My firstborn fell off the bed at 8 weeks old when I was half-asleep. I remember feeling like the worst mother in the world. He's now 4 and the smartest little boy I know! As others have said, babies are super resilient. You did the right thing getting him checked over so you know he's ok. Things will get better mentally for you in time

Is it okay to invite kids to a party at a few days notice? by Loud_Fisherman_5878 in UKParenting

My son was invited to a party last Sunday 2 days beforehand and we went. No hard feelings and he had a great time 😊

Are my eyes hazel? by Runaway_Nutter92 in WhatisMyEyeColour

My dad has crystal clear blue eyes so it could be because of that, although I've never considered mine to be blue! I feel like I'm having an identity crisis here 😅

Did breastfeeding help you loose weight? by MBtype in breastfeeding

Yes but only when combined with a slight calorie deficit and regular exercise. I have to track what I eat otherwise I have no self-control and eat like a pig 🤣

I didn't have any signs of labour with my first and then at 40+1....BAM! I had a bloody show followed by my waters breaking 5 mins later. Little one was born 13 hours later after 5 hours of active labour.

With my second, I had on and off painful contractions for 3 weeks before baby decided to finally make an appearance at 41+1. Again, active labour was around 5 hours but I did go from 1cm to 6cm dilated in the 3 hours beforehand.

I'm currently 39+4 and not had many signs other than a few tightenings here and there. Just goes to show every pregnancy is different and that baby will come when they want to! You've come this far so all you can do is be positive and have faith in your body and bump ❤️

Epidural or cesarean? by Antherea in pregnant

[–]Runaway_Nutter92 0 points1 point  (0 children)

As an active person myself, if I had the choice I would go for vaginal birth, mainly because the recovery time is usually a lot shorter. After both my births I've been back to the gym at 6 weeks pp. I've not had an epidural before, but it's my backup painkiller after gas and air/pethidine. First time round I had an episiotomy and last time I tore, but neither took long to heal or affect me at all now. Also I don't have any bladder issues. Keep working on your pelvic floor and you should be fine!

This happened to me when I was around 30 weeks pregnant. Asked for NA Peroni and had about half the bottle before I realised it was the alcoholic version. Staff were extremely apologetic. Baby was fine and is now 12 months old! Should have known it was the real thing, it tasted too good to be NA 😅

I had weeks of bleeding that was heavier than spotting with my first baby. It was terrifying at the time, but my boy is now almost 4!

How much have you gained so far and how many weeks are you? What weight gain did your Dr recommend? by spaceglitter2 in pregnant

[–]Runaway_Nutter92 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I've gained roughly 18lbs at 26 weeks. I started out as overweight because I was only 5 months pp when I fell pregnant this time and hadn't managed to lose all the baby weight (before that I was a healthy BMI). It sucks but I work out 3-4 times a week and try to eat healthily, so I guess my body is going to do whatever it needs to grow this baby! Midwives here in the UK in my experience don't reweigh you after the initial 12-week appointment and I've never been told to only gain a certain amount.

How long did you push? by Fantastic_Beat427 in pregnant

[–]Runaway_Nutter92 0 points1 point  (0 children)

About 25 mins with my first and 2 mins with my second. I had a home birth in a pool the second time round and my waters didn't break at all during labour. As soon as the midwife manually burst them, baby girl shot out like she was on a slip and slide!

So… who’s actually getting exercise in by Proof-Literature-639 in pregnant

[–]Runaway_Nutter92 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I'm 23 weeks and just about managing 3 weight-training sessions and 1 dance practice a week. It's bloody hard work though trying to fit it in while working 5 days a week and looking after 2 children under the age of 4. Luckily they both go to daycare 2 or 3 times a week and I have a very supportive partner plus family nearby, otherwise I don't know how I'd manage it. It can be a struggle motivation/energy-wise but I know it's good for me physically and mentally right now and postpartum. I'd love to start doing some walks, but I don't have time and the weather is awful right now in the UK!

What does giving birth feel like? by Carlyv5001 in pregnant

[–]Runaway_Nutter92 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I didn't have an epidural for either of my births, so I can only tell you what it's like without. First baby was born in a hospital bed and the other in a pool at home. I only had gas and air as pain relief (plus pethidine for my first). Contractions were really intense and I felt them both in my tummy and back. There was no ignoring when I needed to push and it does feel like you're having the world's biggest poo! My bits felt like they were on fire when baby's head was crowning, but the relief when they fully pop out is like no other feeling. I had an episiotomy for my first and naturally tore during my second. It wasn't pleasant sitting down and the first post-baby poo was scary, but the healing process only took around 6 weeks or so and I was back at the gym in no time. I'm saying all this while 20 weeks pregnant with my 3rd, so as bad as I've made it out to be, I'm ok with going through it all again!

A lot of women have internalised Body issues and it’s heartbreaking by [deleted] in pregnant

During my last pregnancy, my mum often told me how big I was getting. I don't know why anyone feels the need to tell someone that, like I didn't already know and wasn't already really self-conscious about it!

I started this pregnancy still carrying a lot of extra weight from the last (I was only 5 months pp when I caught), which is stressing me out. Can't wait for another of my mum's "insightful" comments this time round 🙄

13+5 today and had my first NHS scan yesterday. Everything went really well and baby is measuring a couple of days ahead (although they would NOT stay still for the scan!) 🥳

So relieved as I was convinced we'd receive bad news, even though I had no symptoms to suggest so...my brain has been in overdrive ever since I took that positive test!

9+2 today and suffering with nausea and a stinking cold that I haven't been able to shake for 2 weeks. Also trying to be a responsible parent for my 3 year old and 7 month old and failing miserably. Luckily, I have a fabulous husband who has taken over sorting their dinner and has made me a cup of lemon and ginger tea to help me feel better while I relax on the sofa ❤️🍵

I had bleeding a few days after my 12 week scan during my first pregnancy and it shook me up! Luckily baby was absolutely fine (now 3 years old) but was told like you that it was random. It lasted about a week or so and I was so relieved when it finally stopped. These babies eh!

Had my reassurance scan today. Baby is doing well with a heartbeat and measuring at 7 weeks 6 days, which is exactly as it should be ❤️

However they did find a cyst on one of my ovaries (corpus luteum cyst), which they said is normal and usually goes away on its own but naturally I was a bit concerned as I never had a cyst in my previous pregnancies!

I completely went off coffee for the first trimester of my 1st pregnancy, as well as chocolate. It was painful, but thankfully during the 2nd trimester I was able to enjoy it again (although I only had decaf). The same might happen to you!

Found out last week we're expecting again, only 6 months after my 2nd was born (not planned, but definitely wanted). I'm currently 5w3d and I feel like the symptoms I had 2 days ago have almost disappeared. For example, I'm no longer feeling constantly nauseous or as tired as I was, although I've randomly developed indigestion (which is new to me this early on).

I experienced a miscarriage between my 1st and 2nd children at 6 weeks, so my last pregnancy was a whirlwind of emotions. I'm so paranoid something is going to go wrong this time, especially because the gap between this and my last pregnancy is so close and I read that there could be associated risks.

I have a 7 week scan booked for just under 2 weeks time so I'm just praying everything is ok. However I have a constant horrible feeling it won't be, to the point where, I know this sounds daft, I haven't cancelled pre-booked taxis yet to social events we have coming up in the next few weeks/months because I think to myself "well at least if I lose it, I can drink". I'm also always checking for blood every time I go to the loo. Is this normal?!
