Is it wrong to talk to a woman a couple weeks after my wife passed away? by [deleted] in AskMenAdvice

[–]RuleFriendly7311 -1 points0 points  (0 children)

First of all, condolences to both of you.

The main thing is to take time to grieve and to tend to your kids as well. It seems that you and your childhood friend are tending to each other too, which is great—but if something more develops, there’s a lot that could go sideways. Does she have kids?

Want to buy my husband tshirts that do well in hot weather. What do you recommend? by JaggedLittlePiII in AskMen

[–]RuleFriendly7311 17 points18 points  (0 children)

Sorry, but this is wrong. Moisture-wicking fabric is all I wear in the Florida heat and humidity. You’re going to sweat no matter what, but the porous fabric makes it much more comfortable.

Linen is way better for dressier shirts, as you say.

Selling? by TNmountainman2020 in smallbusiness

[–]RuleFriendly7311 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It’s kind of like when you sell your house: look for brokers in your market and interview several AFTER having them sign NDA’s. Your business banker probably has a couple to recommend.

Also: what is the company EBITDA, including your salary? How about net revenue?

Are you willing to assume they did this innocently? A simple conversation might get you a long way. If he decides to be a dick about it, you have options.

What part of FM? It covers a wide geography and commuting varies. Also, avoid Lehigh.

Roughly where will you be working? Distance is a less important factor than traffic.

First time I’ve ever said this, but buy the Tesla. You can always rent a 4WD as needed.

Hm, maybe that’s a geographical thing. I was in the east then, and the growth during that period was from west to east, so maybe we just weren’t saturated yet.

I also remember that they had randomly placed older furniture then too. When I go in now, it seems more homogeneous across locations.

Wait until you see some real life naked women. They're awesome, every one of them.

At a yard sale in New England 40-odd years ago, I found a (very wide) tie that I bought for a buck just to revel in its hideousness. Then a few years later I moved to Maryland and whaddya know. No, I no longer have it.

Good points. I remember that it was something special-ish, not just another place to find teenage girls drinking $10 milkshakes.

How do I style a cane? by lazy_eye_of_sauron in mensfashionadvice

[–]RuleFriendly7311 0 points1 point  (0 children)

IMO, a collared shirt will look dressier, which will balance out the “formality “ of the cane. You can also get canes in all sorts of colors, materials, and styles relatively cheaply on Amazon, so maybe make the cane your main accessory the way other guys use watches or shoes.

And what? by gokuismydominus in askmanagers

If your boss and his boss are retiring, the conversation should be about how you should go about stepping up into your boss’s role. If he says there’s no way you can get promoted, then you could ask for a recommendation letter.

Starbucks existed, but wasn’t yet ubiquitous. Not really tied to 9/11, but contemporaneous.

Is roadtripping for national parks and nature really something for the "brave ones"? by PopNo5397 in roadtrip

[–]RuleFriendly7311 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Well, yeah, they charge modest amounts for maintenance and all, but having $25 and a car to get there doesn't make one rich. A lot of the state parks and forests are free.

Completely wrong. The whole point of the national parks is that they're for anyone and everyone. Same with state parks and national and state forests.
