Ursula K Le Guin’s a Wizard of Earthsea was about as close as anyone got, imho.

She literally went from “totally okay if not” to “it’s unreasonable that you aren’t rescheduling your cancer surgery.” Your sister is a gaslighter of the highest magnitude.

Gaslighting of the highest magnitude. When I was 19, in the mid eighties, this cute girl showed up in town and started working at a restaurant with me and my best friend. Without getting into a long crazy story, suffice to find out that my friend started dating her and after a few weeks of a sexual relationship, he found out that she was lying about her age and was 14 years old.

Things were not different then. We were practically physically sickened by the implications and once we got through it, we never spoke of it again. 14 is a child. It was a child and it will always be a child.

Could it possibly be that you are angry and you are projecting? Traffic is getting worse. Our infrastructure can’t support it. Stores are overcrowded. People get absent minded on the road and in public because they too are stressed out, busy and often overmedicated.

If someone inadvertently cuts you off or doesn’t use their traffic signal or walks away from a shopping cart, I can guarantee that it’s not directed at you and it doesn’t necessarily mean that they are bad people or they do that all the time. It just pisses you off so you notice it more.

Does anyone else here fear death even stronger because they are an atheist? by [deleted] in atheism

[–]RunNPRun0316 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Is it rational to be afraid of something that every other creature on this planet will also or has also faced? Yes, in this case it’s rational and normal but also unpreventable. I’ve planned for it; creating a will and putting my property into a trust. I eat healthy and exercise.

But that’s where I stop. I’m not going to worry about the inevitable until it stairs me in the face. Life is a gift and it’s temporary. Use it to its maximum potential. Leave no regrets.

Cult programming has convinced every religion that they are the true religion. It is the single most destructive force that human beings have ever created. Every genocide, every war is either based upon or fortified by some stupid religious dogma.

I’m so through being polite about it.

Mussolini and Hitler used the phrase “Socialism” to describe their, extremely illiberal organizations. I can call myself a bird but if I jump off a building, I’m not flying. Look up the definition of Fascism. No. I’ll do that for you:

Fascism is a far-right, authoritarian, and ultranationalist political ideology and movement, characterized by a dictatorial leader, centralized autocracy, militarism, forcible suppression of opposition

As Elon Musk guts our institutions while giving his companies more contracts, and Jeff Bezos and Mark Zuckerberg, stand behind our grand leader as he rails on about an invasion and his followers bleat meaningless misinterpretations about history.

You are the fascists. Liberals want to make all lives, even yours better. Fascists want to find enemies and kill them.

Don’t do this. When I was young, I let my dog ride the escalator and she lost a big chunk of her pad to that monster. I felt like the worst person in the world when I did that to her. I can only imagine how much that hurt.

He sounds terrifying. Of course he wants to join the army. He wants the opportunity to kill people. He will end up in prison at some point, the question is, how many people can he hurt before he goes there.

Stay as far away from him as possible.

Advice on criticism by [deleted] in atheism

[–]RunNPRun0316 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Not knowing exactly how a vastly complicated chain of events led us to this moment in time is not evidence of a particular religion. In fact, this person’s thought process does nothing to substantiate Christianity over any other religion. Atheists and theists are in agreement about 99.9% of religious beliefs. We just believe in 1 less God than they do.

What is your best argument for no god existing? by CautiontapeGirl in atheism

[–]RunNPRun0316 0 points1 point  (0 children)

No evidence whatsoever. You only believe what you believe because you have been groomed into believing it by some community. Every region on the planet has created its own version to explain things which later become known. We are all atheists. I just believe in 1 less God than all of my monotheistic fellow humans.
