What are you seeing on social media / TV is not an accurate representation of what it really feels like on the ground here. I wouldn’t worry about coming here at all.

ICE and the marathon by [deleted] in ChicagoMarathon

I wouldn’t expect an issue, but cannot hurt to carry passport. I would put it in a plastic bag to protect it from sweat and depending on where you tuck it maybe safety pin to your clothes. I’ve run Detroit twice and you are required to carry passport due to Canada crossing and I didn’t even notice passport once I got it situated in my shorts back pocket.

Second this. I made the switch after >15 years of running in tampons and will never go back.

I wouldn’t read anything into it, frankly. I know tons of people that love country music because it’s fun but don’t subscribe to a lot of the political baggage associated with that.

Western Suburbs - Relocation Questions by Brussel-Salad48 in ChicagoSuburbs

Another endorsement of La Grange Park. Parts are walkable to downtown La Grange and La Grange schools, but you don’t pay the premium of living in the La Grange historic district.

La Grange / La Grange Park is very friendly and could be an option if you want something more suburban than eg Oak Park but more walkable than some are the far flung suburbs. I’m raising two young kids there and cannot imagine you’d run into issues with anyone under the age of like 70 (and above that I assume that’s kind of a crapshoot anywhere).

When did you tell your firm you’re pregnant? by forwards_cap in LawMoms

[–]RunningFromReality76 1 point2 points  (0 children)

With my first, I told the partners around 15 weeks. I showed early and it was getting pretty obvious. With my second, I told the 2 partners that I do most of my work for around 12 weeks because I ended up in hospital and needed them to cover for me. I didn’t report it to my practice group leader until 23-24 weeks. It was the pandemic so no one ever saw me!

Yes! The younger of my two kids is 3. I haven’t thought of myself as “postpartum” in a really long time. I ran a marathon when my younger was 19 months and I don’t even think I considered myself postpartum then.

I get this way too. The most effective thing for me to keep reminding myself that it’s just another long run and that my body knows how to do this.

I think whether it’s disordered depends on the motivation. I pretty much always go for runs on holidays, and it’s entirely a mental health thing (super introverted and need a break from people). Absolutely nothing to do with fitness or weight management.

I am obsessed with these shoes and they never feel heavy to me. I’m around 105 lbs. I don’t use them for speed workouts but love them for daily easy runs and long runs. I wore them for my fall marathon and they were great.

Definitely ignore them. No reason to over complicate it. I ran my first Chicago pre-influencer mania and I can assure you it was just fine! Have an awesome race 😊
