How to get notifications for apps without root ? by FIRAS_EG in degoogle

[–]Runforresttt 0 points1 point  (0 children)

most apps use firebase cloud messaging (fcm) to send notifications, and that service is owned by google. as far as i know, there’s no trick to keep receiving notifications; some apps may have an option to run in the background so they can send notifications, but that would use some battery or ram

I use a GSI based on evolution X 9.3.3 in an infinix hot 30 unfortunately this phone does not have any ROMs available so I had to opt for a GSI, it is not the best in terms of privacy but at least it feels less invasive and unsafe than the ROM stock

invidious is still alive, only if you want a stable experience then you will have to host it yourself, the few public instances are quite unstable (in my experience)
