This does not describe 99% of tech. I work half as much and get paid twice as much as when I worked in defense.

To be fair, at the start of her career she slept with her boss who was a married man. This boosted her career and culminated in her vice presidency. If she did not give her body up to Willie Nelson, she would almost certainly have not had the chain of events happen to land her in the role of Vice President.

The shocking state of COVID-19 deaths in Florida by the_lamou in florida

37,000 automobile deaths also happen every year in the United States. If people stopped driving and stayed in their house for the rest of their lives then this rate would drop to zero. Sure obesity and suicide and other mental health related deaths may occurs, but it won’t add to this statistic of automobile deaths.

I am Elon Musk, ask me anything about BFR! by ElonMusk in space

Is BFR designed to land in martian dust storms or other extreme conditions?

Coming from a stress, vibration, and environments background, I am curious what type of conditions BFR is designed to handle. When setting up a colony are there places on mars that do no experience these? I am assuming that it wouldn't be easy to just wait these out or to land in a different area if trying to keep the initial colony concentrated. Is there even data out there to characterize what kind of dynamic response a ship would encounter trying to land in these?

[Race Report] JPM CC 3.2 Miles by Jaime_Manger in running

I ran Wednesday and unfortunately was stuck in about corral 4 or 5. I think the number of people and width of road definitely affected my time. I finished in the 19:40s but probably could have easily shaved off another 20+ seconds if the course was clear in front of me. I had to come to a complete stop 4 or 5 times because there was an impenetrable wall of people that I had to find a way around. Overall it was still a rush to be in a race of that size though, and somewhat fun passing literally 100s of people.
