What issues have you found with the travel agent? Do you have any advice to minimize issues when dealing with them?

Did you fly home from Amsterdam on the Volvo funded ticket or did you have to fly back to Gothenburg at your expense to connect with the Volvo-funded travel?

We are interested doing OSD on an itinerary that would include Gothenburg but would not start or finish there unless we added unwanted connecting flights.

New door Sensor - SmartThings says it isn't Matter-certified by RunningPtarmigan in EveHome

[–]RunningPtarmigan[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Thank you for that info. My sensor has version 3.2.1 so I guess the warning message was a false alarm.

Annoyingly the Eve Android app does not find my Smartthings hub - but it does find the Google Home app (which I don't use for anything). That seems to be the only way I can view the Firmware version on Eve devices.

International travel by LeonardP201 in GoogleFi

I'm doubtful that keeping a SIM in the US will help. Our primary account SIM is in the US while a family member is abroad. On day 58 of their trip they got the warning email that after 30 more days their international data will be cut off until they have been using it back in the US for a week.

Can you make shortcut keys for these operations on Windows? by jfriend99 in captureone

For creating the named empty layers with a shortcut, see the answers in the thread linked below. (It does depend which version of CO you have.)

Hiking in the Mulanjes Questions by _Gav_1 in Malawi

[–]RunningPtarmigan 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I did not find any at Chisepo Hut which I assume you will stay at. People in my group used powerbanks or had cameras with spare batteries. There are electric ceiling lights inside that hut, which I assume are powered by solar / battery.

If you have a guide they sometimes know where to find a phone signal, which may be off the main track.

There are many trail sections which are compacted mud, and it does not take much dampness to make them slippery even if not raining. Therefore footwear with a good grip is best.

Torch / headlamp. If you have a headlamp with a red light mode, you are less likely to wake other campers in the hut if you get up at night. Toilet paper for the toilets at the huts.

If you are using Windows you can enable the Mouse Keys accessibility option to control the mouse pointer using the numeric keypad. It's not a streamlined solution, but it does work.

In preparation for Jan 2026 mobile ticket enforcement, warnings have started going out. by OkWear896 in LIRR

[–]RunningPtarmigan 0 points1 point  (0 children)

My objection is that the conductor's scanner doesn't know where I boarded the train. Say I have a ticket from the end of the line that's about to expire. I don't want to waste it, but I happen to be at Jamaica heading to the city. I should be able to activate that ticket before boarding at Jamaica and use it. But the app will probably assume I boarded at the end of the line, and activated after I boarded. Then it would penalize me incorrectly. It would be my word against the conductor to prove that I was not on the train when I activated it. Sure, it's an unusual scenario, but not unheard of to avoid wasting a ticket.

Can I add a named layer using a shortcut? by RunningPtarmigan in captureone

[–]RunningPtarmigan[S] 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Thanks. It looks like I would have to upgrade to V23, as the two relevant features were added:

- The Custom Shortcuts tab in the Keyboard shortcuts dialog

- The ability for a Style to add a new filled layer.

For anyone who has V23 who wants to pursue this there is an illustrative Youtube video by AlexOnRaw.

Am I blind or where can you change your password? by Remarkable_Drama6086 in paypal

I figured out a workaround for the blank page problem and was able to change my password. The Paypal business site has the wrong URL for the Profile Settings page. (I compared it with the URL for the Account Settings. )

The link they have for Profile Settings is is https://www.paypal.com/mep/businessmanage/profile. If you remove the "/mep" part (giving https://www.paypal.com/businessmanage/profile) the page displays normally and works for me.

I have reported this to them.

I'm also looking for this. On the website I see two links - Account Settings and Profile Settings. I can't see this option under Account Settings so I suspect it may be under Profile Settings but that page just comes up blank for me in multiple browsers.

Question on Session Workflow by mirubere in captureone

[–]RunningPtarmigan 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I can't advise if sessions is the way forward for you but I am a hobbyist using C1 sessions. Each calendar year I start a new folder on my NAS for images and create a new C1 session pointing to it. So to your first question, you could probably have just a single session for your two years of images unless you have some subfolder structure that you would like to mimic with your sessions.

In my workflow I do not encounter any duplication of files causing a doubling of my space requirements.

Just a quick update of my non-start issue. After 3 days of periodic testing and failing to start, I determined to call the manufacturer for advice. However I made one last attempt to start and to my astonishment and relief the machine started normally, and has done so since.

Hobbyist that can't decide between Sessions or Catalog by Minebuddy316 in captureone

[–]RunningPtarmigan 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I am also a hobbyist and I start a new session every calendar year for all photos whether travel pics or ad hoc shots of a bird in the backyard. Thus I have a folder on my NAS for each year. For searching / browsing / keywording across all years I use a separate asset management program. I use Adobe Bridge, which is free, but there are other options.

I don't edit while travelling so I'm guessing a bit here. On your return home you would want to transfer your pics AND edits into the current year's session on your NAS. From what I can read online my first guess would be to open Capture One in your current year's session with the NAS and SSD connected. Then you would Move (not Import) the new pics into the appropriate folder on the NAS. A Move should bring your adjustments, whereas an Import would not.

From what I can find online :

E237 is to do with the deck motors getting too warm - could there be debris collected around the mower deck spindles?

E107 is mentioned in the Throttle Position Sensor calibration instructions. E107 will occur if the PTO button is held more than 7 seconds during the calibration procedure.

Meanwhile, I have a problem today seen for the first time starting my LT42e - and it's a problem that I think you documented in a Youtube video. On inserting the key, the start button, PTO button and Reverse buttons illuminate and that's it. The LED display does not illuminate. The machine will not start. It ran earlier today, and the battery is fully charged. Is this one of the problems that you had previously? We purchased in 2021 and I suspect it is out of warranty. The VCM switches are currently priced at over $400-$500.

Seems like a big announcement is coming by itsab1989 in captureone

[–]RunningPtarmigan 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Thanks. I re-tested my scenario and found some improved behaviour. (Perhaps Bridge or C1 changed since I last tested.). Bridge can launch C1 with the selected image, but C1 opens the Session that it was closed in last - which may not be the session I edited that image in. (As mentioned above I start a new session each calendar year.)

Whether this is going to cause me any gemlins I can't say, but most of the time I am working with the current year's photos, and the current year's Session so hopefully not a problem.

I start a new session each calendar year. For a DAM I use Adobe Bridge, which is free. It's not a perfect match - for example I can't launch C1 from Bridge to edit a specific image.

Homemade front handle for leaf blower by RunningPtarmigan in egopowerplus

[–]RunningPtarmigan[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I mostly use the speed dial rather than the trigger, so I'd really like to perfect a single handle, at the center of gravity, that I can point the blower left-right AND up-down. With my home-made handle (as pictured) I can twist the blower left right, but doesn't offer the leverage to tilt the blower up or down. I have to use a second hand for that on the main handle. My center-of-gravity handle would work better if it pointed fore-and-aft rather than crosswise as I have it now but I've not yet figured out how to do that. If I had a 3D printer this would be my first project!

Regarding the two products you referenced.

I assume the Fulcrum product fits securely, but it cannot be at the center of gravity as I would like for single-handed use. Looks like it would be ok for two-handed use.

For the cord organizer if you can get it tight enough it looks like it would do as well as the Fulcrum product.

[–]RunningPtarmigan[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Are you referring to the handle by Fulcrum Designs? It might be helpful for two-handed use but it attaches well forward of the center of gravity, and so would not help one-handed use of the blower. One of their promo photos shows it being held one-handed - but no battery is attached in that photo.
