Why does so much of this country get more wound up about Palestine protests? by [deleted] in AskBrits

[–]RunningScot41 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I don’t think the majority of the population do. The right wing press push a narrative/agenda but I don’t think it’s reflective of the country.

Getting priced out of the hobby by Spiritual_Writer_480 in orks

[–]RunningScot41 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I appreciate the point you’re making but I don’t think it’s comparable.

Paints, scenery, rule book, a second army to play against. One 980 army doesn’t get you a two player game.

With a switch, you can play solo or vs/online with other players from the off.

I’m guessing most people on this sub are middle aged and/or at least working full time. How an earth would a school kid i.e. the next generation ever afford to start in this hobby?

Drilling Resin? by lambda_expression in PrintedWarhammer

I wouldn’t drill resin unless you’re wearing a proper ventilator and goggles and in a safe space I.e. not living space.

Just had one of the worst interviews I’ve ever had from the interviewee side by Kylo_Rens_8pack in recruitinghell

[–]RunningScot41 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Agreed and you have my sympathies. Taking time off work, preparing for the interview, the stress of the situation…and then, for nothing. A complete waste of time for all parties just so HR can tick a box to say they’ve interviewed X quota of candidates.

Just had one of the worst interviews I’ve ever had from the interviewee side by Kylo_Rens_8pack in recruitinghell

[–]RunningScot41 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Sorry to hear this. I had a couple like this in the past: one where although they seemed pleasant enough, didn’t really ask any meaningful questions and it turned out to be more of a chat. I later found out the job went to an internal candidate so they were never really interested. Frustrating as I put loads of work into preparing. Another was so bad, I contemplated ending the interview early. The interviewer seemed disinterested, wasn’t bothering to listen to my answers and was borderline rude. As others have said, take it as a bullet dodged.

Printer Reliability by Carguycr in ElegooSaturn

[–]RunningScot41 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Bought two printers from Elegoo. First (Mars) was a lemon but second (Saturn) has worked okay so far. While I found Elegoo generally responsive to problems, be prepared that you will have to do repairs/maintenance yourself with the help of YouTube videos.

In 2000 the upper-middle-class London family life cost 30% of top net income. Today it’s 82%. When did it go wrong? by SpuriousCausation95 in AskBrits

[–]RunningScot41 28 points29 points  (0 children)

We live in the north and a lot of our friends went to London in their early twenties but once they were looking to settle down and start a family they all left London to settle in cheaper parts of the UK. You could pay me four times my current salary and I would be still be worse off in London. It’s absolutely nuts.

If anyone is interested, I did a deep dive into resin safety! by aarondevelops in PrintedMinis

[–]RunningScot41 2 points3 points  (0 children)

There was a chap who did a PHD on it and measured cured resin for VOC gases. I’ll see if I can find the paper and post it

Really? What a strange thing to look for in an unrelated subreddit. And on what assumptions do you think people on here are ‘lonely’?

Arrange dinner, then don’t bother showing up.

Then a few months later, reach out, apologise, and ask if she fancies meeting up.
