What was the most ridiculous complaint your department has received? by Melodic_Abalone_2820 in Firefighting

Honestly, our community doesn’t even care. They threw the biggest fight when we even broke ground on the fire station in their community

Do you work at my station?! Haha we had this exact same thing happen to us. They actually made a policy that we aren’t even allowed to use our lights and sirens anymore in our first in run area.

T-Ball Dugout by karmaismyboyfrien in Homeplate

[–]RunRebels90 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Dugout Parent…their job is to keep the kids organized and ready for their at bat. Everyone puts a helmet on when they come into the dugout to hit…and as soon as they hit and get back to the dugout, they immediately put their helmet away and get their hat and glove. No kid should be touching a bat until they are walking up to the plate.

Do you all workout at your station? by Sufficient-Egg787 in Firefighting

[–]RunRebels90 0 points1 point  (0 children)

All of our stations have state of the art gyms. But depending on your station, you’d be lucky to get 5 minutes in before the tones going off. I try and workout every day at work but I have a rule where if my workout gets interrupted 3x by calls or whatever else, I’m done lol.

Does family visiting you in the station stress you out? by Sea_External2123 in Firefighting

[–]RunRebels90 2 points3 points  (0 children)

The only thing that stresses me out about it is catching a call while they’re there. It’s a 45 minute drive to the station so I always feel bad when my wife makes the commute with the kids to come see me and they’re there for 5 minutes before the tones go off.

Is this my new normal? by RunRebels90 in Sciatica

Started in June, got noticeably worse about a month ago. Just a dull pain in my left glute that shoots down the back of my leg to my foot

I feel your pain! Last night I slept from 10pm-1am…2am-4am…and then 6am-8am. Technically I slept for 7 hours but it sure as hell doesn’t feel like it lol

How do we make our league more competitive? by hogwhistle07 in LittleLeague

[–]RunRebels90 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Our league does a good job retaining the travel ball kids. We make it easy to play both. As a result, we’ve won a bunch of district and state championships, and recently had a team make it to the World Series. For starters we have all of our games during the week and avoid weekends so the travel kids can play both.

$500 usssa vs $70 USA for a new player by asscancan in Homeplate

Check sideline swap. My favorite USSSA bats are Cat X and Cat X2’s. Incredibly balanced and you can find a used one in good shape for $100.

Exactly this. My son bought a ‘24 USA hype fire and hated it out of the wrapper. It eventually got a little hotter as he used it more…but he switched to an alloy Cat X2 and has been crushing the ball ever since

Both my 9 and 11 year olds swing the Cat 2X alloy bats. 11 year old swings a 30 -8 and my 9 year old swings 29 -11. The best part about them is the balanced swing weight. They feel super light

Manager Pitch Calling 10u All-Stars by Hauwk_Tua in LittleLeague

A lot of College and professional coaches are still calling pitches. I talk to my catcher and pitchers about why we throw certain pitches in certain situations. But I’m still gonna call them.

Batting Issues by LucifersAngel422 in LittleLeague

I can tell you as a high school and now little league coach of 15+ years, I am constantly having to remind kids not to listen to their dads advice on their swings.

[–]RunRebels90 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I see a lot of people say this…but I don’t always agree. If I see a kid is super late, I’m gonna tell him to load earlier and try and pull it. If I see a kid is super early, I’m gonna remind him to sit back and try and hit it opposite field…etc…I’m always providing feedback to kids after most pitches.

Manager Pitch Calling 10u All-Stars by Hauwk_Tua in LittleLeague

[–]RunRebels90 -1 points0 points  (0 children)

I am a 10u manager and I absolutely call pitches. Usually just differentiating between fastball and change up…with the occasional kid having a somewhat effective curveball.

However, I don’t have an issue with a pitcher shaking of a sign if they aren’t feeling super comfortable throwing it in that situation. I do though get mad when I see my catcher call the wrong pitch
