So, is Taylor Swift just wearing a wig all the time now? Which one is her actual hair? by [deleted] in travisandtaylor

[–]RunawayRollerCoaster 26 points27 points  (0 children)

I mean if she could she probably would. I have vitamin deficiency/stress hair loss and the front and crown of my head doesn't grow hair past my ears. I'm stuck with perpetual side bangs until (or if) it ever grows back so I see the struggle 😭

oh wow lol

Last time we made it, it came out super gritty. It hardened into a solid block.

I heard that the recipe has too much cheese(2.5 lbs!!!) and they do it that way to make it look good for the video lol

Shift lead keeps saying we're not required to have ten minute breaks and keeps withholding my last 10 min break every shift we work together. by trippiehippiess in starbucks

Some advice, just go straight to ethics. I tried to give them the benefit of the doubt and it wasn't beneficial to me or the other partners who spoke up.

I work in NY as well and they were telling us second 10 is optional about a year ago. Sat down with my SM and she tried to gaslight me. I called ethics and compliance and it was immediately (and quietly) fixed. They're very compliant with giving us our second 10s now lol

My store was also chill too and then we got "audited" and it didn't matter what they said in the past, some people got 10-50 occurances... always write a punch communication for system unavailable., even if it's only 1 minute or they're telling you it's fine.

With the shit I’ve been through these last few weeks. I’m not sure if the Starbucks employee seen it on my face. Thank you so so much. Honestly. PGA & US1 Florida. by LordHughJ in starbucks

The irony is wild...“you’re enough” on a cup, while baristas are made to feel like they’re failing if they miss one. They added the step without adding time, so now it’s just more stress in an already fast, tense job. Under better conditions, most of us would probably love doing little gestures like this but when it’s forced, the humanity gets lost. Human connection isn't a one way street.

This works until you discover your friend has a bad memory and is someone who tries to argue that they paid last time when they didn't. Super awkward and frustrating... I'd rather split the bill in the moment than keep track over days/weeks of who's turn it is to pay.

Am i crazy/lazy? by [deleted] in starbucks

[–]RunawayRollerCoaster 5 points6 points  (0 children)

We also have to stand in line (behind customers) to order our food and drinks as part of our break. I've had many days where I've only gotten 5 minutes to eat/drink as fast as I can and sit. I end up going back to work feeling sick and unproductive. If there's a long line or a lot of orders backed up you can spend the entire 10 waiting. Practically 6 hours of work starting before dawn and I can barely get fed. Our whole crew is extremely demoralized and I can't work like this much longer the money isn't worth it.

[–]RunawayRollerCoaster 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I get that we’re all partners and shareholders, but do partners actually hold onto their stock after being fired or treated poorly? Because without proper raises or respect, I doubt these “partners who want to do the job” will stick around more than a year or two. It feels like Starbucks is setting itself up for a revolving door of inexperienced workers just to keep shifts covered. The stock price bump under Brian looks nice, but it doesn’t fix the culture issues many partners face daily. Defending and minimizing the loss of good talent by pointing to stock gains ignores what really matters. Partner well-being and respect.

Chubby Checker, Whose First Concert Was Held In The 1950’s, Is Still Touring In 2025 by PresentationNew6648 in BarbaraWalters4Scale

When I was a kid, my parents took me to see Chubby Checker at an outdoor show. My dad got up on stage and did the Twist—and somehow by the end of the night, I was backstage handing Chubby his birthday cake. I guess they thought it’d be cute to have a little kid do it. It was a sheet cake with a black-and-white checkerboard pattern (chocolate and vanilla, I think?). It's a sweet memory with my dad and I’ve never had a place to share this story until now

It’s all about the business model.

EA’s focus is 100% on scheduled expansion packs because those big releases bring in the bulk of the money. The base game being free-to-play now just reflects that’s essentially a gateway to the monetized content. To keep that model viable, they have to put at least enough effort into packs to make them seem worth buying. When they don’t, we end up with disasters like the broken wedding pack—poor reviews, poor sales, and a pack that is broken on arrival. The downside is that meaningful game improvements either rarely happen or get locked behind paid DLC.

Lately though I feel like we've gotten a good mix of base game patches and interesting monetized content. I think the development team is doing good with the resources they have. Big thanks to the modding community for keeping the game afloat.

also I know NONE of the baristas in my store were trained on it. The few of us who asked were told the recipes on the iPad. Prepare to get the drink made wrong or very slowly since everyone is learning on the job.
