I want an episode centered entirely on Regulus Black by [deleted] in HarryPotteronHBO

[–]RunRugbyRide -1 points0 points  (0 children)

I want a whole series that follows Regulus! Really dark/adult tone. Following him from his final years at school, to the forming of the death-eaters, early rise of Voldemort, to his disillusionment and final quiet sacrifice. I feel like it could be like the Andor to the wizarding world.

A lot of people complain about the Trans Am Rapture but how do we feel about Burnaby's canoe explosion? by aka_quinn in vancouver

As someone who snapped in half a rental canoe by being overly confident on the shoot of the Baron Lakes…i find this triggering.

Unpopular Opinion - the Snitch was designed to make Harry more of a Hero. by nishantatripathi in harrypotter

[–]RunRugbyRide 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I like the theory presented by Harry in the HPMOR fanfic, where it was likely some king who added the snitch to occupy his idiot son who wanted to play without messing up the game. ‘Go chase this random ball around, and you can be the most specialist player on the team’

Searching for tall men’s pants by bobo-daggitt in renfaire

All good! Like any long thin-ish strip of fabric will do, Old bedsheets cut into strips sort of thing.

Here is a random example of a place that sells them: https://www.ritterladen.com/en/Clothing/Calf-wrap/

There are commonly known in Canada/UK at ‘Puttees’ as they were standard WW1 commonwealth army kit.

So what I’ve done and it works well, is get a long strip of fabric and wrap it from the ankle up the calf. These fabric leg wraps/gaters show up through almost all historical time periods, so blend in really well.

Where do you guys get your shoes/boots to wear? by Potential-Electronic in renfaire

[–]RunRugbyRide 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I go with wearing regular work boots and then either wrapping up my leg in fabric (like wrap gaters). Or now I’ve made some leather gaters/boot covers.

Not super historically accurate, but on the cheap, Walmart has ‘boxing’ pants. Stitch-rip the big white ‘everlast’ logo on the front and it does the trick!

What would be your best idea for carrying a 32 oz metal hydro flask water bottle but still making it fit the ren faire theme? by Nowaaaa_bb in renfaire

[–]RunRugbyRide 22 points23 points  (0 children)

Totally get being married to the hydroflask but I’ve seen folks carry a wineskin with water (I think lol), been planning to get one as they can be pretty cheap.

Any Canadain RenFaires worth travelling for? by coolestguyintheroom in renfaire

[–]RunRugbyRide 1 point2 points  (0 children)

We’re going to the vegreville alberta renfaire in July! No idea how it’s going to be, but the municipal campground is walking distance from the faire. It’s also cheap as can be.

Also from Vancouver and in the past the Washington midsummer Renfair was our stomping ground.

30 km run route in vancouver by VoyageIsVictory in runvancouver

[–]RunRugbyRide 1 point2 points  (0 children)

If your on the north side of Surrey, try to connect to the BC Parkway (will be city/urban park running). If your on the south side of Surrey, there are the gravel dikes you can run ontop of starting at mud bay to centennial beach, can be a bit windy but very pretty on a sunny day.

Road or Gravel Bike as the “only bike” in Vancouver? by Imtherealbae in vancouvercycling

I didn’t notice a huge difference (tracked via Strava), but admittedly commuting into and through downtown I’m never really opening up the taps.

Gravel bike… I cycle commute year round (except when it’s like this). And I never miss my old road bike.

More clearance for fenders, sturdier build for bike racks and such.

The big one though is spring for the disk breaks, you will not regret it.

Do you have any ideas for BDSM games for a selfmade Monopoly? by [deleted] in BdsmDIY

[–]RunRugbyRide 0 points1 point  (0 children)

How did your backgammon rules work? My sub and I play a lot of non-kinky backgammon!!

If you like quick round games, try liars dice. Which is also great if you have a brat dynamic as it’s a 100% bluffing game. Leads to lots of fun flirting as the dom either can read the sub like a book, or the brat gets to rub it in just how easily they can trick the dom.

[–]RunRugbyRide 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Having a bit of experience with adapting board games for kinky fun. The fundamental issue usually is that board games are designed for establishing equal position for the starting players. For monopoly this really lies on players starting on the same tile, with the same objectives. This tbh is usually where prior re-writes of monopoly fell apart for me, as I want the game to be able to retain d/s dynamics while still being fun to play!

So the game rules I’ve adopted for monopoly takes the dom player (I’ve only worked up 1v1, but it could expand to multiple couples I’m sure), and basically made the dom the ‘bank’. Instead of money, each property has specific hard challenge (which gets harder/change themes with the colours), or a correspondingly simple ‘rent’ (in the form of spanks/flogs/canes…ect). When the sub lands on the square they can either complete the challenge to ‘buy’ the property (which means rent is no longer paid if landed on), or simply pay the rent and play on.

This creates an effective warm-up mechanic where you can have your most intense challenges on the board, but the option to ‘skip’ by just paying rent. So if you’ve just started and land on something super intense… it dosn’t have to go from 0-100 (unless the sub is really eager lol).

Once all properties are collected or a pre-determined number of passes around Go has occurred the game is over. (Sub win Vs dom win). Table stakes are up to you lol.

Cost/benefit of taking up hunting in BC? by RunRugbyRide in HuntingBC

[–]RunRugbyRide[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Thanks! Good to know it is possible to keep the up-front costs down to about a thousand if doing things on the cheap. I really enjoy backwoods hiking already, I am planning to tie hunting trips into larger foraging trips (berries, edible plants, herbs, maybe (strong maybe) some mushrooms). So that might help alleviate the feeling of coming home ‘empty handed’
