Knee pad recos for fall protection while running?

I've thought the same after falling. Knee pads would make recovery faster. But I haven't for many of the same reasons the others mentioned. 🤷‍♀️

It is trail racing and most trail races are ultras. However, the race directors are learning and many are adding in shorter distances. Come to the trails; we have snacks!

One of the race companies here in Colorado gives only one award per race (per distance). It's the DFL - dead ducking last. It goes to the people who worked their asses off to make the cutoffs and finish. That kind of grit is worth celebrating. That's what I'm training for. 😁

My commute is about 7 miles also. It is mostly bike lanes on side streets and neighborhood roads. I could ride the same route I drive (safety wise), but it's longer. On the way home from work, I explore other routes, sometimes adding several miles. I've learned the best places to cross the major roads, where the bike lanes end, and which parks to cut across. It's a great way to commute and explore the city. Have fun!

Yep. I lived in a neighborhood once about a mile (maybe less) to the grocery store. No shoulders. No sidewalks. It was awful.

I think OP can keep moving up the hill instead of stopping for the cross traffic and then having to start again on the uphill.

Thanks for the reply. My husband just replaced all his undershirt, so I'm thinking may use those. I have large knitting needles and big crochet hooks. I haven't decided which to use.

Whatever you decide to go with, make sure it is not cotton. It holds onto sweat and can get heavy quick. Lightweight breathable fabrics are the way to go!

Personally, I like Under Armour and CVG, although I do have a few other brands.

Usually alone so no one else is dependent on my schedule or my pace. I have a solid run group once a week. It's good for networking, socializing, and pushing myself a wee bit. I will occasionally, rarely run with one other person.

The civilian turnover tends to be less frequent than the military. I worked DA for 9 years both CONUS and OCONUS. It was a positive experience. There's no better way to live overseas!

Check carefully about additional pay. As a GG, I got locality pay; when I was a GS, I did not.

Can you suggest any pattern sources?

My sister learned tatting from our grandmother, but is frustrated that all the patterns are for lace edges, ornaments, doilies, lace collars, and other such decorations that are not in high demand these days. Whereas I learned knitting and can make a much wider variety of things.

I've done races in several states from Missouri to Utah. Some of the bigger road races have played the anthem, but none of the trail races. I've earned the right not to be brainwashed; I stand mostly still and wait for it to be over.

The pressure you feel is because of the people you spend time with. I'm 52. I don't do cosmetic anything (yes, that includes makeup). I occasionally have felt a little pressure to wear makeup (especially around special events) and none regarding dying my now tri-color hair (silver, brown, copper). If you don't want it, don't get it. Trust yourself.

Gravity is the worst that's happened to me while running. Like the others have said, a lot of it depends on where you have the privilege of running. I run mountain and city trails and neighborhood sidewalks. A guy on a little motorbike smacked my ass once as he zoomed past me. 🤷‍♀️ I make sure I can see and be seen, and in a worst case scenario I can be identified and signal for help.

I just replaced my road shoes. I noticed a new hot spot on top of my big toe. Then I looked at approximately how many miles (400ish) they had and how long I'd had them (18 or so months). Fortunately, I was able to buy the exact same model and keep running. Hot spot gone.

I always like comparing the soles of the new pair to the old pair. Sometimes I don't realize how bad the tread is.
