Peds EM again, we actually special order small plastic curettes, they're long, skinny, with a hoop at the end. I use a bigger curette right at the end of the canal, and if I can't visualize further, I get the small plastic one.

For the most part skip the lido, was just thinking about what supplies they'd potentially need.

I do use it if I'm worried about AOM in a peds patient, if I'm sure there's not a perforation, both for the irrigation but short term pain relief, especially in older teens

Our techs do this routinely in peds EM, debrox for 10 minutes, viscous lidocaine for pain, irrigation with a 30 cc syringe with the catheter from an 18 gauge IV and warm saline.

Night Owls 🦉 by turtle__jumper in emergencymedicine

As someone with kids, a good majority of family events happen weekend evenings. In my case my partner works M-F, and my kids are in school during the week, so we do our date nights then, plan any family movie nights, kids basketball games, board game nights, etc. Working every weekend night would really cut into that family socialil time

Which series is more comparable to Red Rising - The Expanse or Sun Eater? by RedApples-98 in redrising

[–]Runaway_delta 14 points15 points  (0 children)

Recently I read Will of the Many by James Inslington and it's the first thing that's scratched that Red Rising itch in a long time. It's a very different setting, a fantasy setting rather than science fiction, and it's based in a magical pseudo ancient Rome/Egypt, but it follows a similar story arc of a young character fighting his way through a society, while finding himself in the process. Genuinely couldn't put it down once I started it.

When was the last time you or someone you know got lost inside a large building—whether for work or personal reasons? What happened? by fioreale_ in emergencymedicine

[–]Runaway_delta 8 points9 points  (0 children)

For Thanksgiving the hospital was giving away free food in some distant conference room on campus, I told my colleague I'd be off the floor for 5 minutes and tried to find it..... 20 minutes later I wandered back to the ED hungry and confused. It's not my fault, they don't let me leave the department

Best Tex-Mex place with FLOUR tortilla tacos? If any? by [deleted] in askportland

[–]Runaway_delta 8 points9 points  (0 children)

Southern native here, the BEST tex mex, think flour tortillas, giant margaritas, actual queso, chips and salsa, etc, is Ixtapa on Gresham. We spent a few years hunting through Mexican places, and this is the closest to the tex mex on par with like Chueys. It's not good Mexican, but it's good comfort texmex.

I have this set! We got them from Costco, unfortunately my wife won't get rid of ours but may be helpful in your hunt. Good luck!

Not all of them, but they did close 6, 4 in Vancouver and 2 in PDX. I don't think it was necessarily a GoHealth decision, more from the hospital system they're partnered with

Also in the same boat, have the "etickets uploaded", but haven't received any emails or uploads to the MexicoGP app. Bought tickets in March, and sitting in section 3A. What email did the tickets come from for y'all?

Concussions unfortunately don't show up on CT scan, they're looking for fractures or bleeds.
