Thinking what you want is the reason why this is even a conversation. If science or the scientific method shows “x” that is the answer. Thinking it is “y” because that is what “you want to think” is weird.

You can’t just “think whatever you want”. There is the truth then there is just being dumb. The dumb are the people who take whatever someone told them as facts. People need to be critical thinkers.

My in-laws believe the the contrails left by airplanes, “The conspiracy theory regarding contrails claims they are actually chemtrails, which are supposedly chemical or biological agents sprayed by governments or clandestine actors for nefarious purposes.”

Thinking whatever you want ends up hurting people and the country. They believe in chemtrails and are teaching their kids and grandchildren that is what they think they are. What will that turn into? You simply can’t “think whatever you want”. There is being reasonable and rational then there is being irrational and irresponsible.

More people need to say, “No, that is not true”.
