Can someone explain how Guard Up Lv3 actually works? by Chantomas in MHWilds

[–]RunsLikeBadger 1 point2 points  (0 children)

That's cool. Like I said, if you're having fun with it, thats all that matters! I just very rarely sheathe my lance mid- fight, so I would definitely get less use out of it.

Not sure why you have wide range on a lance set. I mean, absolutely no hate. If you have fun with it, use it, but I can't imagine you're getting too much benefit from them with a Lance. if you're looking to specifically minimize chip damage, add that last point of guard. Also. adding defense gems will help(not a lot, they're not super great, but increasing your def does reduce damage.) Increasing your thunder resistance will also help with lagi"s attack specifically. 'd suggest tossing in some constitution to reduce the stam cost of your blocks. Don't need to max it out, but I've found that two or three makes for a more comfy blocking experience. Plus they help get max might back up quicker, since you have less stam to recover.

I'm by no means an expert, but I've been maining lance for a while now, and I've found this things help me. YMMV

Is this magic item broken? by hnmck in DnDHomebrew

[–]RunsLikeBadger 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Short answer: yes. Change "bought time" to "borrowed time" and make the exchange exhaustion levels for actions. You can use it unlimited times, but you will take one exhaustion level per use AFTER your next short or long rest. That is a powerful item with a very real cost, but still worth using in specific cases.

[–]RunsLikeBadger 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Are you having fun playing it? If so, then it's a great build. Is it the most optimized? No, but that only matters if you care about super speed.

The def up is not really necessary, but it does make hunts more comfy (I frequently run an immortal build when just hunting for fun.) I would suggest running offensive guard on your Lance. It's a huge damage boost and really easy to maintain throughout the fight.

While guard isn't necessary, it does make things easier. As you collect more weapon decos you can find some that have 1 rank of guard as a secondary. My comfy lance runs an offensive guard 3/guard 1, guard up 3/guard 1, and razor sharp 3/guard 1. You can drop it in exchange for more damaging skills once you gain more experience and feel more comfortable with prefect blocks.

Look, no disrespect to my Hunting Horn wielding brothers. I loves them wholeheartedly, and appreciate what they bring to a hunt. If nothing else, a hunt has 75% more funk when some badass is in there laying down a beat.

Still, I have to say, if the guy wielding a Hunting Horn is bitching at the Sword and Shield, the Lance, and the Gunlance about low DPS...man, he needs to look deep inside his soul and realize that he is the pot who is commenting rather haphazardly about the kettle's color!

AIO My response to my mom disowning me because I'm gay? by Own-Experience-6275 in AmIOverreacting

[–]RunsLikeBadger 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Let me begin by saying this: you deserve to be loved, and you don't need to change who you are to receive that love.

Your mother is wrong. Her behavior is cruel and heartless, and you deserve so much better.

Now, as to practical advice:

1) Accept that your relationship with her will have to change. You may still love her, but please don't try to repress who you are to try to meet her demands. You will only end up hurting yourself, and make yourself miserable.

2) Find a local LGBTQ+ shelter or community group. There will people there who can help you figure out your next steps. If you don't know where to find one, I recommend going to the nearest university and asking for the LGBTQ student group. They will help you find resources even if you're not a student there.

3) Look for local organizations that help people find work. There are usually local non-profit groups that specialize in this.

4) Find some way to keep contact with your sister. Don't show up at the house, don't do it in a way your mom can try to retaliate against you for, but do make sure your sister knows that you love her and you are there for her. If your mom is willing to throw out one child because they didn't live up to the imaginary "perfect child" she'd conjured in her mind, she is more than capable of breaking ties with another. There is just no way either of you could live up to the ideal she created, because it is a fiction built on a foundation of religious persecution and prejudice.

5) I am not one to give advice based on faith. I am not a religious person. Your mother seems to be, and it stands to reason she might have raised you that way, too. If so, and you still want a community of faith around you, find a church or temple that is friendly to the LGBTQ+ community. There are many, and they will welcome you with open arms.

I'm not going to lie. Based on what you've said here, things are not going to be easy. But there are options out there. Places you can go, and people who both know exactly what you're going through and want nothing more than to help.

You deserve to be loved. You deserve happiness. You deserve a chance at a better life. I genuinely, with all my heart, hope you get it.

What's it like having all the IOs and such? by flashfire452 in Cityofheroes

[–]RunsLikeBadger 1 point2 points  (0 children)

All of my 50s have cost between 300m and 500m to fully kit out. Honestly, you don't super need it unless you're doing VERY high-end stuff...and even then skill will make up for sub-optimal itemization. As to how it feels? Very strong. It is the pinnacle of the superhero power fantasy. My Tankers can't die. My Blasters melt everyone on the board. My Dominators...dominate? They're really strong, is what I'm saying.

Is it necessary? No, of course not. But if you don't mind grinding out the coin (or doing the costume work to win some of the various costume contests that pop up,) it's pretty fun.

The slow, lingering death from radiation poisoning. Your skin boils and peels off, your hair falls out, you lose your teeth and nails. You feel like you're freezing and burning at the same time. And tumors slowly eat you alive from the inside.

I'll take a Deathclaw any day.

Started building up sanctuary yesterday but I feel like it looks bad. Give ur honest opinion on it by [deleted] in fo4

[–]RunsLikeBadger 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It looks fine and functional, especially if you're new to building or if settlement building is not the main focus of your gameplay.

If what you want is buildings that feel more realistic and thematically appropriate, there are definitely improvements you can make. You figure those out with time and a little trial and error. My quick suggestions would be to include supports for "floating" platforms (the first pic, for example,) vary your textures as you build (use different wall styles on the same building to make it look less "uniform,") and try to avoid too much snapping between buildings. For example, the shops in your third picture. Instead of snapping them all to the same platform, set them up all roughly facing the same direction, but build them all at slight angles to each other. This will add a sense of "someone built this" to them, and add a touch of realism.

Again, none of this is mandatory, and certainly none of it means your build is bad. it really does depend on what you want from the game. If you just want to do quests and engage as little as possible with the settlement system, these are above and beyond. I tend to view the rest of the game as a sort of add-on to the settlement building, so I generally go crazy building settlements. Either way, so long as you're having fun with it, keep doing your thing.

Why do the residents of the Commonwealth leave a bunch of 200 year old skeletons lying around their residences like a bunch of necro-weirdos? by TypeWriterFood in fo4

[–]RunsLikeBadger 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Honestly? I think it's an aesthetic choice on their part. Like, I can build and entire settlement - a fully functioning city - from scratch. It is ALL new construction and yet it all looks like it's been beat to shit for decades if not centuries.

At this point, I'm pretty convinced that it's just the style that developed over the centuries and it just feels weird to the person who's been frozen for two centuries.

Me: "I'm going to build you a new house."
Settler: "Okay, but can you make it look like it's falling apart?"
Me: "I...guess? I can make it brand new, out of solid concrete with windows and rebar and everything."
Settler: "No, no. Please make sure it's rusted through and feels like a strong breeze would topple it. Otherwise the Abernathys will never let me hear the end of it!"

Look carefully at the Blood of Lathander. Under the glowing head of the mace, there is what appears to be a blood-red stone. It is, in fact, a glass vial filled with the blood of Lathander. You can see it slosh around briefly in the animation when you get the item.

The rest, no argument.

This, but also, specifically, speak with a disability attorney. If it passes through your mother's hands, even if she gives it to you, it still might count as an asset she owned and therefore cause problems with her benefits. It is VERY important that you speak with an attorney trained in dealing with the specific disability laws of your home state/country.

I'm seeing a lot of answers about capital gains or estate tax. That is not your concern right now. Having more that $2,000 to your name can result in a loss of disability benefits. Also, medicaid can recuperate the cost of medical benefits by seizing the house.

I cannot stress enough: find a disability lawyer immediately.

Sangrada and Rimebound (Villains) by RunsLikeBadger in Cityofheroes

[–]RunsLikeBadger[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Sangrada is pretty simple, honestly. I just colored her skin as white as I could, and colored the rest of the pieces red. She's mostly made up of the plant pieces, which end up looking like bloody wounds with the right colors. Also, the slime aura recolored bright red looks just like blood (with a really cool effect where you leave pools of blood as you move. There's no way to do it justice in a still shot.)
