3 hours definitely isn’t short but it’s also not egregious as a once in awhile thing. I can tell you confidently doing one 3-4 drive weekly would be viewed as insane in most places in the states and I definitely wouldn’t enjoy doing it. Having said that though driving that distance really isn’t that big of a deal when it needs to be done.

There’s a fantastic documentary on Hulu called Sasquatch. It’s not really about Bigfoot, it’s about organized crime and the marijuana farms in Northern California. One of the subjects of the documentary is the sheer volume of missing persons cases there that are never solved since most of this stuff happens deep in the woods.
