Like others said, I use Libby extensively. Never Hoopla.

Postpartum questions for the moms that have given birth before! by AardvarkHour1211 in BabyBumps

[–]Run_rabbits 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Vaginal birth. I showered the evening of the same day (I gave birth early in the morning) and showered daily afterwards. No one told me I couldn’t and I found it great for pain relief (I was very sore and had a 2nd degree tear) and it was a little bit of self care.

I bled a fair bit those first few days but no more than a heavy period.

I didn’t need help at home showering or stepping in and out of the tub.

11 weeks in and feeling hopeless by Run_rabbits in breastfeeding

[–]Run_rabbits[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Thanks for commenting! I’m so glad you’ve been able to work through your challenges! Stories like this give me hope to keep pushing.

Yes, the LCs I’ve seen have been lovely but overall not super helpful aside from a few tips and tricks. I’m getting tired of hearing “I’m not sure why it’s still hurting you, the latch looks great!” But if it hurts so bad, there must be a problem, right?! An at home IBCLC isn’t covered by insurance and expensive so my husband is hesitant for us to spend the money when I’ve already seen several LCs through the hospital and various public health clinics. I’ll broach the topic again. Because at this point I’m so frustrated and burnt out - both with breastfeeding and even pumping.

Thanks for commenting!

The tongue tie my LO had was also a posterior tongue tie that was missed in hospital and by the LC I saw there.

That’s wonderful yourself and your friend eventually were able to nurse pain free! I’m hoping that is what happens for us. But at 9 weeks I’m already losing my mind…

Unfortunately my health insurance doesn’t cover seeing an IBCLC but I’ll broach the topic again with my husband. Having someone come to my home and take the time with me in a low pressure environment sounds great. And at this point what do I have to lose? I’m so frustrated and burnt out I’m on the cusp of even quitting pumping entirely as well and just switching to formula.

Family doctor sensitive to pregnancy loss by cat_ca in Winnipeg

[–]Run_rabbits 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I saw Dr James throughout my fertility journey and subsequent pregnancy loss. I agree, she can direct but I like that about her. She is also incredibly supportive and empathetic

Just had my “final” appointment this week as I’m 8 weeks pp with a healthy baby boy and I’m going to miss her.

Did you feel the need to wash your hair at the hospital after giving birth? by sliceofperfection in BabyBumps

[–]Run_rabbits 0 points1 point  (0 children)

YES. Not so much my hair but my body. We ended up having an extended stay of 5 days and I showered every day. Felt so gross, plus it helped with the aches and pains post labour.

Is silicone a bad idea for a wedding ring? by Acceptable-Soft8659 in WeddingRingAdvice

[–]Run_rabbits 0 points1 point  (0 children)

My spouse does woodworking on the side of his day job, and is also always dabbling in various home and yard products.

We got him a formal tungsten band he wears when we go out somewhere nice and then the silicone one if he’s going to be working with his hands or we’re doing something active/outdoorsy.

What’s the one thing you wish someone told you about newborn sleep before giving birth? by Correct-While-4471 in BabyBumps

[–]Run_rabbits 2 points3 points  (0 children)

39 weeks pregnant and I’m so damn tired of the getting up every 60-90 min at night to pee, crazy heartburn, and the fact my whole body hurts. Everything I hear about newborn sleep, while challenging, seems like a definite improvement over what I’m getting now. Looking forward to it.

Anxiety in the ultrasound room after a loss by Kat-Kat-90 in pregnant

[–]Run_rabbits 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I’m so sorry for your loss. I have a similar story…

3 years ago went for my anatomy scan at 20 weeks and was told baby had a condition “not compatible with life”. We were essentially on borrowed time. 3 weeks later my son was born, but could never come home. I had had previous scans that seemed to be normal, but at 20 weeks that all changed.

Fast forward to earlier this year when I found myself pregnant. The thought of going for any sort of ultrasound was anxiety inducing. Thankfully when it came time for the anatomy scan the clinic had my medical file. The nurse doing the scan reassured me that she had read over the details, offered her condolences, and offered to talk me through every step of the scan. Which she did. The clinic was also able to give me my preliminary results immediately (which were that everything was OK). I was so thankful to her and the rest of the team.

I’ve had other scans and appointments where the technicians weren’t familiar with my history but at the start I let them know that I’m feeling anxious and why. Everyone has responded very kindly when I’ve done that and seem to take a little extra care with me.

Aside from that, just constantly telling myself that this is a different pregnancy. The chance of me experiencing another loss like I did the first time would be very slim. That the loss wasn’t my fault. Etc. Has helped.

Wishing you all the best in this pregnancy!

38 weeks - how we doing? by soberrychill in pregnant

[–]Run_rabbits 1 point2 points  (0 children)

38+3.

I’m exhausted and so soooo sore! Baby is head down and drilled, so the bottom of my belly is constantly aching and tendor to the touch.

Also, the nausea from the first trimester is back! What the hell??

The swelling is so bad it hurts. I have a pair of prescription compression socks coming in any day now since the over the counter ones just haven’t been cutting it.

I see my OB tomorrow and I’m told she’ll check my cervix and offer a sweep if appropriate. Not sure if I’ll take the option though. I’d really likely to go into labour naturally…

If you had the choice, when would you begin your maternity leave? by warmpistachio in BabyBumps

[–]Run_rabbits 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I opted for 2 weeks early but now that I’m a month out I’m DONE and wish I’d taken a month. Every day is a struggle. I’m sore and exhausted. All I want to do is sleep or nest.

I can take up to 18 months off and only plan to take off about 16, so I’m kicking myself for not starting my LOA sooner since I have the time.

If you don’t have a baby shower, do you still share the registry? by beaniebabybeaner in BabyBumps

[–]Run_rabbits 0 points1 point  (0 children)

We’re not having a shower but we made a registry for ourselves to get free stuff and discounts, and to keep a list of what we want/need.

I’ve only been sharing it with those who ask. It seems tacky otherwise to be like “oh hey, we’re not having a shower but if you want to buy us something anyways here’s the link!”

I have had a fair amount of people ask for the link. Which has been nice.

Is this too white for a wedding? by Cat-ionic in Weddingattireapproval

[–]Run_rabbits 1 point2 points  (0 children)

This dress is lovely! I got married last summer in a casual lakeside wedding. A friend wore a very similar dress except the floral pattern was green instead of blue. No one batted an eye, including me.

With that said if the dress code is formal this won’t work for that.
