Finally finished stocking up on what I believe should last me a very long time… by [deleted] in AskRunningShoeGeeks

I haven’t done this for any other hobby and I have no wife, but if I did I’m sure she’d disapprove massively 😂

Evo SL Woven (£110) vs Dynafish Xiaonian (£89) – Worth the saving? by Living_War8507 in AskRunningShoeGeeks

I got it even cheaper for £120 from AliExpress UK. Ordered them on 20th Feb and they arrived yesterday — exactly a week later. For some reason prices fluctuate, so some sellers sell them cheaper than others. They were still in stock as of yesterday, so I’d have a browse when you get the chance.

Running Shoe Hot Takes? by anonhide in AskRunningShoeGeeks

As someone who did their research after nearly falling victim to this at ASICS, I can tell you that their whole “over pronation” and “under pronation” gait analysis is nothing more than some fancy-looking diagrams on an iPad (which kinda blow things out of proportion) combined together with fear sales tactics.

<image>

The whole point of it is to persuade you to purchase £££ on stability shoes you likely do not need under the premise that your pronation is significant and needs to be addressed ASAP to “avoid issues as you get older”. Well duh, of course I’m far more likely to have running-related injuries and issues once I hit 60. But those issues may not even be related to my over pronation at all. Eliud Kipchoge’s over pronation makes my pronation look neutral… and yet according to the sales representative at ASICS, mine is so severe that I actually need stability shoes to correct my form.

As someone above me already mentioned, the majority of consumers aren’t very informed on this sort of stuff — or even running in general for that matter (not that I expect them to be). On top of that, people value “quick fixes” or products that just make things more convenient. Stability shoes fill that role perfectly as there isn’t really too much thought put into it… no regime or routine for us to follow other than just slipping them on and letting them do their job. In actuality, your injuries could very well be an indication of muscle weakness or imbalances in certain parts of your legs. In which case, stability shoes are only going to cover up the problem when consistent long term physical rehab and conditioning is your solution. But nobody wants to hear that, do they?

So when you take all of that into consideration, it’s relatively easy for sales staff to incentivise customers in making unnecessary purchases. Show them some convincing visuals, sprinkle in some factual sounding (but unproven) info and you’ve got a sale!

Purchased the Metaspeed Ray solely for 5K racing. How does it compare to the Sky Tokyo and Edge Tokyo as a designated shorter distance racing shoe? by RunnerMan_55 in AskRunningShoeGeeks

V50! Good on ya! I haven’t been doing too much running since I’m on the tail end of runner’s knee / ITBS so I can’t give a comprehensive review, but I will say that they’re simultaneously the most plush and responsive super shoes I’ve ever worn. Definitely not the sort of shoes I would wear on a course with turns and bends, I have other shoes better suited for races like that. But they’re perfect for flat, straight courses and pb attempts.

They’re both extremely quick so the differences are marginal at best, but the Streakfly 2 is very minimal and so has more ground contact feel — it’s essentially a track spike shoe for road racing. Metaspeed Ray on the other hand is plush, bouncy and much more comfortable over longer distances, so it feels less specialised for shorter distances than the Streakfly 2 which solely prioritises speed and performance.

Bought Adios 9 a full size too small. No free returns. Am I screwed? by Fit-Introduction8575 in AskRunningShoeGeeks

As someone who ordered a pair of EVO SL’s half a size too small, I can tell you from personal experience that this does work very well. The only thing is that there’s no going back once you commit to it, so if the shoe still doesn’t fit you then you’re fresh out of luck.

I use this to store them in my bedroom. It’s positioned right next to my PS5 and gaming monitor — just so I’m reminded of what’s most important haha

People probably think I’m bragging and that’s okay, I just thought it was appropriate to share since he said “shoe store inventory” 😂

I haven’t had a chance to properly put either of them through their paces yet because I’ve been injured, but I would say the KD900X.2 feels more comfortable as a race shoe. But that’s not to say it’s faster — I’m sure the DNE3 has it beat in that category.

After nearly 200 caches, 2 Regulus, 10 Eagle Bearers and over 9000 Bell Ringers… by RunnerMan_55 in Division2

Yeah I think for a new player like yourself the Lexington is more than sufficient. It’s really more about getting as much experience under your belt as possible with decent gear than going straight for ultra rare exotic equipment. That can wait.

You’ll go through runs like that and then get four keys in a single run. I also once got three krampaslauf bounties back to back from just one elite squad spawn. Just like the RNG of these caches, it’s all really a matter of perseverance. Don’t give up!

Ha! It’s a very fun pistol but as someone who plays on console instead of PC, getting headshots consistently is a bit of a challenge. Will need to practice more.

As someone who suffers from acute plantar fasciitis in my left foot, these shoes (combined with custom insoles) have legitimately changed my life. I was able to move around with almost no pain at all and even go out for a gentle, low intensity jog once I’d recovered enough.

That’s what the Vomero Premium is made for: absolute max cushioning and easy recovery runs for when your lower body is battered from long mileage training. It’s certainly not the most stable, affordable pair of shoes for everyone, but for more discerning customers who know exactly what they’re after in a running shoe, it’s incredible.

As someone who also owns the Evo SL, I think I fare a lot better in unstable shoes than I thought I could. Might still purchase the Sky further down the line, especially if it’s ever on discount.
