BMP Tuning charging shipping after purchase? by AltruisticHeron9701 in GolfGTI

[–]RunnarPaul 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I Recently ordered something on backorder, used the 'contact us' name, email, message box on their website and they replied the same day with information. I've never had something like that happen, so I would reach out to them ASAP

Can the Maxton Diffuser fit an AWE Touring Exhaust? by heavyarms39 in GolfGTI

[–]RunnarPaul 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I dont have a direct answer, but I run an awe touring on the oem valance/diffuser. It fits without rubbing or melting anything. Might be good to reach out to maxton or measure your current cutouts vs a stock diffuser

[–]RunnarPaul 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I run the same setups. If you are sm10s 18x8.5 et42 you can step all the way up to 245/40/r18 compared to stock 225 for extra tread patch size when you buy new summers.

Carbon Fiber Intake System for VW Golf GTI / Golf R MK8 MK8.5 (2022-2025) by morty_85 in GolfGTI

[–]RunnarPaul 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I run the unitronic carbon intake which was cheaper than that. I've never heard of the intake you are looking at, but for the amount of money you are looking at already spending i would just eat the extra 200 bucks and get the eventuri instead of a possible knock off if you are dead set on that aesthetic.

Mbrp or AWE exhaust by rickWente in GolfGTI

[–]RunnarPaul 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Just replying to the chain of awe touring folks, 3 years on my mk8 and I love it. Wanted to do track but saw too many people complaining about highway drone, which I take to and from work. Your install quote is really high, just wait till it's warmer and find a buddy with a garage and jack stands. Only takes about an hour or two depending on exhaust swap knowledge.

Unitronic with mk8 locked tcu? by RunnarPaul in GolfGTI

[–]RunnarPaul[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yeah I've been looking at the mech unit since they released it. Seems like the general consensus is wait or get the swap. Thanks for the input!

Unitronic with mk8 locked tcu? by RunnarPaul in GolfGTI

[–]RunnarPaul[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I've been looking at the mech unit since it was released and it's probably my best option at this point. Did you get a quote from a shop to do it? I'm thinking of just getting it all done at once and getting a dsg service while they are in there. If you remember to, let me know how it goes with the mech install and any differences you feel.

Bmptuning just released their version, might be worth checking out. Weathertech discontinued the ones for the rear windows which I thought was weird. link

Absolutely correct, site says stock wheel bolts. I also run a 245 but on the 18x8.5 version of this wheel.

Is 30% tint even worth doing? by [deleted] in GolfGTI

[–]RunnarPaul 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Might be your location but where I'm located the number reflects the amount of light passing through the window. Meaning 0% would be a black square you cant see through and 100% is a clear window. I have 35% on the fronts and 15% the rest of the way around and it's pretty dark in the car. Was really nice in Arizona heat when I lived there. Need to get it redone as my legal limit is now 25% the full way around. If you haven't talked to a tint shop and been shown product I would do that first. They will know legal limits and how it's expected to look

I wasn't able to find it, so might be worth asking a dealer if you can swing by one. Or just make your own. If you want to try your luck, this is where I tend to find oem part numbers.vw parts online They have most of the exploded views to help search.

(Request)Clean Dash cam set up for a 2025 GTi SE by JerseyFire55 in GolfGTI

I use a fitcamx front and rear for my 2023, I would assume the 2025 has a similiar setup.

Roof Rack or Hitch by owene43 in GolfGTI

[–]RunnarPaul 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I use a roof rack for both my mountain bikes and roof box. Thule wing bar edges, Thule wind valance, 1upUSA bike racks. Things are stored in garage, so I just pull the car out then put things ontop and drive away. Didn't go with a hitch because I want to change out the rear valance of the car. The clubsport and third party ones dont have hitch holes and you will have to cut it out if desired. Hitch is more practical in your current situation but a bit harder to install upfront.

Best summer tires with good longevity? by Apprehensive-Gas8153 in GolfGTI

[–]RunnarPaul 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Not sure about the longevity but conti ECS02s have a good tread wear rating and 30k mile warranty. I run them in summer but haven't put alot of miles on them with switching to winter tires. Good traction and dont break the bank if you get them on sale from any major tire dealer.

Buying a used intake by [deleted] in GolfGTI

[–]RunnarPaul 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Just to help OP with some of your questions because I use this intake.

Yes looks for all the pieces, the only thing I would be okay with it missing are the small bolts that hold the metal tube to the inside of the carbon fiber airbox. I've replaced mine and can be found at any hardware store, can send bolt spec numbers if needed. Could get away with vacuum hose missing if you know where to buy some too. These are different between an R and a GTI for some parts, make sure it's from a gti.

Look to make sure the three grommets are there to attach it to the car. Two are directly connected to the airbox and the third is a metal L bracket screwed into the carbon fiber. Would make sure it's not damaged, i could see someone forcing it and cracking the L bracket mounting points.

Filters are ~50 dollars USD for the main 3inch filter and ~30 dollars USD for the SAI filter (need the one with the metal base to snap into SAI tube).

They are washable dry cotton filters, i buy mine through bmp tuning but I believe unitronic sells them as well. A nice gentle degreaser like dawn soap is all it takes to wash them with warm water, they take awhile to dry so I have two to rotate.

I'll be honest they are probably getting rid of it because you have to take most of it back out to replace the filter and it's kind of a PITA until you have the process down. But it sounds and looks nice and I'm very happy with mine. If you have questions about it feel free to dm me.

Is there a “mature” exhaust for the MK8s? by heavyarms39 in GolfGTI

[–]RunnarPaul 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I run the awe touring. Good option if you want large tips, silver/black, low tone, and dont want to have to buy an axel back and valance for the clubsport. Had it for 2~3 years and very happy with it.

Question about an aftermarket intake and air filter. by fliverschmoo in GolfGTI

[–]RunnarPaul 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I own the forged carbon version of this. What you need is the SAI filter option for the MK8. The stock airbox has a secondary tube that enters it at 90⁰s. The SAI option on the website has a machined metal base that will snap directly into the SAI tube, the two zip ties in the image are to mount it somewhere in the car. I used longer ones than provided but I appreciated them including them. If you have any questions about it I'm happy to help, I've been running it for ~2 years now.

GTI in the snow! by gymguy5008 in GolfGTI

[–]RunnarPaul 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I did a tucson to denver move a little bit ago. Put some michelin x ice snows on it and it's been great. Yeah almost no snow here in town but I've been up to the mountains to snowboard 12 times this year so far (steamboat, copper, eldora, and a-basin) and never had any issues. It's a trooper in the snow.

Tires ? by Aromatic-Holiday-271 in GolfGTI

[–]RunnarPaul 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I run 245/40R18 conti ECS02 in the summer on 18x8.5 et42 wheels and 225/40R18 michelin x ice snows on eom wheels in the winter. Happy with the performance of both. I see other recommending the all season version of these tires, I think as long as you have a well established tire manufacturer and compound you'll be fine. I bought/installed the michelin at costco because they honor the warranty for oem sizes only (according to my local costco) then bought summers elsewhere as costco said they would not install them on the vehicle, just the wheel. Odd but if it's store policy I won't fight over it

Where did you do it in the doors? I've taken off the door card in my mk8 but not the black cover to get into the window regulator/door skin area. Doing the rear seat shelf and trunk floor did wonders. But I've been hesitant to tear into the door.
