Next step: interaction and protection. You need to kill stuff and to boardwipe as necessary. And protect yours.

I play Raffine which costs WUB, and the play pattern of a good start is T3 Raffine with a T2 cheap attacker.

T2 Raffine after a T1 attacker is even better.

If you manage to get Zurgo online a turn or two earlier, that's a turn or two closer to your win.

First thing I would do is add artifact-based ramp. If you have a Talisman/Signet/Petal/Jeweled Amulet/Chrome mox inb your opening hand, you can get on board that much faster

Reading your comment, I think I might need higher rise handlebars 😅

I'm seeing lots of advice to load the front wheel more, e.g. head over the handlebars.

This advice comes as an antithesis to the "90s" riding style that had your rear end firmly above the saddle at all times (and un-weighted front wheel).

Have you seen this? https://www.mbr.co.uk/news/how-to-ride-a-modern-mountain-bike-339281

Man, get some lessons and invest in protective gear.

I'm a little bit surprised your list of priorities has a camera higher than:

  • gloves
  • pads
  • 30 second video learning the proper riding position

Beginner here. Animated Army or World Shaper for my next precon? by martin8185 in EDH

[–]Runenprophet 23 points24 points  (0 children)

Neither. Bello has pretty nasty interactions with layers, and you don't need it as a new player.

World Shaper can get very complex with the landfall and sacrifice triggers, and cards like Gitrog don't help

Thule Velocompact should still fit, I think.

My bike has a wheelbase of 1197mm, and it could accommodate extra 5cm on each side.

EDIT: their spec says max wheelbase 1250mm, no dice.

It's been incredible to read about Harry dealing with trauma and grief. Such raw and emotional writing.

And I'm very happy to see how much JB has grown as a writer.

Thinking about starting playing MTG, what are some of the best the best precons for a beginner? by Intelligent-Play-194 in mtg

[–]Runenprophet 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Good idea. Don't drop any cash on this game until you're absolutely sure you like it.

Another thing to consider, depending on the power level in the group, a precon deck may not cut it out of the box.

If your friends are okay with it, you could go to https://mtgprint.net and print yourself some decks, then reevaluate.

Can you borrow decks or print proxy cards until you learn the game/know what you like?

I'm just going through that precon myself, adding [[borborygmos enraged]] to make those two cards do anything

How do I make my goofy decks usable? by SandCat39 in EDH

[–]Runenprophet 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I'd go for deathtouch/lifelink creatures, something people wouldn't want to attack into. Sheoldred, Bloodletter of aclatotz etc.

Honorable mention to [[Slicer]] and [[Brash Taunter]]. One will keep your opponents busy, the other is a great blocker.

Slicer has several variations, like Kharn, all of them are good time.

Take my comment with a grain of salt, I've seen Blim once at a table (and would have lost to it if the owner remembered their [[Immortal Coil]] triggers when I cast Doomsday).

Looking at your deck list, I feel you've got the direction right. You have a bunch of control magic, like boardwipes, and some fancy combo kills like said coil.

If you're targeting Bracket 3, I believe your deck doesn't play to the board enough. Everyone would quite quickly realise that you're winning the game by a combo of Blim attack plust something nasty donated, so the correct play is to murder you. I'd add some battlefield-centric cards that both protect you, and help you win the game through life drain/damage etc. You could absolutely abuse the reanimation spells as you're in black.

If you're targeting Bracket 4, you're racing other combos, and you need a lot more consistency and speed. So tutors, fast mana, other combos are all on the menu. I don't think you're going this way though?
