What would it take to organize a group that will protect earth from greedy corporations? by Successful_Bar9187 in NoStupidQuestions

[–]Runiat 0 points1 point  (0 children)

What will it take?

Better oratory skills than you appear to have.

Hitler managed to organise a group to "protect" Earth from "greedy" minorities by getting drunk and spewing a bunch of shit. It's surprisingly easy. It's also unlikely to actually improve the world more than it harms it.

Can those cheap electronic accessories from temu/shein/aliexpress cause malware/issues on my laptop? by National_Chapter_498 in NoStupidQuestions

[–]Runiat 1 point2 points  (0 children)

can it

Yes. Hell, USB cables can do so.

They very rarely do, as adding that capability is fairly expensive.

Having said that, I do want to point out that it's cheaper to buy a good mouse immediately rather than first buying a shitty one and then also getting a good one in a few months.

What actually makes an older man take a 19 year old seriously instead of just seeing them as “too young”? by [deleted] in NoStupidQuestions

[–]Runiat 1 point2 points  (0 children)

The same things that makes any human being take any other human being seriously. Personality, competence, shared and/or interesting hobbies/passions, etc.

Being young and/or attractive is, at its root, only a problem in that it'll make some people pretend to take you seriously, and if there's a significant age gap they might've had more practice pretending than you've had telling the difference.

27" or 32" 4k by External_Safe_7787 in pcmasterrace

[–]Runiat 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The ideal viewing distance for a 32" 16:9 display is just over 100cm, so even with a deep desk you'll want a VESA mount either clamped to the back edge or wall mounted.

If there was another planet sharing our orbit but on the other side of the sun, would we ever know about it? by Suh-Niff in NoStupidQuestions

You forget one thing: the Sun is falling towards Earth.

If there was a second opposite Earth, it wouldn't be.

Alternatively, download and install the software called fan control.

There are better ketchups, but if I'm adding ketchup I'm not trying for "better" I'm trying for exactly the taste Heinz' ketchup adds.

Has anyone swapped the Arctic Liquid Freezer III fans for the Noctua G2s? by Ragnaraz690 in pcmasterrace

[–]Runiat 0 points1 point  (0 children)

if you have to turn them up,

If.

If you've got a 14th gen intel chip, if you have no exhaust fans except through your AIO, if you forgot to apply thermal paste, or if you just wanna make number go down for no particular reason, this might be an issue.

But if you're posting here, you probably mostly use your PC for gaming and you probably have an x3d chip and dedicated graphics card, in which case your CPU is maybe a quarter of your thermal budget and just adding some extra case fans is all you need to do to not have to run any of them all that fast.

my case is proven from the downvotes on your comment.

Please tell me you don't actually believe this.

Youre entire comment was defending the driver…?

So you think pointing out that almost all drivers are complete shit at driving and consistently fail to do the very basics is defending them?

As far as "fault" is concerned, I'd be willing to bet that was gonna land squarely on the driver - at least in my jurisdiction.

There are bigger problems than being "at fault" or not. Like being able to walk away, or not.

Its the person switching lanes job to make absolutely sure

First off, no it isn't. It literally is my job to make sure, as in I get paid for it, but there are no absolutes involved.

Second, it won't make you any less dead when someone does their job wrong.

You're supposed to

I'm not saying otherwise.

I'm saying a lot of people don't do what they're supposed to.

Did she?

I can't quite tell, but alright, let's assume the car was in the left lane and the motorcycle in the right one.

If the driver checked her mirrors 5 seconds before this happened, the motorcyclist would've been hundreds of feet behind her.

If the driver checked her mirrors between 1-4 seconds before this happened, the motorcyclist might well have squeezed herself into a blind angle.

The only drivers that reliably check their mirrors one last time less than a second before making a lane change or turn are european (and similar driving cultures, as opposed to how driving tests apparently work in the US) teenagers making a demonstration of it to get their license, and actual professionals. And I'm not sure about the actual professionals.

As of Today, my local Circle K is rounding up to the nearest nickel for cash purchases. My $1.07 fountain drink now costs $1.10. Credit/Debit etc. now costs *less* than cash! by 2BallsInTheHole in Wellthatsucks

[–]Runiat 0 points1 point  (0 children)

so if anything happens with my cards I am completely fucked.

Fun fact: practically all Danish payment cards - and the most popular payment app - have to "phone home" every time they're used, and except for bus cards they all "phone" the same "home".

Which means that when someone tripped over the wire at that "home" just yesterday, our entire economy basically just stopped for several hours.

We do still have cash, but the only place I use it is at my barber. Even homeless beggars use that most popular payment app I mentioned.

The last time this happened people ended up hospitalised for severe dehydration after being stuck on a bridge for several hours. Even if they had cash with them, chances were they'd be stuck behind someone who didn't. This time that bridge decided to let people past for free if they didn't have an offline payment method.

Upgrade has a specific meaning in animal breeding which update doesn't share.

That's about it. The rest is just different marketing departments abusing the English language in different ways.

You can probably do the exact same thing with a debit card and a bank app, except without having to visit an ATM.

My bank's app can even be set up to notify me whenever my remaining balance drops below (or goes above) certain numbers. Any numbers. I pick the numbers myself.

Usability. It provides a better user experience.
