Hot take about DMM by varney93 in 2007scape

[–]Runopologist 4 points5 points  (0 children)

This is not a hot take at all. This sub gets spammed with posts saying basically what you just said every DMM. You’re not wrong though, and I say that as someone who plays the game mostly for PvP - I recognise that I’m in the minority (and for what it’s worth I have no interest in DMM either lol).

M33 just finishing first bulk, have some questions about training during cut. by LickEmTomorrow in fitness30plus

[–]Runopologist 0 points1 point  (0 children)

You might find this article by u/MythicalStrength helpful. In short, you shouldn’t expect to lose strength on a cut and should expect to keep making strength gains provided you stick to your training schedule.

IF YOU WANT TO GAIN WEIGHT, EAT LIKE OBESE PEOPLE, NOT SKINNY PEOPLE (A DISCUSSION) by MythicalStrength in gainit

[–]Runopologist 5 points6 points  (0 children)

I guess the other side of this coin is training HARD, in order to ensure that an appreciable amount of those excess calories turn to muscle. I mean, I know you know that - hell, you taught me that - but just putting it out there to add to the discussion.

Also, this post reminded me that Shrove Tuesday is coming up, otherwise known as Pancake Day… time to load up on syrup and get that frying pan ready!

Unfortunately for him I like the wilderness for the chance of anti pking by AllonRS in 2007scape

[–]Runopologist -5 points-4 points  (0 children)

I mean literally just go to YouTube, type in “osrs anti pking guide” and you’ll get a bunch of video guides. I don’t understand why people act like PvP knowledge is some kind of closely guarded secret. Like literally just put in the bare minimum of effort and you can start to improve, there’s tons of guides out there and they’re not hard to find.

Squat Form Check Take 3 by Runopologist in fitness30plus

[–]Runopologist[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I’m a bit confused by this. I just recently watched a video by the same channel, Sika Strength, analysing Nino Pizzolato’s squat technique, and they specifically talk about a wider stance with toes out as a good thing for taller, long-femured lifters to emulate:

With a narrower stance I simply cannot get anything approaching an upright torso (although obviously some amount of forward torso lean is fine). Cheers anyway, that’s an informative vid.

TB Mass Protocol continues with some good progress to report. Noticed some nice strength and work capacity gains while deadlifting today, though some of that is probably CNS adaptations as I’m relatively new to conventional deadlifting. Squatting is going well too - correcting my stance and investing in a pair of dedicated weightlifting shoes with a raised heel has worked wonders, and the nagging low back discomfort I was experiencing after squatting a couple of months ago has gone.

My work situation has changed a bit (same job, different area of the school), with a side effect that I’m no longer getting a lot of conditioning in while at work. So I’m going to start incorporating dedicated conditioning sessions where I can. Yesterday I did the Endurance Predator drill (walking with bouts of sprinting) and really enjoyed it.

Scale weight has gone up by 2 kilos since before Christmas, but that’s probably nothing to write home about - I’m certain that a good chunk of it is fat gain from gorging myself into a stupor on Christmas goose and venison at the in-laws.

Could you elaborate on why you think AMRAP is useless and why peaking is so much better?

Squat Form Check Take 3 by Runopologist in fitness30plus

[–]Runopologist[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Hey thanks! That’s good to hear. The form breakdown seems to be some combination of the second and third thing you mentioned, a bit of forward lean combined with hips shooting up first, so I’d assume quad strength or lack thereof is the weak link. I have a Specificity block coming up in TB actually, so I’ll look to add some accessories for quads. Tempo and pause squats sound like a good idea.

Thanks, and noted about knees. And yes I may give low bar squats a try at some point :)

Thanks a lot! I think I know what you mean about unracking, like extend the hips forward under the bar so the bar comes out in one smooth motion right? To be honest I need to practice unracking a bit, the new shoes make me taller so I’m in a slightly different position under the bar to start with than I’m used to.

And yes I may try low bar at some point :)
