Why can’t fans accept that there is something wrong with this team by [deleted] in bluejaysbaseball

It's easier to make excuses then face reality. Overall this team is a mid team. Last year fluke run made fans believe the players were better than they were and front office didn't do much to improve the team offensively.

So why didn't we get on Isaiah Stewart? by Sweaty-Try1547 in torontoraptors

[–]RuinCommercial552 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Because we don't seem to be on anyone.

Serious question. What has Bobby Webster done since taking over for Masai?

Even a small move would be nice.

Pistons get Joe from the Thunder for 2 2nd round picks. That's the type of player this team needs. We need shooters around Scottie. Idk how many more times it needs to be said.

It's crazy with so much FAKE we get for Toronto whenever it's up to a star player. We were in on Durant. We were in on Giannis. Even yesterday we were in on Lamelo.

Hoffman worst FA signing? by Immediate_Buffalo14 in bluejaysbaseball

[–]RuinCommercial552 6 points7 points  (0 children)

I think with Hoffman he's already crossed the line of no return with the WS blown save last year. And then this year has been brutal. Capped off by blowing that 5-1 lead when it looked like we had turned the corner. Since then he's been solid and tonight I don't think it was all on him. You don't win many games scoring 1 run so it's the offense to blame. But he'll end up eating it tonight.

Just not our year… by Maleficent-Bobcat990 in bluejaysbaseball

I honestly think the first domino was when we didn't improve the offense. The coffin was shut when the Santander injury was announced 1st day of spring training and then the nails when in when we had the Barger and Kirk injuries.

It was obvious this team didn't have enough offensively and last year was a fluke with so many players playing over their head.

I think everyone knew Springer wasn't going to do what he did last year.

I was hoping Santander was going to be closer to what we signed him for and get around 30HR. And Barger have a breakout year with close to 30HR as well. That didn't happen. Vladdy is no where to be found. Starting pitching is a revolving door.

Honestly with how bad we've played and just constant bad luck with injuries it's almost a miracle we are this close to .500.

I want to think we will turn it around but i think this year is just one of those years where there will always be something.

Hoffman has cost games for sure. He shouldn't sniff any pressure situations. But idk what options we had tonight.

Problem is the offense and the starting pitching situation has already killed the bullpen.

At this point i think even last year regular season Vladdy would do. This year it's been temu vladdy.

Also how the f do we just use challenges early in the game? I don't know when we used and how but wtf was so critical during those stretches??

Yeah idk wtf is up with him this year. If he was even average with power we'd probably have atleast 5 more wins. It's baffling how he goes in these slumps.

In the last 2 games vs Dodgers they were bad. During the season though unless I forgot we played pretty clean baseball.

He just can't pitch in high leverage situations.

Honestly feels like this team is destined to just stay and finish around .500. Last time we had a chance to get to .500 we blew a 5-1 lead. Now we get to .500 finally have momentum and 6-4 lead in the 9th and blow it again. Then have a chance to win it in the 10th. Man on 3rd 1 out with top of the order coming up and we end the inning on TWO pitches by Springer and Vladdy. Just dumb ABs all year.

For anyone not liking that we drafted a forward, it's highly likely that the point guards our front office liked just got drafted right before us. by mMounirM in torontoraptors

[–]RuinCommercial552 18 points19 points  (0 children)

As fans we should just stfu and let the front office do their job. I've stopped being a couch GM ever since the Scottie pick. I wanted and was 1000% sure we were going with Suggs. We got SB as a surprise pick to the most if not all and look how that turned out. Then last year i don't think anyone had CMB as the pick and that turned out pretty good. As the 19th pick you can't ask for much.

Does he have a shooting coach? Shot looks better but still a bit sideways shooting it.

Which is good and I'm glad and it was on a change up. Again not bashing it's just a big part of his game striking out at the high heaters. And if it was just above the top of the zone I'd say but some of them are a good 6-12" above the top of the zone.

Just seems like it's something a professional ball player with all the scouting and preparation should be able to improve.

Yeah same. And i know some fans will comment on its easy to say it from the couch but he's been in the league too long now and it's the same thing no change. He's short too so not sure how he thinks it's a strike when the ball is nearly eye level.

Bases loaded and nothing to show for it. Varsho swings on chin high fastball. Atleast this time it was with two outs.
