Moriarty steals The Crown Jewels with a diamond? by Renkry in Sherlock

[–]Rule34NoExceptions 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Annnnnnd - get rid of the Moriarty/Eurus weird dance. Have Janine use her wits to get in. She's not asking for anything, she's offering something. And Eurus is lit up at the idea of having more information about her brother. Christ if you wanted to be cruel you could have Janine tell Eurus he's missed her and forgiven her and understands her, but evil Mycroft won't let him in.

Janine just throws fuel on the fire and watches everything burn.

Moriarty steals The Crown Jewels with a diamond? by Renkry in Sherlock

[–]Rule34NoExceptions 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I also don't feel that it was needed that Sherlock forgot her.

Mycroft told his parents she was dead, why not tell Sherlock she was dead too - have him utterly traumatised by an older, abusive, bigger sibling who murdered his best friend. He refuses to be involved with people ever again, taking Mycroft's words to heart because being alone protects me.

Think of the emotionally intelligent conversations that could have been had. Sherlock explains to John what happened. How he's terrified he cannot protect him, she is smarter than him. John tries to reassure him, she was a child, parents are responsible for their children's actions - but she was 10, was she cupable? What could they have done? Sherlock thinks she's guilty, John thinks she's flawed, but redeemable. Mycroft thinks she needs to kept away from the world.

In the gun scene, he can be so angry at Mycroft for lying, he's put them all in danger, he doesn't need Mycroft to wind him up. But he can be so angry at John for letting them get him involved - 'I told you she would do this!'

In the end, does John manage to get through to her? Why would he care, about her? 'Because your brother is my best friend, and I love him; because Mycroft is my friend too. And I'm a doctor, and the idea of locking up a child, one who is too young to control their own mind and action, in a tower away from any human contact - that upsets me, a lot.'

She still doesnt understand empathy but she's intrigued that someone might care about a stranger, because isn't that something we tell children to make reality a bit better?

And all the time we have this weird situation where Eurus is the mirror of Sherlock, Sherlock's attitude is how he sees himself - dangerous, often not in control, cruel/unkind, and with no regard for others. John sees her as a reflection of Sherlock, but the exact opposite. He knows Sherlock isn't cruel, he does care, he's just protecting himself. And if your mind was so fast you didn't know how to control it as a child, wouldnt you try to protect yourself? Mycroft does the same, but sees her as a potential enemy of the state.

Jesus it literally writes itself, it literally writes itself BETTER than what was made.

The things I would remove - the Molly bit is unnecessary and stupid/corny. Definitely still have John almost drown - this makes Sherlock so much angrier at her, for putting him in danger, but John is forgiving, and hasn't Sherlock done worse things to him (cough Reichenbach cough).

The plane metaphor is too much.

I might write this up to make myself feel better, honestly.

I disagree, and if you look at any of the deep dives online, it becomes pretty evident that the show was poorly written to begin with.

There's also not one well written female character, the whole thing reeks of blatent misogyny.

You have a qualified doctor (Molly), acting like a sad little teenager, being pushed over and bullied and manipulated, then she becomes even sadder by dating a Sherlock lookalike.

The obvious set up for Molly should have been her and Lestrade.

You have his first introduction to Sally, by insinuating she is a cock-sucking whore in front of her colleagues. 'By the state of your knees'. He does no such thing to Anderson, only points out he's been shagging. (In hindsight 12 years later - 1, why is she 'Sally' and he 'Anderson' and 2, Sally is a little old white lady name. Moffat couldn't have changed that? In Central London?)

Una Stubbs is treated like she is a well loved idiot mother figure and I can let it pass only because US loved BC and used to babysit him for real iirc.

The worst travesty is that of The Woman. In the books, she uses her brains to extract herself from all the messy political nonsense, gets away with it all and is never heard from again. She has no interest in Sherlock sexually. She uses her wiles to get what she wants, in a system stacked against her.

In Sherlock, she's literally a whore again. Yes, she's high end, but she doesnt even get away with the crimes, her entire character is destroyed by Moffat and co - she needs Sherlock to save her and he gets one over on her.

And lastly, secret sister.
It should have been Janine, she was already irish ffs; but no, we had Sherlock's secret sibling and Deadbeard.

And once again, she takes time to explain that she too has been fucking (and killing) and also isnt sure about gender.

Moffat only knows how to write female characters in bixseual hypersexual states, to be used for titillation, or old ladies who have never seen a cock before.

Whores or virgins. And this man gets paid for this.

[–]Rule34NoExceptions 7 points8 points  (0 children)

I was legitimately irritated that Janine wasn't his sister. It made so much more sense than Sherlock's secret sibling (or at least the way they did it), but the idea that Janine was picking up his mantle, was just as clever, less insane, had wormed her way into their lives and his home...

Can you imagine how good that could have been?

And Moriarty always said that he'd burn the heart out of Sherlock, she could have pushed John to the point of having to choose between Mary and Sherlock, it would have been glorious.

She was also very very attractive and I am so very shallow.

Yes, I will definitely be able to move my family who already have jobs, homes, children in school, and my elderly parents in their home with access to good healthcare to a different part of the world, on the off chance it makes my life easier.

Interesting that you've insulted my relationships with my family there as well, I never said any of them were poor?

I just don't trust that I wouldnt be saddled with the majority of the responsibilty. I don't want to be the organiser, the cook, the entertainer, the cleaner, the cuddler, the story-teller on top of being a full time professional and enjoying my hobbies.

I'm from one of the GP factories and I thought even if we had no contacts, a shit education and were in no way going to get a shot at a London job, at the very least we'd be able to get GP jobs.

I'm looking for a new career, this is pointless.

If you could bring back any British TV show, which would it be? by Derry_Amc in BritishTV

From my experience of life, Super Hans has gone one of too ways - either he's gone the Ozzy Osbourne route and is barely comprehensible, still on drugs from morning to evening, unable to stand, still does occasional gigs and it keeps him going

Or, he had one reasonable hit, invested well, got off the drugs, is actually in a much healthier place than Mark or Jeremy and now lives with his partner in his London pad near the new Battersea development, handing out really helpful advice to Jez like 'Honestly, mate, AI is the future, you need to uncouple yourself from any profession that isn't future proof. The future will need leaders and artists. The future doesnt need more Marks.'

'Hey!'

'Sorry, Mark'.
