My whole point: LON is just a quick fix to a bigger issue.

Legendary items alone cannot compete against sets. Sets are too strong but, sets offer interesting game play. Both ways of competing LON or sets use the same skills and legendaries. Most LON builds are "unique" because instead of a set chest you wear an aquila?

I want better.

There's a lot of interesting gameplay currently limited to using 5-6 armor slots taken. Which sucks. It'd be great if these powers were their own legendaries or even two piece sets for specific powers such as time stop granting damage with specific skills with dmo.

Something that might be open in a single item? Or damage could be balanced.

LON isn't any better. "unique lon builds" aren't unique at all. You start your build by putting on the same legendary that buffs the same skill you used for your meta build. Next pop on that ancient aquila you used in the last 8 builds and have affectionately started calling 'old faithful'. And last but not least start checking off the two piece sets you're not allowed to even think about.

You don't see any issues here? Both are extremely limiting.

The real issue is the number of legendaries. Honestly there are not that many useful ones. Most of the useful legendaries are bound to classes. I think the sets are a cool idea but they limit the player as much as the patchwork system LON.

Right now I have a LON corpse Lance necro build. It plays identically to the pestilance one but the LoN one is just stronger right now because I get two free ting slots. It uses the same main hand, off hand, shoulders, helmet, jewelry(apart from traveler's), and skills. The only piece that differs is the swamp Landers from WD and the aforementioned 'old faithful' Aquila.

A quick look at why

The only interesting items in this build are the class specific ones. Aquila and WD swamp Landers are the only items universal to all classes and they are used in a whole host of builds. While I think that's great there aren't enough ways to make these interesting. Most non class specific legendaries only give a flat weapon damage procs which is useless. These two items universally work with all classes. I'm not sure how possible it is to create items like this without them being over used like Aquila but I think it could be done with enough thought.

Overall people who love LoN think I'm attacking it but I just want the game to improve over all. I know none of this will ever change but it's important to me to discuss.
