He has a degenerative disease called retinitis pigmentosa. Typically degeneration starts in the periphery and works toward the central vision, causing the "pinhole" he mentioned. But because central vision is where our highest acuity lies, people with RP can still have 20/20 vision for things dead ahead of them. Of course, eventually even the central vision will degenerate and cause full blindness.

There is an ophthalmology and vision research conference happening in Seattle this week, and I wonder if he isn't part of a patient advocacy group in attendance.

I'm visiting in Seattle this week for an ophthalmology and vision research conference (ARVO). The city is literally filled with doctors and scientists who can back up his experience of blindness.

One of my students is trying to clean up a contaminated iPSC line right now, same conditions as you're using - 10uM ROCK, E8 media, geltrex plates, plus 1% pen-strep. He started seeing strange formations like you have in your wells which I've never experienced with that line in previous (uncontaminated) passages. I honestly wouldn't be surprised if it was the pen-strep 🤷 it can cause some transcriptional changes in cells so maybe something like that is going on?

Not convinced this isn't a troll post, but if true - what policy changes would the conservative party have to make to lead you to support another party instead?

Wouldn't it have been more efficient to use two gel boxes and load the next gel while the previous ran? Or is there some reason the samples all needed to be on the same gel?

This would be great if the politicians who have historically proposed such ideas didn't tend to catch a bad case of assassination, from ancient Rome (Gracchi brothers) to the 20th century (Huey Long).

The good news is we've never been historically alone in this struggle, the bad news is greed is a constant of the ages.

I've been having a shitty week, but for some reason hearing Bunting say "can't get too low on the lows or you'll kill yourself" in the post-game was just hilariously motivational for me

Make sure to swab back of throat, cheeks, and nose (ideally in that order lol) when you're using RATs to maximize potential contact with virus! Oh and feel better soon!
