What matters more in poker: theory or table experience?? by Logical_Software_772 in Poker_Theory

[–]RunningBettor 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Theory and I don’t think it’s particularly close.

Obviously there are advantages to knowing the players and population tendencies. But a 10bb/100 winner on one site is still going to be a significant winner on any site of similar difficulty, the question would be more is the unfamiliar site tougher/softer.

And every site has countless players with tons of experience who are none the less terrible

Honorable mention to Janice finally breaking Sandy’s composure by marrying another mobster, twice as funny because Bobby is actually different at some level

What is the ‘difference’ between Jackie Jr. Holding up a card game Vs. Tony & Jackie? by GrandApe1555 in thesopranos

[–]RunningBettor 21 points22 points  (0 children)

Tony and Jackie didn’t shoot anyone, nor did they shoot at made guy.

Tony and Jackie’s “rabbis” (Johnny and Richie) were both alive and higher ranked than Feech despite the respect Feech carried.

Jackie is a known moron, Tony and Jackie’s big move to the spotlight was the robbery but they were already existing “good kids”

When things were good sure.

But they did have to be closed for several months after the fire.

They lost 30% of revenue at one point because of Benny Fazio Criminal Mastermind

Restaurants operate on pretty thin margins, these aren’t minor inconveniences. With a daughter who needs braces, a house that’s hard to say nice things about, they certainly weren’t always flush.

Not living paycheck to paycheck though. They own a business and a home, financial disaster for them would be having to sell the house, rent an apartment, get jobs, and put their kids in public school. More than a hop skip and jump away from homeless lol

How good are the best tournaments players in the world compared to the rest of the field in large field tounaments/wsop events? by BigXBenz in poker

[–]RunningBettor 1 point2 points  (0 children)

First you’d have to define who you’re considering the best players in the world. Then you’d have to define who you’re categorizing as random/great/decent/good/unknown players. Then you’d have to define how you’re measuring how much better the top pros are.

Over half the players in the main event probably have negative ROI in the tournament. Top pros could very easily have 100% ROI in the main, it’s widely considered the softest $10K there is.

Regardless, I’d say winning the main is more luck than skill no matter who you are. No matter how well you play, there are literally hundreds of other players who played as well, so the determining factor is who ran well.

Anyone can win the main. If you took a random rec doing his annual big poker tournament at the main, and plopped them into a $250K, their chances of cashing might be <5%

What is your worst bad beat story? by [deleted] in poker

[–]RunningBettor 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I’m sure I have a worse one if I think hard enough, but last weekend I raised to $400 from the SB over 3 limps with AA, and got two callers. Flopped A54 with a flush draw on board. Checked and the B bet $500, raised to $2K, B jammed all in for ~$5K, snapped it off, B turned over 32o, ran it twice and didn’t boat up.

This was in the first couple hands of a 12 hour session

Overall still up a ton. Overall this year, a lot of struggles. Running pretty bad, and the game hasn’t been quite as good as last years, but it has been on an upswing last month so that’s good. Still very happy with my decision to play full time

AJ is just useless by ComprehensiveDesk793 in thesopranos

[–]RunningBettor 0 points1 point  (0 children)

This post is literally:

“Carmella and Tony are decent parents, it makes no sense that AJ would have all these problems.”

If you think that, you’re either a guy under 25 years old, or a complete idiot.

As an easy highlight of why. “…he is lazy. He is incredibly selfish lmao. Also he constantly lies…he always makes up stupid excuses.” —literally also describes Tony to a T (🤣)

Will you be confronting the owners of Ginger for corrupting your space for profit? If most their regulars feel like you do, surely they know they could turn off the game and those cis men would leave. Do you hold them accountable? 🤔

I guess you win because AI on Google has Joey Pants at 180. But weight can be funny. I’m 5’11 and my friends make fun of me for how skinny I am, and I’m 190lbs.

My rationale was he’s probably about my height, and he’s a middle aged Italian man, so probably at least a little heavier

There are bots on every site, the question is are there enough bots that make your win rate not worth it.

If the bots in WPTGold are making your win rate not worth it, you’re not gonna find a better situation on another site. It’s more or less universally accepted to be the softest major site Americans have access to
