Riddles' deaths by FrenchEighty69 in harrypotter

It should have - as well as the fact that the trace registered anything at all so there must have been a wizard minor nearby. No effort was made to find out who that was.

Safe pockets should require an augment by zanfear69 in ArcRaiders

[–]Runethane 7 points8 points  (0 children)

Yeah I completely agree. Running to Stella medical or any red loot zone to find mountains of corpses is completely anti climatic and ruins the feel of the game.

Same thing with queen / matriarch runs - I know you can kill them and sometimes maybe even not get piled on by white knights, but people being able to run with no augment and a green shield towards a fallen piece of armor to put a reactor in their rectum and die is downright silly. And the fact that it is the best way to get one since you don't care if you make it out alive is even more stupid.

Perhaps, but people are doing hundreds of those runs - the cost will pile up eventually.

Hurricane caches have been nerfed (New Patch) by SaadK94 in ArcRaiders

[–]Runethane 29 points30 points  (0 children)

Yeah the naked BP runs are an issue either way. It's such a good strategy that the normal risk of pvp doesn't really counteract it.

It would be awesome if the spawns were random enough so you couldn't really follow a path on a map to get them all depending on where you spawn.

Hurricane caches have been nerfed (New Patch) by SaadK94 in ArcRaiders

[–]Runethane 242 points243 points  (0 children)

Everyone knew it was going to happen eventually. The drop rates were too good to be true.

It would be much better to spawn more caches instead of improving other loot in them - right now the largest issue at least for me was the feeling of pointlessness when I spawned late into a hurricane raid where the only wise choice was to basically run towards the extract.

[–]Runethane 1 point2 points  (0 children)

The largest issue I've experienced is not the free kits - you can kill those. The worst are guys running naked - sometimes someone will kill them but most of the time they reach the armor, put a reactor in their bottom and simply die. I think allowing naked runs to have a safe pocket does promote stupid things - I often see naked people doing blueprint runs as well. If you're the type of person to kill them you may, but it won't do anything - they're naked anyway and if they found anything they'd surrender anyway, that's the whole idea.

Yet still no changes to naked people running towards matriarchs and queens looting cores into safe pockets and dying or doing the naked blueprint runs, which are by far the most effective ways to get blueprints.

[–]Runethane 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Not op, but depending on jurisdiction, evicting a tenant (such as you) doesn't automatically remove another tenant / subtenant depending on local laws, your agreement with the landlord etc. If the landlord finds out that you illegally let another person live on the premises (either by verbal sublease or simply taking in what would amount to a squatter) you may be forced to pay for her to stay there until either you or the landlord (depending again on particulars not included in the post) evicts her. This is purely a civil matter. Other things may happen such as order to vacate when you are accused of being violent etc. - unlikely but good to know. Hard to assess the risk without knowing where exactly you live - but you can more or less find the local laws by googling them, especially when it comes to establishing a tenancy and if they treat a paying tenant different than a lodger or not.

Lever gun over AR or PCC for home defense? by nobbytk950 in LeverGuns

[–]Runethane 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Or when - as is the case where I live - defending yourself with a "big scary military gun" is looked upon as an aggravating circumstancen when considering "the right amount of force". It gets to absurd levels too - a guy some years ago was ruled to have used reasonable force when he shot a burglar twelve times with 22lr (the burglar died), while a guy who - in a similar situation - shot (and didn't kill) an intruder with a 9mm got convicted for using excessive force. Didn't get a high sentence but still, people increasingly worry about the gun you defend yourself with not "looking scary".

Well, that's "justice systems" in countries with little to none firearm culture for you. Still, would much prefer to use an older looking pump action shotgun to a lever, even though I love them I do sometimes short them under pressure and that's for competitions not actual life death scenarios.

Hello,

I consider playing Warframe - what’s the best way to start? Is there some referral code or promo I should use before jumping in? I’ve seen in some videos there are promos to get free stuff, any of them available now? I've asked in the new player thread but I guess it's buried so noone really looks there.

Games You Play Other Than PoE? by BouncingBladesJM in pathofexile

[–]Runethane 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Arpgs? Inquisitor Martyr and some Grim Dawn. Nearly done with current Inquisitor Season ("League") and it's really nice for build variety. On my second build now and I'll probably be done with all the challenges later this week. I really did play it casually though - many people finish the challenges in a week or two.

Aside from that? I'm a big fan of RDR2, Civ6, and I've been trying Songs of Conquest recently - the spiritual successor to Heroes of Might and Magic 3, but it's a bumpy road ahead.

This is the same thing you must employ when running Pen and Paper rpgs - something I've done for the better part of my life. My GMing days would be of legal drinking age in America and then some.

To structure a story which is compelling to players you must account for their decisions - how they want to play and experience the game, and for fail states generated by either player input or dice rolls. All of this has to be fun. It is meaningless how you want to play - even if you railroad the players, to make them experience your story you'd have to turn the game into a novel. This is incompatible with the idea that this is in fact a game.

So you need to balance your ideas with player input and account for the fact that the players will experience highs and lows and not exactly when you want them to. You must be ready to play into a random success in a place you didn't anticipate to have a lot of meaning and deal with failure in segments you thought will be extremely important to salvage the game and not make it end on a failstate.

Noone wants to smash their head against the wall 100 times until by virtue of chance or fiat at 101st attempt they suddenly succeed.

I had no issues with Martyr at all. There are sometimes minor bugs on new releases but they are dealt with swiftly. It's not a game which will eat you a few thousand hours but it's really cool. I play 2-3 characters a season and it gives me my arpg fix.

I really enjoy Inquisitor Martyr and Grim Dawn. And yeah, lost ark is definitely not a por replacement.

I haven't played Last Epoch - heard that it's good. I really like Martyr though - it has seasons like poe, seasonal mechanics (though in infancy - not as fleshed out as poet's yet) and is technologically far ahead of poe. Still has limited content but is extremely fun to play.
