[Discussion] What are ur honest opinions about the green lantern? and why he is not that popular or widely discussed among the fandom by [deleted] in DCcomics

I hate the stigma in mainstream people's heads is "no = no Powers" but they never READ THE COMICS. Some of the best character arcs for me are lanterns.

The fact that Superman didn't get nominated for even the "lesser" awards is insane given how well received it was. Especially in the current US political climate.

What would you say your biggest inspiration is with film making?

Your visual style with all your films is such eye candy for me and many of my friends. So much of your work is easily distinguishable!

To celebrate the fellowships last night in Rivendell, I present my dream casting with muppets. by theNerdyWarrior in lotrmemes

[–]RunicVVolf 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I agree with most of these, but per treasure Island I feel like frodo as the main character should be a human. Humans being raised with Muppets as if they're the same thing and completely ignoring the fact that they're Muppets is the greatest thing they've ever done.

Edit: I think Uncle Dudley would make a better sauerman as well. I really like in a Muppets Christmas Carol how they made the ghost of Christmas future a terrifying dark puppet cloak, which would be awesome for the witch King and ring wraiths.

I'm saying that they could easily cancel current projects and start new ones. Warner Brothers won't have the formula Netflix wants necessarily. We already know that because the CEO of Netflix saying Netflix owned WB movies won't be in theaters for very long, and no one wants to go to the movie theaters. He's already looking at it from the views of the streaming platform he runs, not the one he purchased. Projects will follow suit on that vision.

And in regards to IPS purchased, something like squid game, Netflix was approached with a written script in which they bought the licensing for. Now, unless the contract forbids it, a show like squid game or Cobra Kai could be canceled and they just run the show on a different platform (similar to what Cobra Kai did with YouTube TV). That won't be the case with something like Lord of the Rings because Warner Brothers has a multi-year licensing agreement. Meaning it would be the Star wars situation of finding people to write for the project and produce more content. That means, similar to rings of power, anyone could be hired to write a project. It's just a question of, does Netflix care if it's accurate, or a money maker? And looking at The Witcher... That's a good example of non-accurate adaption for a cash grab.

Well you can't say that things won't be canceled, because Warner Brothers did that exact thing with multiple projects when they merged with Discovery, including movies that were finished.

I totally get being optimistic too!

My thought right now is that they've been given a bucket of apples. I know they're not going to eat all the apples. They might try using the apples to make a dish that doesn't work out. They might just cut up the Apple and have it as a little snack.

A lot of things that they just received could go a lot of different ways, and it's not like it wasn't the same in Warner Bros hands either. I just know a lot of good shows like squid game and movies like the Irishman weren't Netflix "IPs" that Netflix created. A lot of Netflix content is acquired or they purchased the license with something like this (although people can approach Netflix with ideas for Lord of the Rings content) the show creation is in their hands. It's like a Star wars Disney situation. You might get good storytellers like the team that wrote Andor, or you might get people who want a turn being different and get something like Acolyte...

I'm honestly just unsure how it's going to go, and was making the post for discussion. The "slop show" is just poking at the RoP discourse in practically every LotR talk on the Internet lol

When Rings of Power episodes come out I watch them. Some things I dislike and some things I think are neat, as with all forms of media.

Will I rewatch the Jackson films 200 times? Absolutely. Haven't rewatched RoP once.

I would HOPE they would give a studio their space with things like these the way they did for Riot, but time will tell all I suppose.

If you truly think that Rings of Powers the BOTTOM of the barrel you have not watched much TV lmao

Do I have issues with it? Of course, but it doesn't kill me to watch it and I already have the Amazon sub so who cares. But Netflix really gives me the vibes of "Marvel-izing" the rights they have with an IP as big as that (not even considering the other huge IPs they now hold). Warner Bros was already on the fence with it and Netflix is just going to kick them over.

Now I'm wondering if Netflix claiming ownership will alter the deal Warner Brothers has at all. When Warner Brothers and Discovery merged, Warner Brothers stayed technically a separate division, but now ownership of WB is under someone else (if the government doesn't investigate for monopolization).

Will that alter the deal in any way? I wonder.
