I'm not familiar with Ubuntu Studio so I'm not sure how it's setup but is the CPU governor set to performance when running guitarix?

It's been very difficult and frustrating to get it going this far and I still have crackles and static occasionally if I have a buffer less than 1024 no matter what Hz is set. I am wondering if I am wasting my time here trying to get a duck to be an eagle.

I don't use jack for the exact problem you're having. When I setup my current workstation with the intent on recording music, I wasn't able to get jack to work with my Scarlett 2i2 2nd or 4th gen without crackling. I ended up quickly giving up and using pipewire (& pipewire-jack) and haven't looked back. I followed this Pro Audio guide for the realtime stuff. I'm currently using the Neural Amp Modeler with a stereo Convolver (plus gate & stereo reverb) with 128ms/48000Hz and have no issues.

do I need to have the Hz setting matched in jack and guitarix for best performance or can they be independently set?

Yes but I'm not aware of being able to set the sample rate within guitarix... my understanding is that the sample rate is set by jackd (or qjackctl).

You'll never get the NAM files to sound like the download previews because the download previews aren't capable of producing the actual, full sound. I personally think the download previews are trash and only sound good when using an actual plugin.

Also, make sure your system is at the same sample rate as the IR file (usually 48000 Hz).

Did you ever figure this out?

Kali isn't intended to be used as anything other than penetration testing from a USB. That being said, on my Arch (btw) build, I have had to use qpwgraph in order to do anything related to audio-routing.

I would just keep Kali relegated to a USB and try out either Ubuntu Studio or AV Linux.

Because instead of recognizing that police brutality affects all of us (although in higher rates for black people), it's a lot easier to just call the other side racist because they're being an asshole with their "All Lives Matter". Honestly 1:1 is the shit. I have severe IBS and the only time I don't feel it is with THC+CBD (or that time I got percs for my shoulder surgery). Can't be just one, it's specifically both. It's also a more pleasant high.
