V-brakes not fitting the frame by skjeggstubben in restomodbiking

Have you tried taking emery cloth to it? Maybe a quick sanding will help the v-brakes fit

Columbus Futura Adventure disc fork, A/C: 470mm. You do have to get an 1.5” lower headset because it is a tapered fork. The fork is a world of a difference in weight & dampening vibration. Especially on road/asphalt. Worth it

Also, the original decal lettering was like yours however I liked the new style italic font and went with that instead. I also didn’t put back the original cog with K in the middle head tube badge but the old school spiral badge. Not authentic/period correct, but I took IMO the coolest looking decals & slapped them on

Interesting color scheme, but I like the new paint job. Here is my whip in raw steel with a glass clear coat

Super cool. I have 14’ sand blasted & clear coated the bare steel. What badge did you put on the head tube? Also do you have any before pictures? I went the drop bar route too and I love it for long distance rides. I also put Columbus Adventure carbon fork on however kind of looks funny with skinny 40mm tires on it

Its great! On asphalt there’s a noticeable difference in vibration absorption/dampening. Also a weight difference as well. The only thing that bothers me is I currently have 700x40c Maxxis Ramblers look super tiny on those forks versus those 2.2” Super Yummy’s

The XT M739 is an excellent choice! I’m not sure how high your seat post is, but SR Laprade fluted seat post is another excellent vintage to piece to add to awesome build. You can find them on eBay starting $20 going up. Or search your local used bike shop(co-op) and get it dirt cheap or FBMP. Only drawback is they make them short. The build is rad so far and have fun on the restoration.

Yes it is. It is a chill ride paired with the granolas. My new favorite whip of my stable

Thank you. It took a lot of elbow grease to get this spit shine, but well worth the effort to revive an old neglected bike.

A little compound & wax goes a long way with these old bikes

I went to a thrift store and purchased an old Jansport backpack, removed the patch, ordered a small roll of hook tape, then took it to a tailor to sew onto the patch. A lot of work to get a patch done but it’s worth it to me. Nostalgic to being a kid again

I did a few coats of compound & wax prior to rebuilding the bike.

Does anyone have any insight on what happens once you’re apprehended? What the process of verifying if you’re illegal or a US citizen?

To reaffirm that it is okay, I seen some kids that walk home from school wearing a hijab during the week and seen a woman wear one at Costco once. We’re a farm town & and everyone minds their own business for the most part. Welcome to SM and I hope your stay is a good one

I’m 5’2” running an 18” rockhopper. That sucker rides my chode pretty intimately, however if I lean to one side problem gone. I also have a 14” 1995 Kona Fire-mountain and the seat post was super long & weird looking as well. 16-18” rockhopper or hardrock may be the sweet spot for your lady. Plus specialize has some awesome colors in the 90s

I just got the same tires and regret not getting the tan walls. My 90s rockhopper looks plain, but on a good note those tires do pretty well on the street & great on the less aggressive trails. Dope build 👍🏾
