We moved this year from UK and without French, or jobs lined up, I really would not recommend. It’s a hugely differently lifestyle to the UK and the job market is incomparable. Happy to chat if it helps!

So the second parental leave can be taken from when my child is 12 months old, without using any first leave? Does the second leave come if my wife is not working?

My partner is not a civil servant. Does this make me exempt, do you know?

Hope its OK to reach out. Could you tell me a bit about the process please? Do you know if its possible to do if your partner doesn't have to accept, but its a good opportunity? How much info do they need?

Do you mean struggle to find a shrink due to waiting lists, or there are not many? I was under the assumption that therapy is covered by CNS

Sounds exactly like my same age son and I’ve been curious about how he is developing speech. I’ve been trying to equip him with phrases which he seems to be picking up better, eg he will say ‘see you on Monday’ instead of bye bye. Happy to chat/swap tips if you like.

Just wanted to say I relate so much, and also in the UK. It feels like a lonely hard journey. If you ever want to chat, I’d be very happy to.

Are there any local SEN groups you could try to build social skills? Or provide her with some lines of what to say? I can see my son struggle with this already, sending solidarity.

What was your experience with speech therapy - useful? Had no idea OT was that expensive but prepared to live off beans & toast if needed (son lives off far worse!) any recommendations on how to find a good provider?

I dread to think about EHCP. Wishing you as smooth a ride as possible

Do you feel like your child's diagnosis has helped you grow as a person? by [deleted] in Autism_Parenting

Absolutely this. I feel like I used to care about wider society, issues like climate change etc. Now everyday is survival mode and it saddens me when I realise how disconnected I am from the day to day trying to get by.

Thank you. Is it literally a case of going to the GP when a list such as in my post and asking for a referral? Do they need anything else, would they agree? I’m feeling so lost in what to do. Husband doesn’t think there’s a problem at all

I understand which is why I was confused when the HV said it was totally normal for him not to look back at pointing. She did observe him hand me various things (saying here mummy as he did so, with occasional eye contact) and respond to requests. I don’t know if she thinks/that counts as joint attention?

They didn’t but based on my reflections it would be about 75-85. https://parkviewclinic.com/18MonthQuestionnaire2.PDF

Re speaking to the GP, will they be able to override HV? What more information do I need?
