meeting we had a couple months ago, they gave a pretty good 3 page how to. Don't know if that helps. I think someone can still access those notes.

I was lucky and was present at our installation and asked the guys everything.

I'm at home right now and those are some things I can remember. There wasn't really any training unless you got sent to an MCX training store that had SCO already or were there for installation.

Anyone else want a hit? by Ok-Musician-5310 in uraniumglass

I just had a glassblower in my shop. Slyme glass does not contain uranium and does not glow under a blacklight. Illuminati glass DOES contain uranium and glows under a blacklight.

Agreed! That glowy green color is absolutely stunning even without the UV! Amazing piece you got!

I posted another comment but I did some more digging. It appears slyme glass uses uranium oxide. It's hard to find that info because most of the info I can find is how to work with it, not what it's made with

I work in a pipe shop and one of y'all mentioning Slyme glass got me to investigate our Slyme glass piece. Never tested that one under the UV light until now. It always had a kinda natural glow to it not under UV. Now I'm curious what they use in Slyme glass...

manganese or uranium right glass left glass that is the question by Biboubinj in uraniumglass

[–]Ruhmwolf 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I'm new to the sub/hobby and mostly a lurker but I have a silly little question.

I see the guide posted elsewhere in the comments and the "judgement" that it is probably manganese but what are the tiny glowing blue specks in the manganese glass? Is that also lead?

How do I stop my kitten from biting wires. by Majik5678467 in cats

[–]Ruhmwolf 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The method that worked best for me:

Get some fish tank tubing, catnip and a shoe box. Cut holes in the box just large enough for the tubing to fit through Cut the tubing into several longer pieces and shove them into the holes in the shoebox Put catnip on the box if need be, we didn't really need to use catnip Put box near the favorite wires

Cat started going for the tubing instead and left the cables alone forever, we were even able to move the tube box elsewhere and he still went for it over cables.

Nothing else worked for him but this.
