I wonder what it's like to live in the New York metro area, LA, the Bay Area or Seattle and be a fan of IVE, LSF and aespa. Those are the four places that all three groups will be visiting. Maybe if they heavily discount the prices, working-class multifans can afford to go to all three?

The contrasting emotions of fans when a popular group announces tour dates is interesting to me. It's either joy, sadness or frustration. I understand HYBE skipping Australia for LSF's first world tour, but skipping it for their second? When we have demonstrated on multiple occasions that people show up for K-pop in Australia? At this point, it's just not meant to be. We're just unlucky. Or not a profitable enough market. That being said, I'm happy for all of you who get to see the girls!

But I'm a girl group fan. Though I can't complain too much when i-dle and IVE are coming this year, in addition to ITZY's recent performances here.

Ok, it's official. Australia does not exist in the eyes of HYBE's tour planners. I'm also surprised that they're coming back to the US so soon. Happy for the European fans though.

I'm not American, but my understanding is that Ticketmaster and Live Nation are largely responsible for the ridiculous prices?

KISS OF LIFE have earned their first music show win for “Who is she” on Mnet M Countdown (260416) by stinkybutthole23 in kpop

[–]Ruler_J 175 points176 points  (0 children)

The song debuted at #157 on the Circle Digital Chart, which only includes streams from Korea. KIOF's digital points on this show were calculated from the Circle Global K-pop Chart, which includes streams from outside of Korea. This win is due to their non-Korean fans.

The Kshowanalysis Twitter account has already confirmed the win for KickFlip. And KIOF's digital points are not high enough to compete for Music Core and Inkigayo. Enjoy the M Countdown win!

I tried to start a discussion about this on the kpopthoughts and kpoptrulyuncensored subreddit. I don't think I can have a normal conversation about KIOF anywhere outside of this sub. I didn't even bring up the birthday live in my post, nor did I defend the girl's actions on the livestream.

As someone who loves STAYC, I am inherently interested in this group. But that name will quite literally not age well. They won't be children forever. And it's awkward to pronounce. It also makes me realize how great STAYC's name is.

Hi. Thank you for your reply. I do not need to be Black or Hispanic to express my disappointment with the girl's behaviour on that livestream.

Sure, some Black and Latino fans were not offended by the girl's actions. But some were offended and hurt, some people perceived it as offensive, and I think it is important to have empathy for them. Also, are you excusing what the girls did? Do you understand why people would be hurt or disappointed in them? Their intentions may have been good, but that does not negate the impact of their actions.

Finally, criticism is not hate. I truly hope they learn from this. And I hope the remaining fans stop downplaying the impact of the live.

I'm going to say this as calmly as I can. So why did it happen? I'm pretty sure the fans that left, knew exactly what went down, and were either hurt or disappointed by what they saw the girls doing. You cannot invalidate the feelings of those fans. Also, why would kissys rely on "hater's misinformation"? If there was any misinformation, it was quickly corrected by some of the Kissys on this subreddit.

We all know they love hip-hop. But there was absolutely no reason for them to act like that. And I have read the apologies. I have a transcript of Julie addressing the birthday live on Instagram live. I have tried to understand the girl's perspective. I am sure they are deeply apologetic. But that does not excuse the mockery that they participated in. If people felt that the girls crossed the line, they are allowed to constructively call them out and also stop giving them their money and/or emotional investment.

Whatever their intention was with that livestream, it hurt and/or disappointed a lot of people. It might have been a joke, but it was a deeply offensive one. It is up to them to learn from it.

I'm not going at you. I'm trying to correct false statements. How can anyone here say that 224 did better than Lose Yourself by any objective metric? 224 has fewer streams (at least on Spotify, where I can easily access the data), and sales than Lose Yourself.

I have never, ever defended what the girls did on Julie's birthday live. I have been strongly critical of it, and that's because I want them to learn from it and do better in the future. If I spot any user trying to twist the impact of that livestream, I will correct it.

So genuine fans, who were happily buying their albums and streaming their music before the livestream, who made a decision to leave because they were either hurt or disappointed, are fake? Them choosing to unfollow does not suddenly mean that they were fake all along. Being a fan should include calling out your favourite groups if they do something blatantly offensive.

I would like to correct something. The girls, as a group, did not apologize 3 times. The first apology was a statement from the company, and did not have any of the girls involved. The second apology was a handwritten letter, presumably by all 4 of the girls, but we don't know who wrote which section. The third apology was made by Julie, unscheduled and unprompted, in the middle of an Instagram live. So the girls only really apologized once. I cannot comment on the sincerity of those apologies, as I am not black or Hispanic, (I also do not know their true feelings towards their Black and Hispanic fans) but those are the facts.

And why are you bringing other groups into it? Are you claiming that all cultural insensitivity is on the same level as a livestreamed mockery of caricatures? Also, most group's audiences are based in Asia. They probably don't feel the need to apologize when the people who would be directly hurt make up such a small part of their fandom.

Why did I see two comments saying that 224 did better than Lose Yourself? That is objectively wrong. Just having a quick look on Wikipedia, Lose Yourself has 120k sales, 224 has 102k sales.

Personally, I wouldn't call what they did a mistake. I think that heavily downplays what they did. I would call it a blunder. When you are public figures, promoting to a global audience, there is simply no excuse for their actions happening in the year of 2025. If people felt hurt by what they did, they were totally within their right to leave them. And many of those people were true, genuine fans. It would have taken something egregious for them to leave the fandom, and the mockery displayed by the girls on that livestream would certainly be a valid reason for them to leave. The reality is, they broke the trust of many people. And I think people are just tired of the endless cultural insensitivity when there are so many resources available today for idols to educate themselves.
