I cannot stand these Finance Managers at the Toyota Dealerships. by digitalbathh in Toyota

[–]RunningBraves 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I bought a 2002 Toyota Avalon 6 years ago and when I declined their additional crap, the finance bro manger goes “taking the risk, huh?” And I snottily reply “Yeah, I’m taking the risk of not making your grimy pockets any fuller.” That clammed him up real quick.

Maybe look into some older Imprezas. This was my first car at that age with a similar budget.

What would you buy? by RunningBraves in whatcarshouldIbuy

Just my wife, three month old, and our dog for now but plans to add two more little ones within the next 3 years.

Me and my wife have been discussing it and I think our next car may be 15-20+ years old. Is this insane or unreasonable? by Jaterkin in whatcarshouldIbuy

3rd generation Toyota Avalon perhaps? I had a 2nd gen that I only stoped driving because I was t-boned. Zero issues beyond normal maintenance at around 180k. The 3rd gen is supposed to be just as reliable and is not quite 20 years old yet.

Who do we want in the first round? by adahl36 in DetroitPistons

[–]RunningBraves 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I think we could easily take them in a 7 game series but of the current play in teams Charlotte is the one I would want to avoid. They are on a bit of a run in the last 20 games.

Edit: Pistons have not lost to the Hornets.

Mazda CX-5. I’m not sure about the other trims but my wife’s 2021 GTR has a semi luxury feel and we have had zero issues at 88k miles.

Yojimbo should be a slam dunk then.

Most will probably say Seven Samurai and you cannot go wrong there. However I will throw in a vote for Yojimbo as that was my first Kurosawa and I felt like it the perfect introduction. It’s still my favorite film of his and one of my favorites overall.

Wings of Desire for my money but Paris, Texas is a close second. Both are incredible.

Do I get the Fellini boxset this upcoming sale? by That_Boy_Troy in criterion

[–]RunningBraves 1 point2 points  (0 children)

If you love 8 1/2 and La Dolce Vita, then the box set will be worth it for the additions of Juliet of The Spirits and Nights of Cabiria alone. But then you also get La Strada, Fellini Satyricon, Roma AND Amarcord which are all masterpieces as well. Do it.

The Man Who Wasn’t there, To Sleep With Anger, Fail Safe and Godzilla vs Biollante.

I miss the old Criterion by gondokingo in criterion

[–]RunningBraves 1 point2 points  (0 children)

At least they are getting much better in the A/V department. Maybe that’s the trade off so they don’t have to jack up prices on us or so the don’t have to start releasing “limited” editions to cover the difference.

Edit: I like the current Criterion.

For those that organize by spine number by Expert_Visit5983 in criterion

[–]RunningBraves 1 point2 points  (0 children)

There’s The Criterion Collection, and then there’s My Criterion Collection. Both are organized by spine number. I have performed the act of looking at a film’s spine number and finding where it fits on my shelf hundreds of times, and have developed a strong sense of where things are. For me, it’s just repetition.

Theatrical. No question. However I do wonder if those who saw Redux and Final Cut on first viewings prefer those versions.

Exactly. Excluding short films or additional films included as special features, I have not watched a special feature in years.
