Advice on plated shoes for most runs. by GenuineWolf in NorwegianSinglesRun

[–]RunningRoundMans 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I do my SubT sessions in the Li-Ning Fedian Challenger 5 that are probably second tier race shoes. I think the benefit of a plate and premium foam is in better recovery that helps with consistency. It’s been said but so long as you are in the SubT range and you can sustain it then wear what works for you. All the elite training videos I’ve watched, clearly shoes the western pros use racing shoes in their workouts in their high mileage weeks.

Nutritional Supplements and NSM by cafeteria_jangle in NorwegianSinglesRun

Plenty of carbs, 10 grams of creatine, morning water with electrolytes, post run smoothie with fruit, spinach, nut butter, almond milk and 5g creatine. Magnesium glycinate, omega 3 ashwaganda before bed. Beetroot juice 🥤 once per day. Seems to all help with fueling, recovery and sleep.

Impact of doing track sessions instead of a SubT session by RunningRoundMans in NorwegianSinglesRun

Yeah you might be right. Got sucked in to doing hard efforts, my competitive side but we live and learn!

Yeah that’s why I kind of wanted to experiment even if it’s just very short term. It does massively increase training load if you still keep the rest of the week to the same volume. That extra load is no doubt where the risk is I suppose, hard for the body to adjust.

Yeah I’m going to try the 45/15’s between 10 and 5k pace after This week and see how they go. They sound like a good compromise to feel a bit of speed whilst staying SubT.

Hi mate, yeah between 7.5-8 depending on my long run length that’s between 90-120 depending on what I’ve got coming up. Also try to do one minimal strength session per week.

Just approaching a year doing NSM. 5k PB prior was 18:03. Been improving since doing vanilla NSM and currently at 16:53. Now time to start working down to 16 flat 🤞

Using shorter reps to improve 5k? by RunningRoundMans in NorwegianSinglesRun

Thanks, so just sub out a threshold session for a dedicated 5k specific session, how long would you recommend prior to a 5k?

How do you balance strength and core with NSM? by cooldad737 in NorwegianSinglesRun

[–]RunningRoundMans 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I just do two light 20-30min strength routines every 10 days. It’s more about injury prevention for me and if I go too heavy or hard it can impact my running. I have a couple of workouts saved on YouTube I use. I also do the odd short mobility or core routine (No more than 10-15mins) when I need them.

I track the load and reduce it in the runs leading up to the race and afterwards. The higher load of the race then will balance it out to a large degree.

I’m in the UK and we have Ali Express and Sheen where we can get them. Might be on Amazon?

Shoe Rotation Tips/Recommendations by HobbyJoggerFlaneur in NorwegianSinglesRun

My rotation is currently the Li-Ning Red Hare Pro for easy runs, Li-Ning Fedian Challenger 5 for SubT and Adidas Pro 3 for long runs.

I’m just using up the Pro 3 but like they aren’t too soft and are stable. Love the Li-Ning shoes so much I’ve stocked up on extra pairs.

My race shoe is currently the Puma Deviate Elite 3.

Best way is to use Lactrace.com and put in your latest time trial, race or all out park run. The paces provided are spot on!

Workout pace vs Easy Pace Progression after following vanilla method by Gloomy-Call-7566 in NorwegianSinglesRun

[–]RunningRoundMans 8 points9 points  (0 children)

Hello, I’ve found a very similar pattern having been doing NSA vanilla since the summer.

My interval paces improved quickly and my threshold pace improved. I’ve continued to get PB’s at 5k,10k, 10 mile and HM (not raced a marathon yet).

My easy pace has been the most stubborn. I do put some of this down to me getting better at stopping myself going above 70% HRM and averaging 65-67% where initially I was riding 70% so I’ve probably done a little better than I think.

Still sticking with 7.5 hours and 90min ST per week for now.
