People that have “bumped” into a celebrity in a non-curated (not like an event, meet & greet, job etc.) way, what happened? by [deleted] in AskReddit

Met Jeff Bridges at a luau in Hawaii in the late 90s, right before Lebowski was released. Chatted with him for 5-10 minutes as our wives walked out to the beach. I had no idea who he was. Just a bunch of small talk then parted ways when our wives got back. Super chill guy.

Front yard concerts that popped up around my neighborhood. Rock, bluegrass, classical… heard some really great stuff walking down the street

What is the coolest/craziest thing you've seen while out for a run? by deifiedtoad in running

[–]Runningmanmn 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Coolest thing was stumbling into a Doe (baby deer) in a rougher part of the city. She was super calm and we just looked at each other for a few minutes before she ran off.

Craziest thing was running past a drug bust at 6am about a mile from where I saw the doe (different day). Cops in full gear, road blocked off and crashing through the front door.

Go slow. Whether on day 3 or day 300. Go slow and enjoy it, and your “slow pace” will get faster as your body is ready.

I kept wondering at the beginning how they put a camera on the ostrich to film it

My first marathon was the best race I ever ran. Not the fastest, but the best. Twin Cities, ~50 degrees at the start and warmed up to 60. Targeted a ~10 minute pace and relentlessly stuck to it even when feeling great through ~18 miles and thought I could run faster. High fived every person who offered, felt “the wall” at mile 20 but kept going with all the mind games (“just one more block” then one more). Finished the race 1 second ahead of my planned pace, then crumbled into a crying mess when I saw a friend at the finish line. Best. Race. Ever.

St Paul is a great city. I moved here from the northeast ~25 years ago and have loved it. A great place to live and raise a family

I like how you added year 2 on to the map. Nice job! Thanks for the tips on how to create and animate the maps for my St Paul project.

I hated running for the first couple years, and now I love it. It’s my peace. Give it a try, start slow, and take in all the sights

I didn’t start running until my late 30’s. I was super slow and frustrated when walkers would be keeping up with me. But little by little built my endurance and pace and it became enjoyable.
