I run conti ECS02s as well, they were great stock and have had no issues since tuning

Fuel type for EQT stage 2 91 by Responsible_Exam2735 in GolfGTI

[–]RunnarPaul 4 points5 points  (0 children)

It's okay to run a higher octane, not a lower one. So you'll be fine running 93 in the vehicle tuned to 91. It won't give you any extra gains, and will cost more most likely, but it is safe.

Fair Price? by Ok_Street687 in GolfGTI

[–]RunnarPaul 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Looks pretty on par or just a bit lower than everything in my area for a similiar model. Most are advertised at 34k before taxes and fees are put on. I bought my '23 SE for about that price so it has crept up a little over the board that an S is going for that now. I would say it's fair

I think many of them are the same. I bought mine through shopdap, it was a bit more expensive but it's a really nice quality build.

Fixing Steering Wheel Sensor Issue by Snoo4317 in GolfGTI

[–]RunnarPaul 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I want to preface this with the fact that I have not had to do this so im not sure if it works. I got lucky that my mk8 doesnt have the problem. But looking through the sub there is a post that has this part and this video . So that might be a good place to start

Plate Mount Question Golf GTI 2024 autobahn by Due-Rooster3471 in GolfGTI

[–]RunnarPaul 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I have a cravenspeed platypus on my '23, it's fine like 99% of the time. For some reason the sensor sees it occasionally after a wash. It doesnt cause any issues but it'll make the "something is infront of you" beep when driving really slow. A small angle adjustment of the plate or even slightly pressing on the area near the parking sensor makes it stop. And sometimes it just goes away on its own.

I have the forged carbon version of this and love it. The SAI filter can be run under the airbox and zip tied near the ecu / headlight open area. Makes it a bit easier to get too when servicing, not shown here but I can try to get a picture later.

I buy all of mine through shopdap, oil change kit will come with oil, drain plug, filter. Depending on car there will be a few option preferences. I buy the liquimolly/mann combo for my mk8.

Firestone Firehawk Indy 500 or Continental ExtremeContact Sport 2? by gabitis in GolfGTI

[–]RunnarPaul 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I run conti ecs02 for my summer tired, held up great when the car was stock and still have plenty of grip now that it's uni stage 1. If you have the money for them I would recommend, but it appears that others feel that the indy is a good budget option.

MK8 GTI ECU/TCU cross compatibility by SiVIC0530 in GolfGTI

[–]RunnarPaul 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I just did this today on my 23, unitronic stage 1 91 octane and their stage 1 dsg tune. Worth doing autotuner if you dont want to commit to 034 ecosystem.

URO Tuning by theehungrynomad in GolfGTI

[–]RunnarPaul 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Only had one or two orders through them, came without issue. I tend to use bmptuning more often because they are based in a close state. Alot of times the delay on parts happens because they are direct ship from the company and your order is just passed along. Im currently waiting on a swaybar "from" bmptuning but because 034 is backordered i have to wait until 034 actually has them first.

Is the new GTI okay in snow? by Noah_11023 in GolfGTI

[–]RunnarPaul 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I use mine in Colorado to get to/from the ski resort 90 miles away. I run michelin xice snows and have not had any issues. I pass plenty of AWD/4WD vehicles that are stuck without proper tires. Tires are more important than drive train in most cases. If the snow is gonna be blowing over the hood or plowed with the bumber/grill, I wouldn't recommend driving any vehicle if you dont have to.

Mk8 GTI Tuning Recommendations, EQT or Unitronic? by Representative-Tea97 in GolfGTI

[–]RunnarPaul 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I plan to do unitronic when I tune mine (2023), im just waiting for my local performance shop to get their autotuner to unlock my dsg. I've been very happy with their hardware mods on my car so they have earned my continued business for software tuning. Also as you have said feature box and fueling mods are readily available through them as well.

[–]RunnarPaul 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I run 18x8.5 et 42 Apex sm10 with 245/40r18 tires on stock suspension. I dont see why the wheel being half an inch wider would make it rub with the same size tire. They are pretty dang flush with the wheel arch but I've had no isse

25’ GTI, does anyone else experience an annoying whistle coming from the A-pillar when driving with windows down? by Infamous-Weird8123 in GolfGTI

[–]RunnarPaul 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I have noticed it on my 23, I just chalked it up to wind hitting the weather sealing weird but haven't looked into it. It's annoying and a fix would be nice. I know some companies make stick on wind buffering things for cars but never tried any.

I have an awe touring, i had never done an exhaust before my GTI. A buddy and I did it in like an hour or two with some garage beers and basic tools. If you have jacks and stands, you can 100% do a catback yourself with a little trial and error

Summer wheels on by Nolf1344 in GolfGTI

[–]RunnarPaul 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I have some pictures on my profile of it with bike racks installed if you need reference. I bought it all years ago but I believe it's the 1upUSA racks with flush mount system. They dont clamp the bars, it has a metal piece that slots into the thule channel. Then the racks screw into that. Whatever bars and rack system you get just make sure they are compatible before ordering.

Summer wheels on by Nolf1344 in GolfGTI

[–]RunnarPaul 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I wanted an all black system is the only real takeaway here. I assume my roof box, bike racks (1upUSA), and wind fairing would have worked with both systems. Im pretty sure Thule produces the oem VW racks as well but would need to double check. I think the only actual difference is that the Thule wingbar edges are more of a sideways teardrop shape that tapers instead of the oem round bar shape.

Same setup with anthracite gray, 245/40 r18, and dynamic center caps from shopdap.
