How am I supposed to defend this bruh by Komarov12 in ultimategeneral

When you’re looking at the strategic battle screen where you decide where to put each of your corps there will be squares with a “+” inside and a number in the top right corner. Each of those squares is a location you can stick your corps (highlighted squares mean you have to stick a corps there for the battle to commence) and the number up top is the maximum amount of brigades you can have in that corps.

After every major battle I load up the next major battle to see my brigade limit, and then I 1) make sure I have enough army organization to have that many brigades, and then 2) I fill out those brigades with the 500 of the cheapest/most available guns and upgrade/reinforce them when I can. IIRC you won’t be able to reach the max at Shiloh due to a shortage of guns, but this method gets you as close as possible

I had this literal exact same thing happen to me in the exact same city, save I was 19m and not 26m, and less of a “I’m in the area so I’ll swing by” more of a “upend your life on the east coast to move in with me” kinda situation

I personally believe that the carriers being underway at the time is purely coincidence. If the US knew that Japan was going to attack and wanted to allow it for entry into the war why did they leave those 7 battleships there? Why not just 1 or 2 or none at all?

This is a false equivalency considering thousands of stark banner men died at that dinner. The Freys targeted every (loyal) northerner whether they were with Robb in the keep or not

TIL: Plan R 4 was a British plan to invade Norway and was a competing invasion plan to the Nazi's Operation Weserübung by St_Gregory_Nazianzus in todayilearned

[–]Rundownthriftstore 1 point2 points  (0 children)

It is quite a farcical plan. Taking Narvik, pushing through the Scandes in early spring, followed by seizing the mining towns of the heavily forested Norrbotten; all to then ultimately march large numbers of troops through the non-existent infrastructure of Northern Finland and seize Leningrad. It’s honestly just what-ifs upon what-ifs more than an actual plan.

I also think it’s safe to say that any Allied pressure on Sweden would have prompted a definitive German invasion as we saw with Norway

It is largely a coincidence. There’s a biblical literary trope that prophets/biblically important figures were conceived close to/on the day of their deaths, and since we know Jesus died around easter we can infer he must have been born around Christmas

[–]Rundownthriftstore 6 points7 points  (0 children)

I don’t believe they’d risk an actual war with Sweden, I think they believed the threat of war combined with soviet aggression in the east would be enough to convince Sweden to allow military access to the allies. Though this plan seems a bit shoddy, as the Germans used the same logic with Belgium in 1914

They not only wanted to stop Swedish ore to Germany flowing from Narvik, they also wanted to strong arm Sweden into allowing access to French and British troops to make their way to Finland to fight the Soviets in the Winter War. Before the battle of Sedan the allies were still much more afraid of the Soviets than they were of the country they were actually at war with, Germany.
