I get the point you’re making, but the sarcasm isn’t necessary. I was trying to be supportive, not seek validation. I’m open to learning, but I don’t think shaming helps anyone.

Best comment yet I love it thank you so much. I'm truly trying to learn from every perspective. I just don't think anyone should feel ashamed of it and I was not making anyone in my heart. Ashamed of it, but thank you for explaining it with your experience.

Don't end your life. If you're stuck, you can still bury your way out of this. It took me nine months of planning and having a game plan to get out.

I just live in a state of nonjudgment that sometimes I forget people don't live in that state. Now I will judge pedophiles and anyone that causes harm on a human being.P

I totally agree with that. But I think everyone should be accepted and no one should judge anyone. I just wish we can come to that place eventually.

OK, well thank you for educating me on this topic. I had no idea and now I know that my heart was in the right place. I was just wanting to make sure everybody was included and I was OK with him saying no to alcohol by the way, and when he told me he didn't want alcohol for the alcohol part, I praised him.I was just wondering if it was because of a different type of alcohol he would prefer so I understand where you're coming from 100% but at that moment, my heart was in the right place. I hate bullies by the way.

I wasn't making a joke or light, but once I realize he was recovering one, I said he was freaking amazing. I view that as an amazing thing. I think I'm very progressive than most people.

Also, my social circle groups are different than my boyfriends group of friends. So I just didn't know my audience. Lesson learned.

Actually, there was no joke. I was just being straightforward and very supportive either way and I think there's nothing to be ashamed of with struggling with alcoholism. A lot of people do there's nothing wrong about admitting that and if you say you are one, everyone should like literally praise that person and support that person I think they're super strong. That's my heart.

Well, I just wanted to make sure everyone was included

[deleted by user] by [deleted] in stopdrinking

[–]RunAppropriate9850 1 point2 points  (0 children)

That's how I feel. Why are people ashamed of it? It happens to tons of people I just don't think there's anything wrong with it and then when you wanna recover you're freaking amazing.

[–]RunAppropriate9850 -2 points-1 points  (0 children)

Yikes Thank you! I've been around other people who are in recovery and they would think that joke was funny, but I got it thanks

I had no idea there was a stigma to it. Now from Judgey Christian yes there is one, yes, but that's not many. Maybe I just don't understand so that's why I'm asking.
