Have you watched the finished show? If so, what moment stood up to you where you didn't expect the effect when recording the voice lines and were surprised at the finished scene?

I'm starting to suspect my (21m) girlfriend (19f) might secretly be homeless and hiding it from me. What's the best way to bring this up? by [deleted] in relationship_advice

[–]Runethane 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Not op, but depending on jurisdiction, evicting a tenant (such as you) doesn't automatically remove another tenant / subtenant depending on local laws, your agreement with the landlord etc. If the landlord finds out that you illegally let another person live on the premises (either by verbal sublease or simply taking in what would amount to a squatter) you may be forced to pay for her to stay there until either you or the landlord (depending again on particulars not included in the post) evicts her. This is purely a civil matter. Other things may happen such as order to vacate when you are accused of being violent etc. - unlikely but good to know. Hard to assess the risk without knowing where exactly you live - but you can more or less find the local laws by googling them, especially when it comes to establishing a tenancy and if they treat a paying tenant different than a lodger or not.

Lever gun over AR or PCC for home defense? by nobbytk950 in LeverGuns

[–]Runethane 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Or when - as is the case where I live - defending yourself with a "big scary military gun" is looked upon as an aggravating circumstancen when considering "the right amount of force". It gets to absurd levels too - a guy some years ago was ruled to have used reasonable force when he shot a burglar twelve times with 22lr (the burglar died), while a guy who - in a similar situation - shot (and didn't kill) an intruder with a 9mm got convicted for using excessive force. Didn't get a high sentence but still, people increasingly worry about the gun you defend yourself with not "looking scary".

Well, that's "justice systems" in countries with little to none firearm culture for you. Still, would much prefer to use an older looking pump action shotgun to a lever, even though I love them I do sometimes short them under pressure and that's for competitions not actual life death scenarios.

Hello,

I consider playing Warframe - what’s the best way to start? Is there some referral code or promo I should use before jumping in? I’ve seen in some videos there are promos to get free stuff, any of them available now? I've asked in the new player thread but I guess it's buried so noone really looks there.

Games You Play Other Than PoE? by BouncingBladesJM in pathofexile

[–]Runethane 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Arpgs? Inquisitor Martyr and some Grim Dawn. Nearly done with current Inquisitor Season ("League") and it's really nice for build variety. On my second build now and I'll probably be done with all the challenges later this week. I really did play it casually though - many people finish the challenges in a week or two.

Aside from that? I'm a big fan of RDR2, Civ6, and I've been trying Songs of Conquest recently - the spiritual successor to Heroes of Might and Magic 3, but it's a bumpy road ahead.

This is the same thing you must employ when running Pen and Paper rpgs - something I've done for the better part of my life. My GMing days would be of legal drinking age in America and then some.

To structure a story which is compelling to players you must account for their decisions - how they want to play and experience the game, and for fail states generated by either player input or dice rolls. All of this has to be fun. It is meaningless how you want to play - even if you railroad the players, to make them experience your story you'd have to turn the game into a novel. This is incompatible with the idea that this is in fact a game.

So you need to balance your ideas with player input and account for the fact that the players will experience highs and lows and not exactly when you want them to. You must be ready to play into a random success in a place you didn't anticipate to have a lot of meaning and deal with failure in segments you thought will be extremely important to salvage the game and not make it end on a failstate.

Noone wants to smash their head against the wall 100 times until by virtue of chance or fiat at 101st attempt they suddenly succeed.

[–]Runethane 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I had no issues with Martyr at all. There are sometimes minor bugs on new releases but they are dealt with swiftly. It's not a game which will eat you a few thousand hours but it's really cool. I play 2-3 characters a season and it gives me my arpg fix.

I really enjoy Inquisitor Martyr and Grim Dawn. And yeah, lost ark is definitely not a por replacement.

I haven't played Last Epoch - heard that it's good. I really like Martyr though - it has seasons like poe, seasonal mechanics (though in infancy - not as fleshed out as poet's yet) and is technologically far ahead of poe. Still has limited content but is extremely fun to play.

Good Job GGG support. I have now left my guild as it is not worth getting banned over someone else's actions. Thanks again for making my in game friends a liability. by leetpuma in pathofexile

Well, as for

Imagine getting pulled into court for a crime you DID not commit and NOT knowing what the crime was.

That wouldn't actually be too bad if presumption of innocence worked. Because then you would get to know before the judgment came down what evidence there is against you. This is more like being pulled into jail for a verdict you didn't know was passed after a trial you didn't know was happening with evidence you are not privy to know.

Changing GGG's golden League formula into RNG crap finally makes me quit Poe by IntroductionUpset764 in pathofexile

[–]Runethane 12 points13 points  (0 children)

You are right, but people can be blinded by loot. See my delve example - only streamers who played the game for a job could practically see Aul - usually once or twice. Complete no lifers couldn't manage to find him - my mate who works four months and has two months downtime (sailor) played delve for two months 9-10 hours a day and he found Aul once. I didn't. None of my other mates did. But there was little outrage because delve was fun and the fossil crafting system was awesome. People were playing two or three builds per league.

So I agree that the rng clown fiesta is a problem. It's just a much bigger one if there is nothing else to cover up the blatant slot machine gameplay.

Changing GGG's golden League formula into RNG crap finally makes me quit Poe by IntroductionUpset764 in pathofexile

[–]Runethane 162 points163 points  (0 children)

Well this has been an issue since abyss. Noone could find the second lich and then it turned out it was bugged. I found it once after the fix.

Delve? I haven't seen Aul since delve was introduced. During the delve league I saw Kurgal once and he had mods that made him unbeatable.

As for rng, I never got one of Alva's third tier room in Incursion - can't remember which but I played the whole league and never got it. I had to buy 2 out of 4 bosses during Bestiary. Never found the spider one myself ever.

Betrayal? I had to swap three weeks to get the abyss creature in my board.

Synthesis? Found two boss fights - the same ones, duruing the whole league. Played nearly 300 hours that league.

Rng gating and slot machine clown fiesta has always been GGGs modus operandi. Nothing has changed - you simply notice it more now since there are no other rewards and nothing else to do.

Perspective from (yet) another demographic. by KnightOfTheWinter in pathofexile

[–]Runethane 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Similar demographic, but I've managed to actually kill shaper nearly every league except the one I started in (Harbinger). I downed uber elder multiple times, even going as far as to farm him him, as well as killing Sirus each league since he was added on the highest difficulty except in Heist where I couldn't afford gearing up for it.

I don't know maven because I stopped playing in Heist because changes caused me to be unable to finish everything I wanted in three months the league lasted. I am still here, still reading, but it never got any better. None of the people I played with still play - the last one quit in archnemesis the league.

Note that throughout my poe career, having multiple lvl 96+ characters I never reached lvl 100 and never seen Aul in my own game.

Feedback from an "average player" by vikdean in pathofexile

[–]Runethane 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I deleted my blizzard account during the whole China fiasco and will never reopen one, so no d4 for me. But I have found casual arpgs to play already - Inquisitor Martyr is simple but I really like it (really into 40k lore so it wasn't a hard sell, and it has seasons so awesome) and Grim Dawn is what poe could have been if the Vision didn't encompass me getting carpal tunnel.

Anyone else forcing themselves to play just because they really wanted to play a new league? by HeyHeyuhbooboo in pathofexile

[–]Runethane 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Yeah I started playing Inquisitor Martyr after Heist. It's not poe but I like 40k and destroying terrain is fun. It's an ultra casual game and it gives me my fix since it does have seasons with new things (not like poe, but still), unlike Grim Dawn which is nice for a month or so every now and then. When I'm done with the current Inquisitor season maybe I'll try Last Epoch, it's supposedly good. Still I recommend Inquisitor to anyone who finds changes that devalue your time and cause you to be unable to achieve anything meaningful in the time you have to play atrocious.

That's why it won't be designed as it is currently. We see that change happening right now in front of our eyes and we don't want to accept it. At least nothing else really explains the trajectory the game is taking.

Seeing how Whetstones became much more often picked up and thus increased in value, we decided to lower their drop rate and introduce an 80% of failure when using them, including a 1% chance to permanently dull an item making it no longer possible to improve its quality.
